This clash remind me of my school days when I first heard it on tape cassette! Young lion did try them best on there home turf,but we're not in saxons league! Didn't even turn up for part 2 in saxons territory cause they knew that they would of got humiliated. Respect to both sounds! It was an entertaining dance for sure!
I was there at that dance at multicultural centre in High Wycombe ..what some people didnt know was Saxon had a double booking that night so Tippa, Levi & Cornell didnt reach till the last hours of the Dance. as they were preforming in London. so they put Dusty & Rusty to hold the fort before Big Djs reach! Btw Young Lion were one of the top 5 Sounds in the country at that time Bunny Reds was the son of the founder of Sir Coxsone ..Big Sound and they had dubs Plates to match most Sounds at that time!.. just before Unity & Volcano UK peaked as that was the next period in sound systems & Unity who didnt mix down just let Demon & badman just ride riddem as Ribbs was old school but they smashed it with their unique style ...Than came the midlands sounds who changed the game V Rocket & NOW GENERATION SOUND which set the new standards.. they had Mic men ..but the also decided the new lick was to get specials ie Dub plates on a mass just for classes with top Jamdown Djs & singers for the Clash and this was the next level and they were on top as the London Djs became obsolete ...Then came Dum & Bass...lol
