These white stripes indicate floor level if matching the red stripes, shown at 11:10. This helps leveling when manually winding during rescue operation.
Some early digital control with direct start power relays... and my guess as why the motor is so wonky (angry), it seems to be running on only two phases.
Speaking of lifts with attitude and "personality", have you ever seen the Dutch 1983 horror movie "De Lift" (The Lift)? It's about an elevator system in an office building that seems to have gotten a mind of its own and starts killing off its passengers! So an elevator mechanic is send in to inspect the elevator but nothing out of the ordinary can be found. Then, a security guard gets his head decapitated... Yes, it's ridiculous but its one of the better Dutch horror movies out there and is considered a classic. There's also an American 2001 remake called "Down" and its even more ridiculous and over the top than the Dutch version however the movie didn't do very well. I say go watch it you're curious but I recommend watching the Dutch version first. The movie "De Lift" can be watched on RUclips here: ruclips.net/video/WHK8TXDZSU0/видео.html without English subtitles, or here: ruclips.net/video/wH_52z3LCQA/видео.html with English subtitles but the audio seems to be muted for one minute at the beginning.

The motor (And possibly the control gear, if not the lift overall) come from an Italian company, so it's possible they had/recycled some engineering knowhow from Fiat Ferroviaria... 😉
I dont know brittish generics, but I guess, Telematique controllers. Btw. You need a Rode videomic to upgrade sound quality. Look at my videos, most of them have rode sound and it is just amazing! I have used rodemic since 2014.
I went to an old car park today that is about to be converted to a premier inn, with some very old skool lifts present. Pushed the button, button lights up but lift does not come. Sadly the motor room had one of the overhead entrance hatches with a sturdy padlock tightly shut. Another 'death of a lift'.
Same with these - according to the council, these lifts are being replaced in November 2019, because they haven't worked since this video was published, and an "independent investigation found that they are too costly to maintain". I would hazard a guess that they are going to be modernised by Kone or a generic company.
Definitly hear some relays but only a few. My guess it’s some early solid state controller. The lifts are in not so good condition, I see some oil leaks on the ground below the right lift’s motor. It also sounds like the motors need a revision, something sound really worn on them, like the bushes of an old vacuum cleaner motor or perhaps some worn out bearings. I wonder how well these lifts are looked after. Owner saving some money here?
dykodesigns2yt probably contractors you’re hearing. Even with brand new lifts, there will be some relays and contractors to control the power supplies. They won’t be relay logic, but there will be some of the stuff in there to do certain things, mainly power supply switching.
Somehow I get the feeling the controller is going to be some cheap (relatively speaking) PLC-based thing. These really don't look like the sorts of things that would have a nice controller on them.
Star and delta contractors could have been inadvertently reversed during modernisation? I was on a job installing a new supply cable to a lift panel where the star and delta contractors were incorrectly labelled, and operated in the reverse sequence (start in delta, run in star) which reduces the torque to 1/3 of the delta torque
I may have mentioned this before also, but open delta configuration will result in a power 66.7% of the rated power output. Could be an open winding or burned winding etc.
Happy New year to you and your family. That motor sounds as though it struggling to move the lift do you think maybe they need to install a beefier motor?
They do - but keep one lift original. Lock it off with a Dewhurst keyswitch that lift enthusiasts can use. Replace the motor of the other lift with a newer one.
One of two lifts at work broke down so often it got its own Facebook page and support group. It is a1994 Schindler and was modernised a couple of years ago and finally the problems stopped. Recently it has started braking down again though. Always the same right hand lift.
