These are some big questions, friend. They usually decide by topic and sentence structure and flow of context. And different translations differ due to different understandings of certain Greek and Hebrew words, and because of disagreement but mainly because some translate it word for word whereas others just want to translate it in a easy way. If you want a thorough guide of this sort of stuff I'd look Leland Ryken's "Which Bible Translation do I use" (some title like that) or if you wanna go super deep you can try Ryken's book, "The Word of God in English" those are technical stuff but they'll help you out if you get through them
And out come the comments from people who have no idea about the history of the church and transmission of the text over time, and only have emotional, unverifiable ascertains that they’ve heard from someone who bore the same traits. Do some critical study of the transmission of the text of scripture and then come back and delete these absurd comments. Be blessed!
I have been using the KJV, since 2011 but just purchased to NASB Study Bible by Pastor John MacArthur, I have been told to stick with the KJV, as the NASB is from corrupt manuscripts. not sure what to do. Please do not get me wrong I really do enjoy listening to Pastor Steven Lawson and Pastor John MacArthur, it is just the translation I have a hard time with.
Those who say the modern translations (namely anything that came after the KJV) are from "corrupt manuscripts" are either intentionally lying to you in order to deceive you, or, they themselves have been deceived and are simply passing along to you the bad information they were indoctrinated with. The basic idea of the so-called "corrupt manuscripts" is primarily promulgated by King James Onlyists, especially those pastors, teachers, and preachers in that group. They like the KJV because many people are not completely familiar with the Elizabethan English used in the KJKV, and so the KJVOnly pastors, preachers, & teachers can more easily manipulate the text to mean something other than what it means. In other words, they eisegete the text. They force their personal biases and beliefs into the text, in order to make the text appear as if it supports that they personally believe and teach. He didn't say to use only the NASB. He's explaining how it helps him prepare his sermons and what he likes about it. He says a couple of times to use the version you prefer and that there are several legitimate English versions. I think he even suggests asking God to help you decide the version best suited to your own needs. It's toward the end of the video.

After doing side by side comparisons of the Authorized version with the modern versions I find that every modern version has more in common with the New World Translation which is the Jehovah's witnesses Bible than they do with the Kjv.
The only New Testament I have found that is translated from the original Hebrew is "The Book of Yahweh". It is the only translation I have found that correctly translates the first verses of the Book of John. Michael Rood found over 2000 errors in translations that came from the Greek.

The portions omitted are not in the best Greek manuscripts. The nasb and esv and CSB are closely to the Greek. The niv is solid version while the message and the passion are only good for trash can liners

the answer is we've found older manuscripts since the 1611 kjv that do not have those verses, meaning they are more accurate and those verses were most likely added in later manuscripts which the kjv translates from

Crys nice cherry picking to try and deceive everyone here. You failed to mention that Matthew 4:4 and 4:8 do say the same thing as the NASB. SO what if it is gone from Luke because it was never in the earliest manuscripts from Luke! So the NASB is MORE accurate than the KJV! So it is still there in Matthew and the reader still gets it. So it is in Matthew and not Luke. Who cares???? It is still there in another book of the bible. @@CrysDawn Hi, I use a KJV Study Bible (the Dake's Annotated) myself but for my Theological studies it's really not that user friendly especially for exegesis. I ended up using NASB, NRSV and NET.
Nkjv for me, first bible I purchased and is what I am very comfortable with.

I use KJV and the Geneva 1560 translations. I have a good literary understanding so both translations are easy for me to understand

A serious student of the Word would consult several translations simultaneously. Bible Gateway (online) makes this very easy to do.

This is just ignorance. KJV Onlyism is man’s religion. The apostles quotes an “unauthorized” translation of the OT constantly-the Greek Septuagint.
The only New Testament I have found that is translated from the original Hebrew is "The Book

But King James is not the most ACCURATE in comparison. If you do a research on the KJV you would see that. It's even using a source that's different
