There was a news report very early on that a water leak erupted at one of the owners home because he was complaining of a $1000 water bill. This kind of underground leak could be the culprit if A) the house was at the top of the hill and B) the leak started AFTER the water meter which is the lateral feeding the home. This would mean that the water had weeks to completely soak the soils, all the way down the street to the last house affected.
"Rolling Hills."...hint, hint. A first year Geology major would take a quick glance and tell you not to built a home there. I want to Know which insurance company would even consider insuring that?
I know usually sudden heavy rains cause landslides, but in this case it seems like that recent minor earthquake may be connected with this situation occurring .
These homes are in Rolling Hills Park Villas, a gated community. They range in square footage from around 1,700 square feet to over 2,800 square feet and in price from approximately $635,000 to $1,540,000. The least expensive home in Rolling Hills Park Villas is 2,148 sq. ft. with 3BR and 2/half BA at $635K. The most expensive home is 2,338 sq. ft. with 3BR, 2/half BA, and 2-car garage at $1.54 million. The monthly homeowners association fees are about $557/month.
When you have a place where houses are built up on hills and mountains and they hardly ever get any rain even a minor earthquake is going to have a more serious effect than normal it seems like.
He identified himself as a City of Rolling Hills building official, yet he's wearing a hard hat from a private firm. Someone should've shown him how to adjust the head band so that it fits properly on his head. It looks dorky as $h*t propped up on the top of his head! Looks like one of those little kid's toy construction worker kits that comes with a tool belt and plastic hard hat. LOL!
The earth is to be shared by all, so these wealthy fools should learn a valuable lesson, the land (nature) and God is reclaiming his earth so it can be shared by all.
This is tragic. For some of these families, this was supposed to be their place to make roots, or to retire in and pass down in the family. And now their investments are absolutely worthless.

Yeah, I've never been fond of that hairdo, which is typically in the over-50 age group of chicks. She reminds me of the chicks who worked in our HR department with their typical canned talking points.
America is falling apart an the Whitehouse is worried the Ukraine w/ a Cokehead present.. Don't build on shaky ground, time weight an Nature always win.. 😏🇺🇸
Rolling hills, sounds like it's appropriately named, so sad this is happening. This is most likely just the beginning, it's akin to a sinkhole. All part of global change, first the land dries out from drought and shrinks. Then a wet season comes along and causes the dry ground to absorb water and settles with the flow of water. I believe you should never, ever build on a bank, these houses were unfortunately.
The area should be re-named Sliding Hills Estates
Slippery Slopes
Nobody was prepared???
"Rolling hills" isn't a huge red flag that the hills may roll even more in the future
Rolling hills are rolling

Who cares, they’re rich and should have homeowners insurance.
They will NEVER learn. When we leave this earth, you leave like you came in, naked and without material possessions.
Sad Indeed. Once again, Mother nature takes control. We are just in her way. The earth will continue to move and change...right under our feet. 😎😎😎😎

Are there no new updates? Everything showing here is 2 months old, and that's not news.
