  • Here is the VFX Breakdowns for the Rise VFX Sequence.
    The incredibly talented Zybrand Jacobs was the VFX TD on this project, responsible for all CG work. He did an amazing job creating and animating the pyramid and handling all ocean simulations.

    I shot the live action footage and handled compositing in Adobe After Effects CC and used videocopilot's Element 3D for some of the landscapes.

      VFX Productions I’ve been doing that for a year and so far all I have gotten for jobs is wedding photography. And people know me for my photoshops as well. But videography is what I like most but vfx has my heart. It’s tough 😰

    • @VFXProductionsRT
      @VFXProductionsRT  4 года назад

      @@CaseyGray58 it is tough I was just doing my own projects for years before I got hired for something and then I did years of free or really cheap work, keep at it and just try making different vfx projects and shots to learn from and you could build up a reel if you want

    • @CaseyGray58
      @CaseyGray58 4 года назад

      VFX Productions you have any tips on some beginner friendly vfx shots? Stuff I can pull off by myself? I get so overwhelmed looking at tutorials and not knowing what to start on. I know after effects and premiere and blender.. but I just got Nuke for a year and I really want to start using it. But where to start 😭 What was this sequence made with? Maya?

    • @VFXProductionsRT
      @VFXProductionsRT  4 года назад

      @@CaseyGray58 oh nice! I've never used Nuke I only use after effects and done tiny amounts in blender so far. I didn't do the water sims or pyramid that was all Zybrand the VFX TD who used Houdini. In terms of effects cloning is the main one people start out with, maybe trying interactions like handing yourself an object or something. Could try movie titles which I usually enjoy. Or trying a decent green screen shot matching lighting. And recently I've been studying existing shots from movies etc and either replicating them or doing shots heavily inspired by them and I feel like I've learned a lot from that when you actually try and break down what is going on

    Exceptional high quality VFX for RUclips, astonishing work man. You should really consider making a course (free or paid). I'd definitely watch it. How did you learn all this? I'm struggling to find tutorials with such high quality. Well done :)

    • @VFXProductionsRT
      @VFXProductionsRT  5 лет назад +3

      Thank you so much, I have to say our VFX TD on this project created the pyramid and all water sims, I was the compositor so I was equally highly impressed with his work. For myself I just learned from tutorials from channels such as Videocopilot and Film Riot and working on my own projects trying to do different vfx things with each one to try out what I could do. I have been thinking of a course and definitely could do that in the future. I am a member of Film Riot and we show vfx tutorials from time to time and have a lot planned in the future especially with a project I'm currently working on, but yes an actual course is something I should think more about.

      @@VFXProductionsRT Cool man, yeah I also watched your Extinction VFX Breakdown and recognized some VideoCopilot stuff. You really have an eye for cinematography, apart from your technical knowlegde etc. You got all the small things right (like chromatic aberration) which make the image feel rich and complete, I really want to get to that level and nail all the details. What are your goals for the future, you want to get hired for big movies? Just curious :)

I hope you like this project I'm working on, some of my favourite vfx shots I've done and will have a breakdown on here in a couple months. And I don't actually want a career in VFX, I want to be a director so I'd love for that to happen in the future :)
