I never understood why villains want to rule the world- "You can go where you want, take what you want, and don't have to pay taxes." ...have you considered starting smaller? Like an independent country? For something so simple do you need the whole world?
It seems like DC still doesn't know what go do with her in the comics honestly. Let's make her dark, let's make her embody hope, nope let's make her dark again, no Supergirl should be a symbol of hope and all that is good, nope she's a rage machine. WTF is wrong with DC sometimes? I honestly think Supergirl is on their fabled hated character list right under Wally West and Nightwing.
I say the thing to do with her is make her a Kryptonian girl who is fascinated with Earth cultures, whether American, British, African, anime or furries, and she likes to hang out with human girls as human girls (especially if they know she's Supergirl so they can cover for her) and learning to hang out with aliens (her parents were not xenophobes but her whole society was), and she's very good at saving the world stuff (she has powers and is an El) but not good with crime stuff (she's not an investigative reporter).

Right on the money there! Sadly, same thing can be said about Star Trek the (slow) Motion Picture King Solomon's Mines Baby, Secret of the Lost Legend Dennis the Menace Congo And any other movies ripped off of more popular properties scored by John Williams and Jerry gets leftovers like what happened on Supergirl.
@@OhGreat2014 I didn't mind the Dennis The Menace movie as much. I found it to be one of those movies that was dumb but enjoyable. I fee like people need more movies where it just be fun and enjoyable without trying to be extremely epic or deep, a lot of animated movies fall into that trap.

I thought the Phantom Zone was reserved for the worst criminals and most dangerous monsters in the universe. even other universes use it as a dumping ground for those they want to get rid of. heck, they even once tried to throw DoomsDay in there, only for him to escape later on. in Injustice, some character campaigns end with Superman being trapped in there forever. Zaltar banishing himself to the Phantom Zone because one colony losing power, leaving everyone on life support for several days, is pretty extreme. I mean, he'll be trapped forever with monsters that tore Doomsday inside out. he might as well be in friary pits of hell But if he insists...
Considering the state of the “DCEU”, I’m not sure what will happen with Henry Cavill’s take on Superman. But with James Gunn’s help, I have an idea for how to incorporate a “Supergirl” to be more like the wholesome country person Superman was supposed to be. PLEASE HEAR ME OUT! 😊 As “Superwoman”, she could have a similar origin to Superman, but be enough of her own person. She could have no relation to Kal-El, & grow up on a farm in Missouri (rather than Kansas). Despite being Called Kara-Zod, making her a neice to General Zod who got disowned by the family before Krypton exploded. Kara, named “Linda Danvers” on Earth, would keep a low profile & protect the Earth after the Justice League disbanded. She could make the ultimate sacrifice deeming humanity to be “worth it”, where another guy called “ALEXANDER J. LUTHER” is president of the United States. Just to be honest, it’s actually common for 2 different people to have the same name, like one hell of a coincidence. Anyway, Luther wants to let a Kryptonite ASTEROID strike Earth so that he could rule over what’s left after the impact & use his background in real estate to sell a post-apocalyptic “new world” to all the people he would rule over with an iron fist. He plans to turn the former United States into a fascist “new world order” with himself as its ruthless dictator. He could make up for Jesse Eisenberg’s pathetic take on “Lex Luthor”, even if it’s under a slightly different name for copywright issues. Luckily, Linda would fly into the asteroid & destroy it, becoming the hero humanity need after she restored their faith in humanity herself. Luther would be impeached & handed a life sentence for his crimes against humanity.
@@JakkFrost1 I’m wondering who could play her today. How would you feel about Luther being president of the United States, like in “Superman/Batman: Public Enemies”?
NC: Because fairy tales and superheroes go so well together. Me looking at the DC continuity: If that's the weirdest thing that happens, consider yourself lucky.
I feel after this movie the rest of the crew either never let him work on them due to his track record or he personally never wants to do a supergirl project again
Well that's a redemption for you, just like James Marsters voicing Zamasu in Dragonball Super after playing Lord Piccolo in the horrible Dragonball: Evolution live action movie.
They literally had a mandate that Superman had to be the last Kryptonian after Crisis that's why it took so long for her to come back and even then she wasn't exactly Kryptonian.
As a longtime fan, I just have to say that watching Doug's transformation into a cat person since getting Chaplin is possibly one of the greatest longtime arcs on this show. (And having adopted a stray, I can relate so much to it)
At least her death in the original Crisis was one of the most epic last stands of of a hero in comics. She landed several devastating hits on the toughest villain yet created at that point, until oone lucky antimatter blast took her life.
Besides that she is a campy character and I saw the television series it is also campy but it knows it's source material so they only try to show breif signs of seriousness so that's that & the arrowverse is still the best live action DC connected universe , DCEU has it's moments but yeah warner should really plan out it's stories.
My favorite part of the review was how he ignored Kara's character arc in Superman TAS to Justice League Unlimited to prove his point about how Supergirl has only been taken serious as a character recently...
Aw it's so cute when Chaplin stares creepily at Doug and runs away from him like he's a deranged homeless man screaming about a Stamps.com conspiracy and not a provider of food and warmth. Owning a cat is rewarding!
She’s come back in other Superman related shows before. She played Superman’s biological mom in Smallville and has even appeared in the current Supergirl TV series.
Maria Ximena Otalora Cordoba Kinda felt like a missed opportunity to have Helen reprise her role as this Kara in Crisis even if it has her be killed off to save Earth-38 Kara like how Earth-90 Barry sacrifice himself to save Earth-1 Barry, and Earth-1.
"You do not remember me. I am your father. You must have many questions..." Yes, like why you're doing the voice of the space dad disguise that Megamind uses.
@@jessicawurm23 i love the fact that he was doing the right actor, but the wrong role. Such niche humor, no kid and most adults are not getting that joke
Ah, the wind enemy from “The Happening.” Guess this was it’s initial debut role. Funny how I didn’t recognize it here. It seems that it took a long time for it to get a regular role in film again after playing in “Supergirl.”
When they were mentioning the succesful supergirl properties, I was honestly shocked they glossed over the Injustice 2 videogame. It’ basicly supergirl the game half the time.
I saw this in the theatre when I was nine. I remembered that I really liked it and had a great time. Had a bit of a crush on Helen Slater. I saw it again in high school and was shocked at how silly it all was. I tried to watch it like 10 years ago and got about 20 minutes in before I changed the channel.
I found the Wonder Woman movie a breath of fresh air because it helped female superhero movies being perceived in a more positive light after years of movies like Supergirl here, Catwoman and Elektra.
Maybe time travels slower in "inner space" so while she spends weeks looking for the Omegahedron, only a few seconds pass in Argo City... I mean "the beehive."

19:58 yes she dated a horse twice, and it was somehow even weirder the second time 😂🤣
Lol
Wasn’t there something about the horse being her animal sidekick (because every other superhero needed an animal sidekick for one reason or another) who could change into a human, or was that a strange dream/hallucination when I has suffering from a bad fever?
And yet I thought the epitome of weirdness for Superman was the time he got the power to summon a Mini-Superman from his hand.
And people say Bronies are weird

He's still pretty cool.
I never understood why villains want to rule the world-
"You can go where you want, take what you want, and don't have to pay taxes."

Isn't that the basics of Doctor Doom?
Well you need ambition mate, besides they are starting small, first villans want to conquer the world later the whole universe.
It's more the accomplishment than the perks, I think.
Why not start with the tristate area???
Probably because the country the tristate area is in will get annoyed. But maybe a nice island. You know, like Australia.

I mean, at least she has a well-received TV show with a lovable lead actress that currently celebrated its hundredth episode. That's a bright spot.
Not as much as how Marvel hates Thor and Nova.
It's kinda sad how true that probably is!
I really love her N52 version. The first time I read her was when they made her a Red Lantern
Oh, God! This is a terrible movie! But.... Jerry Goldsmith's music is rousing and epic to hear! It's better than the movie itself.

Star Trek the (slow) Motion Picture
King Solomon's Mines
Baby, Secret of the Lost Legend
Dennis the Menace
Congo
And any other movies ripped off of more popular properties scored by John Williams and Jerry gets leftovers like what happened on Supergirl.

Zaltar is punished by being sent to the Phantom Zone...
...Instead of the people putting him to work on building a new power source or something.
Well, he kinda sent himself to the phantom zone.
Like running in a giant hamster wheel
I thought the Phantom Zone was reserved for the worst criminals and most dangerous monsters in the universe. even other universes use it as a dumping ground for those they want to get rid of. heck, they even once tried to throw DoomsDay in there, only for him to escape later on. in Injustice, some character campaigns end with Superman being trapped in there forever. Zaltar banishing himself to the Phantom Zone because one colony losing power, leaving everyone on life support for several days, is pretty extreme. I mean, he'll be trapped forever with monsters that tore Doomsday inside out. he might as well be in friary pits of hell
But if he insists...
Nope. Here's some Binaca and one of Tom Baker's old Dr. Who jackets and you get to live forever in a damp bad place.
Must say I'm disappointed you didn't give props for the one good thing about this movie; Helen Slater looked _phenomenal_ as Supergirl!
Even as old as she is now she is still freaking hot.
Much better than what ever is supposed to be Supergirl in the flash film.
As “Superwoman”, she could have a similar origin to Superman, but be enough of her own person.
@@georgeeastwood6930 why is this a reply to my comment?

NC: Because fairy tales and superheroes go so well together.
Me looking at the DC continuity: If that's the weirdest thing that happens, consider yourself lucky.
Seriously, the amount of freaks and weirdos that must have been creatively in charge of DC is baffling.
No wonder fanons don't read comics: they're never sure what counts as "canon", which they usually obsess about.
the irony is that the director later went on to do loads of Smallville episodes, but none of the ones that had Supergirl
That's actual irony. Well done.
