    I took Luvox during 1994-1996 and came off it on my own. Went from 1996-2019 with no real issues with coping/depression. However, 2019 i developed Graves Disease and it has created havoc on my emotions - my doctor today is putting me back on Luvox for depression after testing me. So, we will see how it is 30 years later.

    Do you use this med much to treat social anxiety disorder? I see that it is FDA approved for that. Curious how it compares in clinical practice to sertraline or escitalopram for social anxiety. It has several favorable studies for treatment of social anxiety disorder. Maybe the SSRIs that target sigma-1 (sertraline, fluvoxamine) are the best for social anxiety for some reason? Just a curious SAD patient, not a doctor. Thank you

    Started luvox back in January 2017, I went from 150 pounds to 290 pounds in about 2 years. Almost double my weight. Stopped it last October. Got all I could from it. Trying to lose the weight but it kind of screwed my metabolism.

      Do you think you gained because of a side effect of the med, or were you just being easier on yourself ? I gain on ssris that supposedly don’t cause weight gain and I’ve always wondered why. Luvox through, so far, I’ve been able to lose some weight counting calories.

    • @neuroplastic3142
      @neuroplastic3142 Год назад

      @@Pepi86753 it was probably a combination of both being easier and side effects but I was always thin and always ate whatever I wanted so I don't think my eating habits changed too much and that's why I think it was mostly a metabolism slowing side effect

      How long did the withdrawals last? I’m going from 200mg to 150mg for a month before further tapering and it’s been 4 days and I feel pretty crumby :( I’ve been on it for like 8 years. Prior to that I was on Pristique and THAT was a nightmare to come off.

      Well, I wrote this comment 11 months ago, around August 2023. I was off it for a couple of months, using only sleeping pills and lorazepam. The withdrawal effects lasted a couple of months untill I started a new medication, Viepax. It is wonderful and also very helpful with migrains and hot flushes (menopause)
      I have read in several sources that fluoxetine can support the withdrawal period fron gluvoxamine, under proffessional supervision ofcourse...

      @@nellikrogius3717 thank you for the reply! I’ve settled a little but am thinking the next lowered dose will be smaller and gradual.
      I suffer constant fatigue and have had every test done and my psychiatrist believes it’s my dose of anti-depressant. That or the fact I no longer need it due to therapy and an ADHD diagnosis.

    since luvox is specifically used for ocd, do we know if luvox works better for ocd than say zoloft?

    • @LevelheadedMind
      @LevelheadedMind  Год назад +3

      Not necessarily, most people will tolerate sertraline better. But if that doesn't work, then I'd try Luvox.

      Mam, I am a medical representative. In our company every month they set a target to sell the medicines. Due to reduce the pressure given by the company I started taking .25mg of Alprazolam. After some months I took .5mg a day. It got increased upto 10 to 15 gms daily. When I know I got addicted to the drug, I want to get rid of Alprazolam. My psychiatrist recommend to take Quitipine, fluvoximine 50mg,and Zolpidem twice daily and Nitravit 10mg once daily. Now after 1 year struggle with these medicines I came out of Alprazolam addiction. But now I am feeling I got addicted to these Drugs. I tried a weak of not taking these medicines. Again I went to deep depression and sleepless. I don't know what to do?. Nowadays without these medicines I feel I am out of control. I don't know what to do.😢

      No, Luvox is not better for OCD than other SSRIs. In fact, all SSRIs can be used to treat OCD. It's just that Luvox is ONLY FDA-approved for treatment of OCD.

    What is the most effective antidepressant? 🙂

    • @LevelheadedMind
      @LevelheadedMind  Год назад +3

      That's a subjective answer as every patient will respond differently. From my experience and opinion, I'd say Bupropion, but now with this new one out, Auvelity, that could be better but the jury is still out to see how effective it really is.

      @noahleppin6799 An SSRI is Typically used adjunctively with those, Like escitalopram or sertraline. Though, it really depends on what antidepressants work best for you and what you are treating.

      So I might be able to cut down on the what the benzodiazepines I'm not sure what to do thank you and I'm in the car texting voice texting so it's coming out lousy

      I'm hoping you have some good advice.
      My dose is high but constant, for decades
      I don't have memory loss
      Five 2mg a day as needed and 1mg clonopin 3times day if needed
      I always have a couple of weeks left on a alprazolam.
      Sometimes less with stress.
      I tried along time ago in my 30's for detox but they didn't get the fact that alprazlam and Klonopin are not like alcohol.
      They were all putting the same category only I was reduced to practically nothing and I was so miserable even after I left.
      Any ideas on what to do I would continue I'm 64 years old and and doing well in my job and so forth I just don't want to be incapacitated.
      Thank you so much love levelheaded.
      Much love to you for help
