    When doing the taping you can use a piece of the cereal bag to pressure the tape to the canvas, like you would do for transfers. It will save friction to the fingers. Only brought to my feed in Sept 2024. Goodness what a long wait.

    Do you have a preference in painters tape? Do you find one is better then the others? I'm preparing to add gold leaf to a painting, but it's a super thin border!

    • @vonnart
      @vonnart  Год назад +1

      I find for a canvas, the standard painter tape works well but for my pencil drawings, I definitely prefer the "sensitive" or "delicate" painter tape so it doesn't tear up the drawing!

    Thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us. I have used that same tape and when I pull it off, it tears the paper. What do you so that it isn't so tacky and doesn't tear the paper?

    • @CarolinNobles
      @CarolinNobles 9 месяцев назад

      Paper might be tricky, it looks like he is using a canvas in the video. What you can do with the tape is to stick it to a surface first, like your desk, remove and then use it on your artwork. Make sure the surface is clean and oil free. Also you might try different tape. There is washi tape for example, which is a bit more gentle.

  • @amberdreams_0
    @amberdreams_0 4 года назад +3

    I'm assuming if you were trying this on an actual pencil drawing you'd have to do this step after you'd painted and protected the surface because otherwise the tape could take off the pencil marks with it when you remove it...

    • @vonnart
      @vonnart  4 года назад +2

      Yes that is absolutely correct!!

    This is great, but gotta ask, couldn't you just take a glue & mix with water & apply w really thin brush..do a little bit before it dries & move on. Then any gold leaf that got sneaky in unwanted area, you can just scrape it off? Or would that method be bad? Idk..just a thought. I thought of doing it that way for my paintings 😊

    • @CarolinNobles
      @CarolinNobles 9 месяцев назад

      Paper soaks up the adhesive more than other surfaces. I have tried to do a second layer. You might also get better results with a different size. I heard Mona Lisa by Speedball is supposed to be good but I haven't tried that yet. I will move away from paper, canvas is easier to manage.
