Fretless bass.
that moment when you find a 5 year old video of rob whilst looking for something else... XD
Now six!
yep!
GoldenTanookiMario5471 nearly 7 😱
That moment when it's now 7 years old
That moment when it’s now 8 YEARS OLD.
A lot of Primus inspiration
The first couple seconds are like 2 steps away from Tommy the cat's bassline
StevenJames 0:31 dude, that's totally golden boy
It sounds like the chorus from lacquer head a lot
The claypool-ness is strong with this one.
finally someone understands!
Nice try Les Claypool but I know it's you.
@94dhk I am actually not sure at the moment and the bass is not near me. I am not to picky with my equipment because I don't really have the money to be. I bought the bass used, and though its not the best, I did a bit of EQ on the audio and got a pretty good tone
@AbyssTrancer much thanks! and its a carlo robelli fretless I believe and the amp is actually a guitar amp lol. I dont have the money for high end equipment, so I use what I can
Someone listens to Claypool :)
Thanks! I'll that in mind
It hurts how bad I want that bass! Perfect tone and fretless sound.....I wish I could like this video 30 times!
@ibstimpy1 I started playing about ten years ago, and yes it is definitely hard to learn at first becaue it takes so much time to build the finger strength to play it. But the music world is so flooded with guitar players that if your son does get to the point of just being able to carry a tune he'll be a shoe in for SO many bands lol
@WeAreBullets thanks for the support!
@lgnlvngstn thanks so much for your support! and if your having trouble getting enough money for a bass, try searching for used ones, I was fortunate enough to get the bass in this video for only 100. thanks again!
-Rob
@Tyguy80s Most I've seen have frets painted on to help you know where you are, but mine just has the dots on the top of the neck. Thanks for the support!
@Sailkon glad someone pointed that out lol, I always make sure to put them up
@HomeOnASaturdayNight thanks for the support! the bass is a carlo robelli, its not the best bass in the world. But it definitely gets the job done
@nuppe10 thanks for the support!
@rthtam thanks for helping me film ruth :)

You never cease to amaze me!
@justdropem that's one benefit, and it just has a totally different tone that I love
@alvinleong2 pick it up! the bass is a lot of fun! :)
thanks for the support
How can I get this bass?
sorry :/ no tabs for this one
You've got a Claypool sound that you've made all your own. I like it, man. Jam on.
@weedseed500 well thank you :)
@pick031 I actually already have a banjo vid up :)
@flyepikskate thank you! and about a decade now
Sounds like an 80s movie intro XD
now that i think about it, it sounds more like the seinfeld intro
+ibanezman71 yeah thats what i was thinking
Why does everyone think that every slap bass line sounds like the Seinfeld Theme?
+mkfanforever58 Because that's the slap bass that most people are exposed to and it just clicks for em i guess lol.
mkfanforever58 idk, i just make the link and it also makes me think of primus a bit
Very les Claypool -esque
@okivander thanks so much :)
@AbyssTrancer haha would LOVE to own a warwick. eventually. thanks again for the support
@REVERENDJOSHGODDERS thank you! and it's a carlo robelli fretless
@IIRockstarrxX thanks for the support!
*sigh* I guess you've got another fan right here. You're too good man, wish I had had the patience to practice playing the bass when I was younger.
@tylerarei used to play them a lot lol, but I really don't enjoy posting covers so probably not
i like it how you play guitar most the time but your like claypool with a bass, dope stuff
@MetalManJads99 haha certainly love that band! thanks for the support
@7leintje93 well thanks for the support! and I'm sure you could play this with some practice!
too many ppl criticise this xbox generation. they say they don't listen to good classical music. I say a really great bass player can do all that and more. Had Mozart and Beethoven and Hyden had a fretless, just imagine what they would have done with it! You did excellant, plz keep on posting more. best regards Mr. P
@theCeilingPancake thank you!
@jtpmm777 thanks for the support! it's a carlo robelli
it sounds like primus a bit
Thank you!
Much thanks!
@SaintUdnitz bass is a beastly instrument?... maybe.... hahaha thats really funny
@direct2dan yes it is!
@nagynorbie thanks for the support!
So awesome. I love the very subtle slides you do with the chords.
CLAYPOOL JR.
@shadowhalo24 thanks for the support :)
Your grooves remind me of Primus :O
Amazing job!
Wooo!
@Aniwaskyobi it's is quite a bit different but I love it
Fretless basses sound awesome, definitely make more videos like this!
@card808909 thanks for your support!

Its fretless (or some say bellagio), man! its so hard to play this thing, you are great, know that and keep going! thanks for sharing : )))
Fetus Scallon
This should never get a dislike
I play on a very similar fretless with black nylons though, but holy CRAP you're good. :D It got stolen long ago, then 5 years later I found it on craigslist untouched and got it back!
agreed.
@Rushly123456 thanks for the support!
Extremely Primus - like. I love it!
Very Les Claypool and completely amazing. Very nice slappin' sir.
@ababc666 usually the thumb, middle, and ring finger
Good job on taking advantage of not frets with the sliding, its sounds awesome! :D
Hope to see it soon
@AmandaIleaMadden much thanks!
my name is mud! haha.
i listened to the song where you slap up the electric..
needless to say, i watched the wrong first video of you dude.
this one is awesome.
Damn man, you are amazing. You got some great talent there. It's fun to watch and great to jam to. Props on your skills. fav part is at 0:26
Again Rob, Kick Ass! You got the mojo!
NO words....... Just drool.....
You're very talented. Wow.
Wow...I'm supportin' you, dude! That was awesome.
@TheDerek189 its a carlo robeli
dude that is sick! i play bass and i wish i was that good
man, everything you do is sweet. I'm all into math rock, just starting up a band : )
You = Awesomeness
@chappythe3rd thanks! and around ten years
This reminds me a lot of Les Claypool's playing. Keep it up man!!
@klappstuhlXIV tommy the cat by primus! or just about anything by primus
Here's something neat though: if you get a multiscale fretless bass, while that's a whole 'nother beast to wrangle with, once well tuned and setup, individual notes (and perhaps even barre'd chords) aren't going to go flat or sharp on your unless you let them. :D
Oh woah. That's awesome!
you sound clean and crisp, very solid piece, ^ ^.
@dev2day all the time
that was crazy good
Nice bass slapping dude!!
freaking awesome
That was some nice work. lol It sounded like it came out of 1970's funky action film or something, which is cool. Great Job & Keep it up.
i could literally litsen to this for days
NICE! just what i wanted to see!
