Hacker, I hope that you can help me to understand this situation. I see now that this is played at women's net height, I suppose because the team is mixed male and female. In America when we lower the net for coed play we also stipulate that the men may not block or spike at the net. This gives the women a much stronger, almost equal attacking role, and the men can still whale away as hard as they want from the 3 meter line, just as back row attackers normally do. We think the game is more fun when the women hit, too.
In these games you show, which I loved to watch until I understood the net height business, the women still get the subservient job of supporting the men, who seem to think it is fun to shoot fish in a barrel. Why do you bother to lower the net? Go back to playing normal coed at men's height, and the games will be more interesting contests. I suppose that as a society, Japanese people just cannot shake off the idea that women are servants to men.
It seems like Japanese men need to hit on a girls' net with no block in order to feel like sportsmen. This was never my idea about Japanese athletes, until now.

As an American, you said a whole bunch of nothing just to insult Japanese men who play sports for literally no reason. The reason the net is on a women's net is because both the men and women agreed to play at that height because they themselves are OK with the men spiking and them receiving because they are a lot tougher and can actually play defense. Also they are on average a lot shorter than most countries so the men really aren't that tall, they can just jump really high because they are all athletes. If you have a problem with it don't watch, but don't go insulting Japanese culture, men, and the players because you just don't agree with how they play. Also it's weird of you to assume all Japanese men treat women subservient and the women aren't capable of playing with the men because they are they just fine if you actually watch. Also I've watched other countries play coed volleyball and the women playing on men's nets aren't nearly as good defensively as the women playing in these videos with men spiking on a 224cm net. They also can hut just fine so I don't see what your problem is when they clearly don't have one and are having tons of fun.

Not sure if you're looking to understand or just wanting to give your criticism. It's a different culture and the way they decide to play volleyball doesn't have to be the same way it's played in the states. I respect your opinion and your freedom to do so. However not sure how you came to the conclusion to make certain claims about another's culture as if America's got everything figured out when it comes to cultural and societal dynamics.

@@tekboyz15 yea with the way our society is right now we Americans have no right to say anything about another country tbh.
