It's crazy how much my perception has changed regarding NP levels. I used to want one of every character and thought that NP levels are straight up a waste, now I wish I could trade like 70% of my servants for higher NP levels for specific servants.
Well, if you are talking 4*'s and below, I have always appreciated the fact that getting a NP2+ version can make a big difference. For example, I would contend that Ushi (3*) does more damage on her NP (at NP5) than Ozy (5*) at NP1. NP1 Ushi just doesn't hit as hard obviously. Habetrot just doesn't hit as hard at NP1 as she does at NP5 either. It makes a big difference at clearing content efficiency. So, obviously NP level does matter for anyone who uses 4* or below servants a lot as damage dealers. Really, that's the position many newer players are at unless they spend money. You are correct that chasing extra copies of 5*'s is best reserved for after you have played the game for a year or two, or spend a chunk of money.
Story locked/Limited 3🌟 is one the vile thing this game has done. Low rarity should never be limited. I don't know any other gacha did this BS like FGO.
I've resigned myself to not rolling for Servants until next year, to save up as much Saint Quartz and as many tickets as I can. I had to drop Nemo/Noah from my summons list to allocate the SQ elsewhere. Thankfully, a lot of the Servants I want to roll for have a chance of being Lucky Bag Servants or Destiny Order, with Gilgamesh overlapping on the Merlin banner. All I'll say is, thank God for the 8th Anniversary event coming in July-that roughly 350 Saint Quartz will be desperately needed, as I have to roll for Popess Johanna, Bazett, Merlin, Tiamat, Nero Drago, Scáthach, and Kukulkan (June banner). And then, hopefully (or maybe not), Gilgamesh, Skadi, Medusa, Skadi Ruler, Lady Avalon, Cleopatra, Castoria, Iskandar, and Sen no Rikyū (hoping I can get Tea Grandma with tickets).
The amount of bait banners in this game is unreal. If Jalter had her battery buff already I'd be rolling for a 3rd copy, but until then I'm gonna postpone that and save up for LB7 and Draco
Next is the event that we get Kashin Koji right? I wish they removed musashi's data lost. Also, just wanted to say that Billy the kid is the best servant in FGO.
your comment about the community saying 'you have to have np2+' for certain servants reminds me a lot of the discourse around arcuied. i love her, but i'm a poor ass dude so I went hard with what i could and could only get np1. yeah she's not clearing high end event nodes or anything, but with koyan and my mlb black grail she's basically clearing all other content in the game for me brainlessly(low level nodes for mat grinding, rank up and interlude quests, etc). so, i don't regret only having np1 of her at all. sorry for the rant.

Why are the events getting more grindy an event characters ascension material is usually gotten as you progress that events story so why are they being put in the event shop
not going to summon on any of these, the next one I'm considering is Kintoki. I will definitely summon Castoria berserker so I'm still not sure if I want to get Kintoki to NP2, other than that, I'm not planning on anything else rest of the year.
Imagine if the only servants you are hyped about are Andromeda and Wandjina. You are waiting for some interesting servants to come out but you know it is going to be yet another boring Saber-face or Sakura-face

Just out of curiosity. I believe Nero bride gets a rate up in for a fate extra event soon too. Who would you recommend rolling for Bride or Mushashi? I do have all the major supports.
Bride is fine, although if you have the meta supports there's not much special she brings to the table compared to them. She just has a bit of everything; crit damage, NP gain, defense gain and attack buff. It's all ST with the numbers to match. Outside of that, she has her own alignment of Chaotic Bride, which isn't on anyone else in the game (which can help you dodge certain anti-trait NPs). She can also be a capable DPS herself, but that's reliant on how much you like Nero herself more than anything. If you want Bride, don't do it for meta, do it for love. (Same with Musashi.)
Koyo is going to make a huge difference for you if you are running mainly buster teams. However, castoria can be used on most any team as well so both of them are must haves in my book. Oberon is a "nice to have". I have him, but find myself using Castoria or Koyo 50 times more often than Oberon (not kidding). I only use Oberon when a feel like I have to (which is on the hardest content).
I am waiting for Castoria and Oberon. That said I don’t understand why people like Castoria over Merlin. Merlin is too far into next year so I am going for Castoria but I get the thing for her.

That's normal, variety is way more important early on but as you build a proper roster then higher investment into individual servants has more value
