Spain and Portugal Aug / Sept 2022 - Day 01 - Plymouth to Santander on the Pont Aven

Day 01 of Paul and Karen's epic Grand Tour of Portugal (and a little bit of Spain) 2022: -
After only 12 months in the planning (and waiting 2 years for Karen), today was 260 miles of boring motorway has we headed down from Derby to the ferry port at Plymouth, now waiting and looking forward to the next 21 hours stuck on the ferry as it heads to Santander.
There’s not much that you can do on the ferry, you either get pissed in the bar (which many of the Brit bikers do), eat yourself into a stupor, or like us plumb for something in the middle.
Entertainment is in short supply onboard; You can try your luck in the broom cupboard sized cinema or spend an evening at the cabaret ...
Thankfully the all you can eat buffet is back on the Pont-Aven after a 2 years absence due to covid rules, so we both made the most of that.
Over the course of the next two and half weeks, we'll be taking in some of the best biking roads that Spain and Portugal has to offer, coupled with some great big adventure bike friendly trails (for me mainly, but Karen may give some ago). And food, there will be plenty of pictures of food. So, sit back and enjoy yet another of our road, trail, and gastronomic adventures.
