Possibly one of the most underrated tunes by DP. Maybe I just had to grow up to a granddad of more than50 years lifetime to really appreciate that wonderful piece.
I've loved that tune since I first heard it way back in the early 70's I always thought it was so un Purple like. I still love it now & I'm 60.

When I was a teenager, I liked some songs more than others on this album. Today, at 37 years old, I like the ones I didn't like back then.

“Anyone’s Daughter” (1971) is million miles away from Deep Purple’s famous mind-blowing hard rock.
Bass player Roger Glover explained how it came about : “We were sitting round the studio, waiting for inspiration, and Ritchie [Blackmore] just started tinkling around with that chord thing and we joined in.”
In this song, the hero has misadventures with a farmer’s daughter and a judge’s daughter, before fortuitously marrying a rich man’s daughter.
