- Justice Sotomayor, NYU's 2012 Commencement speaker, received a Doctor of Laws degree, honoris causa, at the ceremony.
NYU's 180th Commencement Exercises were held Wednesday morning, May 16, 2012, at Yankee Stadium. President John Sexton and Board of Trustees Chairman Martin Lipton presided over the event, which presented honorary degrees to Sonia Sotomayor - Associate Justice, United States Supreme Court; David Brooks, columnist for the New York Times; Patrick Desbois, President, Yahad-In Unum; and Charles Weissmann, Professor and Chairman, Department of Infectology, The Scripps Research Institute.
Justice Sotomayor is among the strongest commencement speakers of all time! This was a strong speech!
This is incredibly inspiring speech. I love her from my sincere heart. She is a true Justice...
This was inspiring; from the love letter she opens with to proclaim her love for New York, to her ending encouragement in "incessant optimism"... wow I'm just in awe of all the "emotions" I now have.
excellent analysis
It is incredible how much this speech relates to The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. Esperanza learns the same thing throughout the book, an overcomes many obstacles through her big dreams and, eventually, desire to help others.
I love you. Unfortunately, I'm stuck attending this joke of a school next year. Can't wait to transfer out.
I'm reading her memoir and found this video. God she makes more sense in her writings, definitely. I am shocked.
There's so many fuckin people. I've seen baseball games with less people.
whyd you apply to a "joke of a school" in the first place?
It was a safety.
At first glance I thought she looked like Yolanda Saldívar.
shouldn't go into anything with a negative attitude
Supreme Court...This lady can't talk. What the heck was that at 13:33 lol
Nice, out of a 15-minute speech you found one mistake, good job.
