Watched the video, Bought one for a big rewire in a 3 story victorian house and as long as you chase the boxes neatly it goes like s**t off a shovel! Flies on capping. Love it to bits and is a time saver.
Great feedback 👍 get signed up you could win another 😉
I am currently working on a office to apartment refit , the previous electrician had used one of these to fix back boxes , cables brackets , tray etc . Now when socket boxes are in the wrong place you have to destroy them to get them off , the cable brackets fixed into the blocks of block and beam ceilings are falling out because they are too short and the tray is useless because it's not spaced off so you can't get zip ties onto it . Overall it's useless and has saved no time whatsoever.
I would say the sockets being in the wrong place and destroying boxes isn't the fault of the fitter or gun. They served their purpose for the original install. I'm sure you don't do your installs now making sure it easy to remove and move for someone in the future do you? I agree that the tray was sounds like it was done badly by the original installer but that's not the fault of the gun. It also sounds like he used nails that were too short which again was the installer. The gun definitely saved a lot of time for the original installer and you cant complain that its hard to remove as its pointless moaning.
@@theosporge276 the point is if screws had been used they could be UN screwed . Nails cannot .
It just reminds me of how cowboy install bashers would erect kit. That new fangled contraption would get nowhere near any of my sexy, beautiful Mineral Insulated Installs and renewals. It reminds me of a damaged record ruining an expensive stylus. I'll leave this for the PVC gangs to get wet dreams over.
@@theosporge276 It's like unfixable and repairable appliances. Spot Welded motors you can't change brushes on. You've just said it all really. The throw away society has reached fixed wiring systems. I liken this to a cheap Beko washing machine put together for someone on a budget, where the flex is only just long enough to cut costs compared to a fully repairable, well built machine from Miele with a long flex and screws that don’t just spin round.
@dennisphoenix1 the video also showed that there are screws versions of this. That's what I would've used.
the secret behind being able to drive nails into steel is actually quite simple, and it is none other than Mr. Jeremy Clarkson said it best. pooooowwwweerrrr
Looks great, only problem is I would need a bigger van if I get anything else 😁 anyone made a thunderbird 2 style van with interchangeable pods for different jobs?
Looks similar to the paslode/Ramset/Hilti shoot up guns that we use in Australia, come with different fixings for cable tie securing “donuts”. Apparently some can be used for securing anchors in concrete for cable tray supports as well. The strength of the concrete can affect the success of these guns, blow outs are quite common and if it’s a finished surface, looks pretty bad.
Looks like it is made by Ramset according to the charger.
This is mainly a first fix machine, I would use it in areas where its not going to be visible ie above a ceiling fixed to concrete for hangers etc. i would not use it for capping as its too much a risk of hitting a cable where as a hammer you get a better feel.
Do you have the part number for the screw head pins can’t find them anywhere
How good is it on the tough old red brick?
Would the nails hold a metal back box in place for a socket on a block wall or will they overtime come loose with plugs being pulled in and out?
I've come across boxes nailed in with these before and you need a crowbar to pull them off!
I use these type of fixing to secure steel straps into steel beams and the only way to take them off is be using a hand grinder. A back box will never work loose from one.
4:50 don’t suppose you have a product code for that pvc coated black flat band?
Wonderful tool. I’m currently using similar gun. It’s changing a game, how easily and fast we can clip cable to concrete ceilings, make cable roads it’s incredible.
Great feedback thanks
Does a client get a choice in how their installation is fixed? If I found nailed in accessories and capping in a new house I’d purchased I’d be asking the builder to change it. Also if a contractor had done it too.
@@montystelevision3238 if you bought a new house and the biggest snag was the fixings used in the electrics, you'd be a lucky man indeed 🤣
Would you be the same about whether the studwork is metal or wood, what fixings were used on the plasterboard, the brand of electrical accessories, brand of plumbing fittings etc?
@@montystelevision3238 your comment didn't explain why, or any constructive details apart from "I don't like it"
@Monty's Television sure, if they pay more I'll even pull out my grandads bit and brace to bore the joists
Good for fixings not boxs
There's a special place in hell for people who nail back boxes on 😂
And they will get to meet Gordon 😂
What happens to the orange plastic in a fire ???
With such a disproportionate number of shots in the battery vs the gas cartridge (20x !), you'd think it would be worth just including a small alkaline battery with the cartridge, it would only need to cover the 500 firings and then you'd replace both together.
You have to recharge the battery I’m guessing that’s why. You can then get away with the one battery and charge at the end of your day? Just my thoughts
House Bashers will love this, but not me
Hourly rate mentality. Saves time which will in turn save money so why not use it?
How much will a buyer get off their house because this has been used to pin the electrics together on the hurry up compared to doing it the longer and more workman like route?
Fire in a concrete ceiling and compare with a blowtorch against red plugs and clips etc 💥💥
Looks great, I was tempted to buy it but read the comments. I too have doubts about mechanical strength, mis-firing and how it doesn’t look neat. Concept is great though 👍🏻
I won’t be buying..
Hasn’t Hilti been doing this for years
Great review but no good for breeze block or other low density materials as they just fall out
We tested it on breeze block in the video - no problems. We will take a look at Thermalite blocks.
@@efixx did you ever look at Aircrete/Thermlite blocks?
Nay, nay and thrice nay. I’ll stick to winding my gramophone with screws. I’d use it for erecting a fence though.
😂
Bang, bang, shit, expanding foam.
Used one for last 14 years, ok if substrate will hold the nail, ie to soft or hard nail won’t get a grip blowing brick away.
Then cost of nails and gas soon adds up….
I use in mainly for capping wires.
Bit of a tip use builders band across capping to keep nails a good distance away from cables.. the nails do sometimes bounce/ slip of brick work.
I would class this tool a high end luxury tool, in my opinion, not essential but comes in handy.
I would say the time saved definitely out ways the cost of nails and gas. It all depends on how much you value your time and whether you want to spend more and finish a job faster to get onto the next one.
@@theosporge276 I agree with the time saved and cost but l prefer the quality finish to my work my spit pulsa doesn’t guarantee this.
I am not saying the gun doesn’t have its place it’s just limited.
In fact I was looking at mine just recently and thinking of selling it….
I m from india
The squished plastic that's left looks a bit shit.
Is this not a good old fashion Hilti gun with a different name? 🤔
No
Used Hilti guns years ago but this method of fixing can be dangerous. Using the wrong fixing can blast it through a wall, hitting someone on the other side.
I remember many years ago a mate was working in an office over the weekend, fired a Hilti nail into what he thought was brick, found it embedded in the wall at the other end of what normally would have been a busy office on a weekday.
Not with a gas machine, a PAT gun? yes
“Condyoot” 0:33
Saw someone use one to fix FP with the clips, looked god awful
It’s ideal for capping, but any spark that uses it to fix back boxes to the wall , or to fix any other fittings to the wall s should be sacked , also what is the firing pressure ? As it is gas fired it will need to be under 12 foot pounds, if it is more than that then it is classed as a firearm and you will need a firearms license. The same law that applies to air rifles and pistols .
would be no good on a brick wall only concrete block
We’ve used this on brick without any problems. Of course bricks 🧱 are not all created equal.
Would be very useful if you started telling us the cost of all the kit you try out. It would save time looking for it then finding out it costs an arm and a leg. For me the big disadvantage is being stuck to one fixing suppler. I use to use the Ramset gun but the cost of fixings was out of this world.
And that’s why they don’t mention the cost. Agree on being locked into a ecosystem of fixings.
Definitely you ever tried to take an old box out that's only held in by one clout nail
This is not new was using this 10 years ago! Stopped using as not great in concrete as lots of shattering of the concrete and the fixing would fall out also not great with RSJs if the nails are too long! Please show new products please
The 27E is a new version - RSJ nails too long, easy solution - use shorter nails 😂
@@efixx
Now you are teaching experienced tradesmen how to suck eggs! When I had already explained these tools are not new and not up to the job!
You seem to be only interested in promoting products regardless if they are good or not. And unlike your original post which used to give the pros and cons (which were very informative), now you just promote anything that pays!
This is new kit for lots of electricians who haven’t tried nailers. The 27 E is based on feedback from the previous version 40E - shorter tool length etc.
Why no price? That’s the most important thing we need to know about
It will take you about 5 seconds to find out the price with a simple google search.

We use these to fix fire alarm clips in concrete half the time I get fed up with them misfiring or blowing large chunks of concrete out and just go back to an SDS and metal plugs. Would never use them to fix anything else I would consider that a bodge and unprofessional just another reason why the whole building industry is going down the toilet with shoddy workmanship. If you cut the hours / days down it takes to do a job then you get stuff poorly installed and bodged. Go and ask a top chef like Gordon Ramsay to cook you your food in a microwave and see what the answer is, same principle.
Agreed! I also find that the fire clips don't close properly once the nail sticks out a bit and I've seen colleagues hammer clips shut, most likely damaging the cable. Chunks of concrete in your face aren't fun either
@@y3v1k you must use the same clips as us, complete nightmare if the nail isn't flush I end up having to use a metal cable tie to close. Love it when the clips come out the ceiling as you try to clip the cable up and you get a face full of concrete splinters.
@@chalky1150 haha yea must be the same as I end up using metal ties as well 😅
Would be worth it if it didn't use overpriced gas. If other companies like Hikoki can create completely gas free nailers, there's no excuse other than their desire to sell us more consumables we don't need.
The physics behind driving a pin through steel are quite complex: it's a hardened pin and the gun smacks it really, really hard 😜
I've used framing nailguns before and for those the precision isn't as critical as you can knock things about after your first nail and then add more nails. I noticed this seems to slide the accessories up a few mm when it drives the pin through - do you just have to account for that or was that just down to holding it at an awkward angle for filming?
Seems very expensive kit, not only first time investment, running cost too, not worth it.
dont do it .... have some respect for the sparkies who'll be on the job after you when needs change and the install needs modifying.
Nope i wont go back to nailing on boxes it was a bad idea 50 years ago and its still a bad idea
Very nice use it to keep your cap fixed to your head on a windy day 😁🐔🤡
