If this was only you vs the dealer and the 7 was drawn you would lose. There is no 'old vs new strategy'. Every possible way to win as much as possible is already calculated and it says to hit the 15 to lose as less as money possible. When you make these 'new strategy bets' you can ofcourse win because of luck. I can hit a 19 and get an ace and have a 20 and call this a 'new strategy' but it doesn't work that way.
