My mother made everything beautiful, but my dad used to wrap all our presents in the Sunday comics every year. It was tacky and cheap and we loved it. They grew up during the Depression years and to be able to provide me a childhood with some of what they didn't have growing up must have meant a lot to then. Gosh I miss them. It doesn't matter if your style doesn't match your house or you have to do things on the cheap as long as your holiday as happy is as you can make it.
Lol...my dad was an electrician and you could always tell if he wrapped your gift 😆 he never seemed to find the scotch tape so he'd use black electrician's insulating tape lol..😂 He loved Christmas. We loved him ❤
This is good advise for stores or commercial places... for the home...I think that using year after year things collected is more meaningful than having a show stopper tree just for looks.
I agree with everything except not using the same things year after year. We don't do Christmas knickknacks, but we have ornaments collected from trips and made by the kids over the years, and pulling those special memories out each year is our favorite part of decorating. I can appreciate the beauty of other people's color coordinated themed trees, but we'll stick with our sentimental one.
I also have a lot of sentimental ornaments. We have a very minimal home so for Christmas I only put up our very small tree with all the sentimental ornaments. Then I'll wrap gifts in a muted color and that's it. But it's just me and my husband so it works for us. And clean up is very easy. We go to our kids' homes for Christmas which is kid decorated ❤💚💜💙💛
Ashley, I agree. Not everyone has the money to switch decor every year. That rubbed me the wrong way -- too pretentious. When you get your decor right for your home and your family, why change it just to be changing it?
I’m not into designer Christmas themes. I love the same decorations every year. Most importantly, our kids and grandchildren appreciate seeing the familiar. They each have their favorite parts. It can be tasteful AND repetitive. 🎄 ☃️ 🎅🏻 🤶🏻
Totally agree. Christmas decoration means remember where you got every piece, remembering people. I do have a girl and needs to be colorful, we are happy and it looks fantastic with color.
Agreed! It’s the “repetitiveness” that is nostalgic. I can’t stand the white washed/grey look on Christmas…give me tacky colors, bright lights and family traditions!
There's a story around all your ornaments I had always brought them in 3s for each of my children now there grown I pass the special ones to each of them
My kids look forward to the decorations that mean something to our family. I would never change those. Christmas is not just about having a perfectly decorated house. It’s about tradition and warm feelings.
My aunt always had a themed christmas tree with designer input, and I never liked it. It looked cold and soul-less. Our tree was always live and decoeated with family treasures, some even ugly and broken, but we loved it!
Thats the whole point, the memories of previous joyful Christmas’ . We upcycle our Christmas goods each year; saves in cost and is sustainable & everyone oohs & aahs at opening the decorations each year, bringing back the history of each item, who made it or where its from etc 🎄Ive also seen ‘cold’ ornamental Christmas decor and it might be aesthetically correct but soulless.
For me part the joy of Christmas is unwrapping the ornaments I’ve collected and are meaningful. I find themed trees look very commercial or are sterile and belong in a hotel lobby.
Exactly! What’s wrong with using the same decorations? In fact, that’s the point actually, keeping the traditions. In what world do these people live in??? I’m all for respecting different opinions of other people but calling it one of the WORST mistakes???
@@aksileb I don't think that they are saying that you shouldn't keep traditions, I think that they are pointing out that sometimes we keep and use things not because we like them but because it's tradition.
I love heavily themed trees as much as I love intentional and meaningful traditional trees. My main tree is super themed but warm and beautiful and my second tree is a mismatch of everything ... one isn't better than the other just different in style!
Totally agree! If you have to buy everything new every year, because you need new colours and style, then you are a part of the « buy-use once-throw away»culture....not good for the environment! And what is wrong with having traditional xmas decor.....🙄
Just catching up on the videos and saw your comment ... I always liked tree " theme " and presents to look coordinated so... brown paper, dried flowers wrap and tree = almost free . Buy white baubles 1 year white wrap spray baubles, gold next year basically change up every year .even had rose pink one year baubles painted eith nail varnish!!
Exactly, I could not disagree more with your 10 faux pas of Christmas decorating. I found you both came across very condescending. The nervous laughs are you knowing your pushing it on your comments. What world do you live in. OMG
Ahhh, nope - Some over decorate, but folks do what you like and what makes you enjoy your home - it’s your home, your life so please enjoy it - if you’re a little too over zealous one year, you can always tone it down the next year. I see designers who like to tell others what to do - listen to them if you like, but frankly many times their sense of taste is a little out there too. Be well, enjoy your home and have a blessed Christmas - as for me, a classic decorated Christmas tree is always beautiful- but again, do what YOU like and what your budget will allow. Blessings!
I’m all for interior design which is why I’m here but this video didn’t jive with me at all. Christmas is the one time of year that people have all sorts of different budgets, different styles, and it usually makes people happy to take everything out from the attic or wherever and decorate. I never thought of a color palette. I just enjoy decorating and no it’s not tacky. Additionally maybe some of the homes you show could be more realistic.
As long as everyone is happy and healthy the rest doesn't really matter!! There's so much pretentiousness, many of us don't live in the magazine chic homes. We want to capture what the spirit of Christmas is to us and our family. Collections of the best and beautiful glass ornaments are wonderful but I'd rather have a tree decorated in exclusively homemade ornaments the children have made!! Let's not try to produce the most stylish, picture perfect homes but enjoy the homes we have with the people we love. Drop the comparisons and people that would tell us what not to have and just do you!! Have a joy filled Christmas and enjoy the people you're doing it with!! Bring on the bright clashing colours and flashing lights if that's what makes your heart happy!! 😊
There is nothing more heartwarming to me than seeing a family who constantly love on their pets. Once my husband goes to bed, I make a martini and get a cozy blanket. Three of my four chihuahuas get under the blanket and we watch our RUclips videos.
That is precious. I do the same with my cat in the morning with coffee. She actually understands "Time to do coffee?" and she goes to the couch and waits while I make coffee.
Thank you for the reminder to pause and remember the reason for the season. We are so blessed that God loved us so much He provided a Savior. It’s easy to get caught up on hyper-consumerism and the frenzy. Spending time together in a warm loving home is the best gift we can give others.
Thanks! I was thinking the same thing. The Reason for the season is Jesus Christ. All the decorations are nice but Christmas is meaningful without them.
I change my Christmas decorations a bit from year to year but I have really nice quality things and can’t imagine not using them or replacing them every year. As far as my tree, my mom started giving me an ornament a year at age 3. I have some beautiful ornaments that I cherish now, they’re like old friends. Everything matching on a tree can look beautiful but I think ornaments collected over time are much more special. I enjoy your videos, you give people a lot to think about.
@aNgÉlica dEl ciELo I have to think she will really love it. I date my girls’ ornaments too as my mom did for me. Fun to see the year they were received. I just don’t think a bunch of round balls is anything that exciting on a tree.
I’m a firm believer you do you! Whatever makes you feel good and authentic to you. Who cares what others think… we have one life, live it the way you choose! ❤️
Along the lines of Christmas decorating that matches your home's style, I'd also suggest using every day things that you love and simply add a Christmas touch. For example, put some greenery in a vase or vessel that you love all year long. Invest in some beautiful candle holders that can be used any time of year instead "Christmasy" candle holders. A favorite basket can hold comfortable throws. In other words, shop your home and add a Christmas touch to them. Less is more, and a few nicer things that you already have can bring holiday cheer with just a little tweak.
I do this as well. For the holiday season, I supplement my every day decor with things that add a bit of sparkle. For example, the crystal candlestick holders on the mantel get a bit of lighted (tiny bulbs)faux boxwood greenery around them. It is a small and subtle change that doesn't overwhelm the space and complements the rustic, soft decor/style of the home. Less definitely is more.
I think most people I know include myself are usually worn out after Christmas. All the hype for a few days, the expense and trying to please all is stressful. You make it sound wonderful and I’m glad for you and your family. I feel sorry for a lot of families who are put under pressure and don’t have the money to spend on kids who see others with so much. I wish everyone could have a magical time but the reality is that it’s a nightmare for many families who are struggling.
Yea it's hard 2 kids 24/7 lol ! I'm wore out , mentally drained, I try sooo hard just to be a mom ..I live for my kids the def keep me going but it's hard very hard alone...this brung tears ..but gotta suck it up butter cup keep going..and clean and finish the tree for the kids.
My husband designed our house to host a REAL 23 foot Christmas tree. Takes 5 adults to put up and three days to decorate. It may be over the top but it means the world to him. Merry Christmas everyone.
Just found this channel and I’m in love but can we all take a moment and appreciate how lovingly he looks at her everytime she’s talking 😭😭 I want someone to look at me like that!!!
I'm in the floral industry and have done my share of tree decorating, and although some of the trees are color coordinated and themed, etc...(and can look spectacular) my favorite trees are the ones that use old and new ornaments, handmade through the years, with a special memory or attached to the ornament as it is brought out of the storage box for another year. Those are the trees that (in my experience) are found in the happiest homes with people who get what Christmas is all about! I think it's nice to have a small second tree in a different part of the house with a theme or trend that you find appealing. But the main thing is that you don't try to "buy" the spirit of Christmas. Oh, and one last thing...there are no ugly Christmas decorations because they are all an expression of someone's Christmas spirit. Merry Christmas. Peace.
Our family collects one ornament from special places we have travelled to. These ornaments have come from around the world and have gone on the tree for almost 20 years now! I still put up the stockings I glitter glued our names onto when the kids were babies. Our stuff is timeless and pretty good quality. Our old always brings delight and memories past. Wouldn’t change a thing!
I totally agree. I have a traditional/transitional house. I put up a very traditional tree with ornaments that I have collected over the years. It is full of beautiful collectibles, ornaments that come from places we have traveled to, Star Wars and Star Trek ornaments and ornaments that the kids made when they were little. I add red and plaid bows. It may sound like a mishmash, but it all gives me pleasure. I only see these ornaments once a year and they bring back so many memories. This is the one Christmas thing where I am not concerned about a matching palette. To compensate, I am more restrained with other Christmas décor in the house.
@@cherylkavanagh3387 I agree with you. I have a mix of sentimental and store bought. I like to buy an ornament when we go on vacation in the Summer ( nothing cheesey) and add it to the tree. We have quite a collection now. Lol.
I live in an apartment so I don't have to put up huge things. The greenery I love to put all around is rosemary! It looks like pine branches, sort of, and I put little rosemary plants in festive red pots. They look cute and smell good! My tree has to be artificial due to fire hazards, and I have a collection of gold star ornaments. Nothing but gold stars!
Yes! That's exactly what I was thinking! I enjoy decorating, like the tips, & LOVE having my family together but without JESUS there would be no Christmas.
You're such an inspiration! We haven't done ANY house projects in 4 years because the last 2 years we put every extra dollar to being mortgage free...as of 2 months ago. Now we're saving to do some fun house projects and I can't wait. Love all the wonderful ideas and definitely black, white, and gray are my favorite colors!
Been there. I'm very sorry for your loss 😔. You're right, life goes on but with big changes. Hopefully as time goes on you can make new memories while reflecting on past ones. ❤
While you have impeccable taste and quite a nice budget for high end things you need to remember that not everyone has a large home with storage in a basement to keep "several versions of Christmas"...lol. As I am sure you know, Christmas, is about tradition, not necessarily trying to make your home a showplace. I would rather have beautiful ornaments that are vintage and tell stories. Not a time of year to be "on trend" and in the now style. Trends and "now" style are fickle and change too quickly for something as important as Christmas, tradition and Grandma's Crystal Star tree topper. I would rather decorate my tree with the same ornaments and porcelain nativity scene each year because it seems to bring my lost loved ones into the magical season with me. You don't need to change your ornaments each year if you already have vintage or heritage ornaments that yields a beautiful meaningful Christmas to you and your family. -- you are a delight...this is just my two cents worth.
Husband: what is this Patreon charge on the card? Me: Oh, it’s for the House of Valentina! Husband: you’ve got issues, they don’t even know you exist Me: I don’t care, I love them Husband: rolls eyes Me: The 49ers don’t know you exist and you buy the NFL ticket, buy apparel and devote your day off to watching them. Husband: ok (walks away) Love you guys ❤️
That's hilarious Diana! And by the way we're giving you a better comeback, because we do actually know that you exist and we're thrilled that you're a part of our world!
@@HouseofValentina I just showed him this comment and told him this is the equivalent of a personalized autographed signature from his favorite player that he’s doesn’t own lol . Thank you ❤️
At 68 , my broken arm is taking longer to heal than the doctors thought. So this year, as we live in a craftsman style house and I am unable to fuss, we are decorating in Scandinavian style. Everything will be woodsy and crafty just like our home.
The best tip was the last one. Decorate (if you want to) for yourself, not for your extended family, friends or neighbors. Enjoy the experience, enjoy the season, don't stress out, have fun, like Valentina said. Oh and LOVE your dog. So so cute. Thank you as always for the great tips and ideas.
You guys are so much fun!! I don’t have a large budget but I can pull things from each of your videos that work for me. Thanks for your laughter and inspiration!!
Whew!!! I passed the test! I agree with all you are talking about! Just enjoy the time, enjoy family and friends! Be happy and comfortable in your surroundings!! 🎄❤️🎄
Hi, it’s Debby from Dallas. This was a wonderful video. Very informative, but most of all, you painted a picture of a holiday where all is calm, all is bright. That’s the way Christmas should be. You two are so clever together.
I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!! *yes I’m screaming!! I’m a professional by trade and volunteer at heart… a Texas Gal and have raised a U.S. Marine and a Correctional Officer! My husband and I watch so many of these videos (since collecting rate plants and trying to incorporate our “personal style”) but I rarely EVER hear anyone speak of GOD & “the REASON for the season”!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for being real!! BLESSINGS TO YOU ALL!!
It's official, we're related!! I started a spreadsheet 11 years ago when we moved to our house here in Arizona because it was larger than our last house and I could really have fun. I catch the sales at the end of the year to make sure I gather up for next year. My husband is traditional so the living room is decorated for him with a huge green tree in the front window filled with red and green ornaments and colored lights, then we move the two leather chairs to face the tree, its so lovely to sit and enjoy at night. I'm contemporary, my tree is flocked and filled with white lights, rose gold, silver, white, and crystal ornaments, in our family room. The rest of the house is a careful blend of both traditional and contemporary. And, every room is decorated...I'm a Christmas girl. My decorations are 75% higher priced and 25% bargain, if you mix them just right they usually play together well. Thanks so much you and Jack are always adorable and true delight to watch.
Love hearing your ideas, I have to say I already do most. My home is always ready for guests this time of year. Family and friends are very important. Less is more when it comes to decorating.
I moved just over a year ago and I’m deep in the “trying to fit the old furniture and decor into this completely different space” phase. When my old tree was too tall for my ceiling last year I literally cried. Then I called a sister in law who just happened to move into a house with really high ceilings and gave her a beautiful beautiful tree. …then my cute hubby got me a beautiful, slightly shorter, new one. My goal this year is to move the process of sorting out the pieces that work with my new home and hopefully adding a few pieces to feel really at home in my new old house. It’s astounding how emotional that decor mismatch can be.
Hi ! Great video! But....are you saying that if we reuse the same Christmas decor that's actually IN our storage areas multiple years in a row, then we're out of style?? Ugh!
I can not begin to tell you how important it was to hear you make the last point. Stress around perfecting everything is REAL and feeling like it has to be EXTRA special this year after last holiday season which was so COVID-limited, remembering that enjoying the time with family is the point takes the pressure off. I don’t want my kid remembering how stressed/exhausted we are - and I’d like to think an unmatched plate or an ornament out of place will make no difference in the memories. As always, thank you for your charm and fun and style.
This is why I need to get off of IG-everyone and their Amazon links 😩. And “hey guys, I just wanted to hop on and share this awesome…..” geez, make it stop please 😂😭
I love this video. To think of a color palette was such a great idea. And showing us different palettes was even better. I do like to think about what goes in my house. Thank you so much for your advice. I can't wait to see your house decorated.
I think anyone when does a “color of the year” for their space create so much waste every year. I met a woman who every year went to target, hobby lobby, Michaels and Walmart and bought every thing to decorate for that year, then January rolled around and she was trashing or taking things to good will-at least that’s aspect was ok. Faux greenery sheds over time, even living in Asia in a tropical climate u just find a “local green option” to make it work. I myself have ornaments that were my grandparents, parents and mine so their life span extended over 60 years. My crèche is an Italian collection that has been creating for over 100 years. I pride myself as a traditionalist and my guests see the three and from year to year they might comment about the damn same ornament every year and never remember. The only thing I wish and miss is building my gingerbread house but since there will be so many ants I refuse to build.
passing them on to good will..GOOD ON THEM!!!!! no hoarding, keep what brings you joy.....and bless those who couldn't afford newish decorations that aren't out of date and will still be stylish
Good advice! I use maybe 20% of all the stuff I've collected every year. (Though I enjoy the nostalgia looking through it while deciding what to use.) I think the trick to fake pine looking good is building with individual picks vs premade garlands and swags.
I have been decorating for 40+ years. I re-use many Christmas decorations, and I also add every year new things. I have 21 tall trees up, all have their own theme, and when family and friends come over they always state it looks elegant yet like Santa’s Wonderland. I also use large live like figurines, like Santa’s/ nutcrackers/ snowmen etc., it’s fun 🤩 I love Christmas and most of all the meaning of it not just the decorations.
I love how much you guys love christmas and the amount of xmas content you make. I think I've watched every one of your xmas videos and will be rewatching my favourites again. Thanks for all the great ideas, keep them coming!!
I imagine it's easy enough to move furniture and pre-plan what room you'll open gifts in when you live in a grand house. What about an apartment of 230sqft? Any ideas for decorating small.spaces?
“Sap on my face from the limb” “let’s see if Louis will say it” 🤣 Yup. Jack, it’s official….you ALWAYS make me chuckle. This past week was amazing Valentina. I loved watching a video every day. Yesterday was sad, lol! How will I ever go back to 3 videos!! Please start a vlog channel! ❤️
Love your laughter and inspiration. I will try a few new things this year. To me jESUS is the reason for the season. To me it's His birthday 🥰and should be celebrated with great grandeour and glory.🥰
Love hearing your opinions on things. I can't afford to change up my deccies so I make sure I buy stuff I know I'll love for years (or until my cats break it) 🙀 and that's neutral colours, silver, white and gold with the greenery spread about the house. I think if you have lights in most rooms it makes the house so cosy and warm feeling, can't wait to see your Christmas decor x
I have a “family” tree downstairs in our family room with all our personal ornaments on it. Then we have a themed simpler tree in the front room for the big window 🎄 Best of both worlds!
I remember my son was only six mounths and was very calm, looking so much when we went trough the Christmas decorations in a store. I bought some glass ornamets in a champagne colour. I really loved them but hesitated since I had a very limited budget. I still have them 29 years later. Some beautiful basic ornaments can follow you for so many years. Every time I see the ornaments I remember my son being so little and so cute that day, one of my favourite memories ever. ❤️ I give away things I don't use to charity. One year I gave to a shelter so they could do some decorations.
I love watching your videos but only coz I love home decor , but it’s coz I love watching how well both of you get along I’d bless you and keep you all well and happy . I love the way your husband looks at you lovingly it’s amazing to watch
Very good tips! It is so funny when I drive by those homes that are so gorgeous with neutral decor yet the front yard looks like the land of misfit toys! I like to change up my decor now & again, some years I like the gold accents with my greens and others I do just white & silvers with my greens. I think as we mature and as our kids grow it’s easier to really put more into your decor. 🎄
I love Christmas decorating and love seeing all of my friends and families style of Christmas decorating. I don’t believe there is a right and wrong way just do what makes you happy and brings the Christmas spirit to your heart. But this was an interesting video. Cute couple..
We could never be mad at you . It’s called tough love . Fantastic ideas ! I’m going to up my game and have a more sophisticated look this year . I’m ditching the old greenery .
I do like no high end but I believe there are key pieces that are timeless. Although some do fade get worn from packing and to me that’s when a little add to is needed so maybe every 2-4 years add something. I try to add something every year to change up a look even if only a wreath or new set of color anything to add to and weed out another. Collecting is something so timeless and priceless that is all you and your family memories
I think someone should decorate how they want to and do what makes you happy. Christmas only comes once a year all I have to say is don't over think it and just have fun and enjoy the holidays. Everyone isn't trying to be an influencer or designer. Im sure you get asked for advice but just because it looks like a mistake to you and you wouldn't do it in your on home doesn't mean its a worst Christmas decorating mistake. I do agree with moving the furniture. I think a lot of designers think they are the expert on things. What really matters is how you feel in your home and how your decor makes you feel. Just remember you're decorating for you and not everyone else. We also have to remember these youtubers and influencers are getting paid to put out content. So in their mind they know what they are talking about. Everyone just be happy and do what makes you happy
Did you catch seeing the Cardinals outside in the bushes 🤗 I can’t wait to see your house all decorated,I know it will be stunning. Y’all are such encouraging, positive people, thank you for sharing.
She's so funny, keep her away from the wine lol. I love Christmas and the best part about growing up in Michigan is going to Bonner's in Frankenmuth, Michigan. It's Christmas 365 Days of the Year and the Christmas trees are decorated in every theme your imagination can dream of. It's beautiful and magical. They sell the most beautiful Christmas ornaments.
Thank you for that last part which is a reminder of the most important point. The reason for the season is the hardest thing to remember. I think I will make a new To Do list. It will have “Remember the reason for the season!” and I will center my thoughts and actions on that. Be well and happy.
I'm looking forward to Christmas this year but I have to wait to decorate until I get my Christmas spirit which usually comes with the snow. Thank you for your tips and heart felt words about enjoying family time. ♥️
Hi y’all 🎄🌲🌸 I love watching & remembering all these truths y’all are layin down. To much drama & abuse in my past aka dealing with ptsd. Coming out of it & starting my apothecary business. My trees 🌲 are outside, Redwoods. I will at some point decorate trees 🎄. I love vintage looking with handmade glass ornaments. Noble fir and redwoods are my favorite trees. do 🥰
Your 10th tip is by far the best tip! We often lose ourselves in having everything being perfect, that we don’t enjoy the moment. Best to you and your family!
Thanks again guys! 🥰🥰The way you laugh out loud Valentina….is priceless! 🤣🤣🤣You have my kind of laughter! 😂😂😂 I cannot wait for the home tour! 🎄🎁🌲🎁🎄🎁🌲🎁🎄Lots of love from The Netherlands!😘💋
There are no wrong decorating mistakes, do what makes you happy and creates memories. However, I believe this applies to inside the house. Outside be a good neighbor.
Your dog is adorable! What a face. Thank you so much for this video. I especially like what you said about using the same stuff every year. Not only is it boring but the decorations begin to look tired and worn. I am learning that spray paint and shopping your own stuff can save you money and make everything look new and unique
Great tips! I am going to try clearing the room before decorating, that’s such a great idea. Thank you for all the great content. You two are such a cute couple, I love to see your interaction.
I’ve invested in glass ornaments this year…I’m so excited! Question 🙋🏽♀️ what do you do when you and your partner have different styles? The hubs loves traditional red and green…and I love simple neutral…help Valentina?!! Love you guys!!!
Over the years, I collected a variety of ornaments and decor. Each year, I decide on a particular theme, such as whimsical, retro, traditional as I keep our victorian home in mind. It makes each tree unique and beautiful. I also choose a tree that matches my theme. I agree that every year doesn't have to be the same. And nothing beats fresh greenery for a homey feel, in my opinion. The smells and textures are magical. Thank you for these practical tips. 🎄
You two just crack me up ! I'm absolutely going to level-up my decor this year --- thanks to your tips --- not "more" but pared down and elegant ( for our more modern scandi condo ) and natural, slightly woodsy/ rustic (for our scandi cabin). Your enthusiasm has got me excited to get started! xoxo
Love it as always! I grew up with the same awful decorations and tree and when we had kids we lived in one of the most remote areas in the world and had new awful decorations and tree. Two years ago I got an awesome tree, garlands and high quality decorations and thoroughly enjoy decorating the lounge room. Have to get 4” ribbon on Amazon US though. Does having a flocked tree in the Australian summer count as not matching the house for the decorating style? It makes me feel cooler (temperature wise) when coming in side.
I think I'll just stick to my traditional repetitive Christmas. The holiday is about spending time remember what Christ has done for me, and spending time with my family. I have made a lot of my decor. My kids like the same decorations and wait for Thanksgiving knowing they will see items they enjoy. You do you and I'll do me. Merry Christmas.
My mom would occasionally do the same thing for birthdays. I miss her. 😭😢
@@ladypaz Love that.
My mom would do that too sometimes, what nice memories.
Lol...my dad was an electrician and you could always tell if he wrapped your gift 😆 he never seemed to find the scotch tape so he'd use black electrician's insulating tape lol..😂 He loved Christmas. We loved him ❤
I agree with you completely.
Agree , my sentimental ornaments are one of my favorite things
That sounds lovely!
Exactly! I totally agree!
Agreed, plus decorations are expensive and for sure I'm gonna get my moneys worth lol.
There's a story around all your ornaments I had always brought them in 3s for each of my children now there grown I pass the special ones to each of them
agree
My kids look forward to the decorations that mean something to our family. I would never change those. Christmas is not just about having a perfectly decorated house. It’s about tradition and warm feelings.
Then definitely keep them as part of your decor!
Yep!
Yep. I agree. These trees don't look like you.
This Christmas video is so darn BORING !!!!!!!!!!
Totally agree! If you have to buy everything new every year, because you need new colours and style, then you are a part of the « buy-use once-throw away»culture....not good for the environment! And what is wrong with having traditional xmas decor.....🙄
Some of us can’t afford to have a different theme or ornaments every year 😅👍🏻
Just catching up on the videos and saw your comment ...
OMG
Hello....! Uhhhh....YEAH !
@@deloresbembry7079 agree
Ahhh, nope - Some over decorate, but folks do what you like and what makes you enjoy your home - it’s your home, your life so please enjoy it - if you’re a little too over zealous one year, you can always tone it down the next year. I see designers who like to tell others what to do
- listen to them if you like, but frankly many times their sense of taste is a little out there too.
@@ashleys4652 I am a year late here but omg, I had to comment on how precious this is! What a special bonding time and perfect way to start a day : )
Thank you for the reminder to pause and remember the reason for the season.
Hello
How are you doing today?
I totally agree!
Such a great suggestion Keith! I do that too, always have.
💯
That’s what I have done as well is just add some festive bits to what I have out. Makes it less of a clean up chore when the season is over.
I just can’t start until after my Thanksgiving dinner. I love a beautifully fall laden Thanksgiving table. 🍂🍁🍂🍁
Me too. I know we need a little Christmas, 😃🎶, but I want to be Thankful first.
Amen !!!
same!
I AGREE. GIFTS SHOULD BE FOR THE CHILDREN AND LIMITED TO THREE.
@@robinluich6626 we do "want, need, wear and read". It has worked well.
My husband designed our house to host a REAL 23 foot Christmas tree. Takes 5 adults to put up and three days to decorate. It may be over the top but it means the world to him. Merry Christmas everyone.
Sounds beautiful.
Wow! That sounds beautiful!
That sounds like a lot of fun!
You have a very good man there - Merry Christmas!!!!
Sounds awesome!
Oh my goodness, I can’t watch any more as the laughter is driving me crazyL
Just found this channel and I’m in love but can we all take a moment and appreciate how lovingly he looks at her everytime she’s talking 😭😭 I want someone to look at me like that!!!
Would love a video of transitioning Christmas decor to winter decor!
@@cherylkavanagh3387 I think I like your method of Christmas tree decorating more than a totally coordinated tree.
@@cynthiafialka1199 Thank you, Cynthia. I love my Christmas tree covered with all of the ornaments that I love. To me, it is a work of art.
@@cherylkavanagh3387 I feel the same! My ornaments are not coordinated but they are very special to me!
Love that idea!!
Sounds beautiful
The “Reason for the Season” is Jesus! Nothing else! Love all the rest of the tips :)
Indeed!! ❤️❤️👍🎉🙏✝️
Yes! That's exactly what I was thinking! I enjoy decorating, like the tips, & LOVE having my family together but without JESUS there would be no Christmas.
Happened upon this Christmas video from last year. You're both fantastic now, but I miss the sweetness you two had here,☆♡
You're such an inspiration! We haven't done ANY house projects in 4 years because the last 2 years we put every extra dollar to being mortgage free...as of 2 months ago. Now we're saving to do some fun house projects and I can't wait. Love all the wonderful ideas and definitely black, white, and gray are my favorite colors!
#10 is my favorite. It’s about family. I lost both my parents this year. Christmas will not be the same.
I’m so sorry.

Hello Patricia
How are you doing today?
You guys are so much fun!! I don’t have a large budget but I can pull things from each of your videos that work for me. Thanks for your laughter and inspiration!!
Hello Terri
How are you doing today?
Valentina and Jack, I love all your laughter and honesty and your warmheartedness. Love it, Love it, Love it!
I think everyone should decorate according to there budget and how they want.
Probably the BEST holiday decorating video I’ve ever watched
Wow, thank you!
I agree Angela!
This one was good 👍
I moved just over a year ago and I’m deep in the “trying to fit the old furniture and decor into this completely different space” phase.
I really needed these tips because I felt a little stressed about how to decorate this year.🎄
We don’t all have to be Valentina but she loves her family and she loves what she’s doing.
I love this video. To think of a color palette was such a great idea. And showing us different palettes was even better. I do like
to think about what goes in my house.
Donations to The Salvation Army help more people directly. They are a wonderful charity!
A super skinny tree or a table top tree
Walmart has a whole section of really cute table top tree decor this year
“Sap on my face from the limb”
“let’s see if Louis will say it” 🤣
Yup. Jack, it’s official….you ALWAYS make me chuckle. This past week was amazing Valentina. I loved watching a video every day. Yesterday was sad, lol! How will I ever go back to 3 videos!!

Deccies? You must have small kids. Lol
Me too. I also do the same thing and always go for neutrals. More timeless and elegant.
lights are key!!! I was half tempted to keep my tree as lights only, but couldn't go without the sentimental ornaments!
I have a “family” tree downstairs in our family room with all our personal ornaments on it. Then we have a themed simpler tree in the front room for the big window 🎄
Best of both worlds!
I do the same!
Jack is hilarious and in rare form! Great tips, many mistakes I’ve fallen in to. Totally agree on investing in timeless, quality pieces. Tfs!
Hello S Gardner
How are you doing today?
I remember my son was only six mounths and was very calm, looking so much when we went trough the Christmas decorations in a store. I bought some glass ornamets in a champagne colour. I really loved them but hesitated since I had a very limited budget. I still have them 29 years later. Some beautiful basic ornaments can follow you for so many years. Every time I see the ornaments I remember my son being so little and so cute that day, one of my favourite memories ever. ❤️
I give away things I don't use to charity.
Hello Amyk
How are you doing today?
I LOVE YOUR LAST TIP…because I have to remind myself that every time! Thank you.
I love Christmas decorating and love seeing all of my friends and families style of Christmas decorating. I don’t believe there is a right and wrong way just do what makes you happy and brings the Christmas spirit to your heart. But this was an interesting video. Cute couple..
Loved this video! Jesus is the REAL reason for the season 😇🎄

Hello Kehnaturalista
How are you doing today?
We could never be mad at you . It’s called tough love . Fantastic ideas ! I’m going to up my game and have a more sophisticated look this year . I’m ditching the old greenery .
I do like no high end but I believe there are key pieces that are timeless. Although some do fade get worn from packing and to me that’s when a little add to is needed so maybe every 2-4 years add something. I try to add something every year to change up a look even if only a wreath or new set of color anything to add to and weed out another. Collecting is something so timeless and priceless that is all you and your family memories
Your Xmas decorations should be ,what you like them to be! Just like decorating the inside of your home!!!
*Valentina: some people don't know that they can move their furniture*
*The Grinch: Ö*
Great decorating ideas. I love that Jack took one for the team😂
Did you catch seeing the Cardinals outside in the bushes 🤗 I can’t wait to see your house all decorated,I know it will be stunning. Y’all are such encouraging, positive people, thank you for sharing.
I do like to change things up every year. Not so much into the sentimental things on the tree
You Can also use what you have in a different room & in a different way.
To each their own. But this is a remarkably shallow display of consumerism with all the depth of a holiday display in an airport terminal
Their suggestions are always practical and down to earth. Can so relate
Bronner’s is lovely ☺️
Thank you for that last part which is a reminder of the most important point. The reason for the season is the hardest thing to remember. I think I will make a new To Do list. It will have “Remember the reason for the season!” and I will center my thoughts and actions on that. Be well and happy.
I'm looking forward to Christmas this year but I have to wait to decorate until I get my Christmas spirit which usually comes with the snow. Thank you for your tips and heart felt words about enjoying family time. ♥️

There are no wrong decorating mistakes, do what makes you happy and creates memories. However, I believe this applies to inside the house. Outside be a good neighbor.
Loving the cardinals in the trees out the back windows
Your dog is adorable! What a face. Thank you so much for this video. I especially like what you said about using the same stuff every year. Not only is it boring but the decorations begin to look tired and worn. I am learning that spray paint and shopping your own stuff can save you money and make everything look new and unique
