- Never let a mix be held hostage again by insufficient computer resources. Learn how a Waves SoundGrid server can turbocharge your system to run more plugins in your DAW than ever before. Learn more: www.waves.com/...
You don't have the money to upgrade your Mac but you can buy one of these? You could also try using freeze in pro tools you know
Cheaper than a new computer, and comes with 80+ plugins.
Pro tip to Maximize Your Plugin Count: Don't use Pro Tools... I don't really feel like changing to another DAW, but I get Reaper sessions from bands from time to time and it is such a smooth DAW. I can have way more plugins running with Reaper then Pro Tools.
Try cubase
@@lloyd9673 Yes Nuendo big time!
Waves has the audacity to think I'm mixing only using there plugins lol
I totally agree.. it takes a lot for me to go to their sight and look anymore.
*their* plugins...
@@gorf101 their *site*
@@ytnsanw you must be fun at parties🙄
Let’s agree, nowdays 98% of your mix is waves plugin ,2% hardware
Well the price of that wave box is high also. Lol
Does the server still work on the new studiorack version that supports vst3 plugins ?
I would also like to know that
So the answer is, spend more than the cost of a computer on a Waves DSP accelerator and only use Waves plugins?
You mean: Buy Waves only compatible hardware for your outdated computer. Nope sorry. I would prefer any non Avid certified warehouse gaming pc over soundgrid.
"I can replace my Mac Book mini for around $1600", but then I can then use any plugins I want. Versus... I can buy a $1000 Waves server (2/3 the cost of a new Mac Book) and only use waves plugins. Doesn't seem to compute to me. On the other hand... if I built a PC and find that my processor is tanking... I simply go out and buy a $400 monster processor and install it in my PC. Bamb! problem solved for a fraction of the cost. Apple handcuffs are hilarious IMHO.
I guess for some people that invested a lot of money into waves already, it makes sense to invest in a server. But yeah in this situation i would simply buy a new mac mini (or a new computer), or maybe upgrade it a bit.
big sur is a joke too if you are into warez
will switch back to windows after ~7 years of mac :(
Does soundgrid work with fl studio??
Soundgrid plays audio at 48k sample rate, so what happens if I open 96k project 🤔??
Is that for all plugins or only for waves plugins?
Waves only
Waves only.
It's a bit like VSL ensemble pro 7 then, although that allows you to use any computer hardware and any plugins🤘😎
not enough cpu for mixing??? ****laughs in ryzen 3950x!!!
So... I'm using a dedicated PC for waves soundgrid, AND I'm using an impact server, AND I'm not using that many plugins, doing live mixing on my X32, AND my soundgrid CPU is maxing out, while my PC CPU is doing next to nothing... Something's not working right.
Hi there, our tech support department is open 7 days a week and will be more than glad to assist. Please contact us directly: www.waves.com/contact-us
Does it not seem cost effective for a company such as yourselfs to make a unit like this that’ll work on all vst’s. Everyone will buy one then. I use a few waves plugins but not enough to want to buy one.
Great video ! and I love waves but a waves proton server is not cheap either it’s almost 50% of the apple 🍏 upgrade. On the other hand with the M2 Macs going up in price it’s cheaper to buy a server and work on the old computer 😂🎉
How does this solve the problem of latency?
The soundgridOS is based off of Linux kernel 4.19 if my memory is right, but to run this on an old machine you already own you would have to pay for proprietary licenses from QT and money to others which would in effect cost as much or more than the Waves server because they can buy a distribution Multi license for hundreds of machines cheaper than you could actually install it on one machine yourself. How do I know this because we tried to reverse engineer the OS for better audio on the Linux desktop from a dis-guarded impact server we found in a Nashville pawn shop but some of the components are not open source and it was nothing more than a fun project that went nowhere. This is actually a good idea if you also do live work as well with something like the E-motion mixer or Mainstage but with 6 cores and 12 thread CPUs being standard parts today I don't think this would benefit most people in a studio only setting. But it is great for live work and keeping latency under control. Most digital mixers are running Linux under the hood such as Allen&Heath, Midas/Behringer, Soundcraft, And Waves. But audio for the Linux desktop is still TRASH. I just wish some of these companies would help the open source community to reduce latency and help to develop a core-audio like solution for linux, sure using the Jack app with qjackctl is an option but it is just terrible. Come on #Waves share back some code with the community we need the help and everyone would benefit including Waves.
They shared they code some time ago, did you see it?
Yeah , studio rack is free but it only uses YOUR PLUGINS. I downloaded it and found this out so it is absolutely useless to me.. I do have your plugins but I also have other companies plugins that I prefer for mixing . Is a case of your products over my preference and is this a giant waste of time?
Good Work. Greetings.
Anyway to mix waves plugins with other plugins, along side with SoundGrid DSP processing?
It used to be possible, but other plug-in manufacturers have not developed in their format for the newer version, so it isn't possible since V9
Wow I need this for all my plugins 🥶
It only works with waves plugins
Sure, if "all your plugins" come from Waves.
Will this resolves my P.T from just spiking even without plugins?
SG servers are meant to offload the processing power of Waves plugins only so it won't change the CPU spikes you get with no plugins on your session, you can try raising your buffer size though
Thank u 🙏🏾I’ve raised the buffer size & still experiencing same issue
NO
Buy a Windows PC with Cubase and use the Freeze button. Save money, save time, save patience and avoid memory management problems like these.
Umm save time?? Its takes time to freeze a track, the example above is the best way to save processing power using Waves plugins.
Definitely takes time to freeze a track and it’s annoying, also you can do that in live and other daws as well not just Cubase
richard t ya I agree, I definitely think that the tech people really need to come up with a really good solution to this ongoing problem with all plug-ins
Works also in pro tools, ableton, logic, pretty much any daw can save CPU this way. And you can save $999 on one of these boxes by just going to get a coffee while your tracks freeze.
@@dmn2273 it takes a few minutes to freeze a track. How much time does it take to earn $999 and then go buy a soundgrid box?
Can i use the same process in Windows?
Hi @Benjamin Castillo, yes :) Our SoundGrid systems can work on both Mac and Windows computers.

Hi Can i Use soundgrid server on Cubase 10.5 ?
Yes, of course... The most important tools is Studio Rack
Imagine Waves throwing us a bone and releasing a dedicated SoundgridOS server download to install on unused desktops and laptops we have around the house.
Waves please do this!
The soundgridOS is based off of Linux kernel 4.19 if my memory is right, but you would have to pay for proprietary licenses from QT and many others which would in effect cost much more than the Waves server costs because they can buy a distribution Multi license for hundreds of machines cheaper than you could actually install it on one machine yourself. That would be a great Idea, I have a spare i7 machine with 24Gb of RAM, but buying such a server is waste of money. Nice try though to try to sell these.
But their is an alternative called AudioGridder which works the same way with all VST VST3 & Audio Unit plugins for Mac, windows & Linux
Music Factory Studios Thanks for the heads up. Just downloaded audiogridder and got it working on an unused macbook pro.
$999, though. Good product but not cheap.
It costs 1000$+ tho :)
Doesn't SoundGrid work for plugin alliance too?
The latest version of soundgrid doesn't and plugin alliance have stopped developing soundgrid plugins. You can use an older version of soundgrid with a small selection of PA plugins.
Simply.. no
Just get another PC with AudioGridder
In some moment one only brand will release an universal external DSP for any kind on plugin or brand. That day all hese brands trying to create a monopoly will be missing that huge amount of money they’ll be losing for taking the most miser decisions in the past.
having a server are good.......
but it cost arms and legs too #cry
If you were coming to drop a decent discount code with the video, we would be more receptive. That box is half the price you quoted for a new computer, and the new computer would be better than that box.
Why are we whispering?
you can actually buy an M1 mac mini with 16 gb of ram for like $800 right now.
Can’t believe this was the option 😂
You could try not using an overpriced mac and spend the money you save on a better processor and more RAM.
When you mix 64 channels, even a 5000 mac pro will not be enough to run 3 plugins per channel loooool
I love that there are people actually thinking for themselves !!!
Lol Pro Tools gives an error before 100% cpu usage.
But I have a Win 10 mini
Are you kidding me?
Tf I said too
4 threads...... In 2020.......................
.......
I'll tell you what you do........Get rid of pro tools for starters, that in itself would probably solve the problem for 95% of users !
Non sense cant buy a mac mini but u can buy SG wkwkwk
these comments are hilarious.........
Be serious, I have impact server and can not handle that many plugins, even my server one or the extreme, don't sale ourselve stay true.
You are better than this
Hi pcouto1000, please note that the amount of plugins an Impact Server can run depends on several variables and can change dramatically when taking all these variables into account. It will depend on the server's buffer size value, on the sample rate you're using, which plugins you're using, whether you're using stereo or mono components and which host you're using. In order to maximize the amount of plugins that can be loaded onto the Impact Server, please make sure to use a higher buffer size value, make sure you're using the mono components of the plugins whenever it's possible as opposed to using stereo components and keep in mind that loading the plugins on a session with a high sample rate value will also take up more processing power from the server.
In addition, some plugins are more CPU intensive than others and the amount of resources they would take will also depend on whether you're using MultiRack/SuperRack or StudioRack. To learn more about the benchmarks of the Impact Server, please visit the following page on our website: www.waves.com/hardware/soundgrid-impact-server#tab-tech-specs
Moreover, if you wish to compare benchmarks between the servers, feel free to visit the 'Compare Servers' page on our website as well: www.waves.com/compare-servers
