It's both. animal migration is a huge factor in the nutrients in our soil. And when you cull & kill off important species ( including in the ocean) that there's big issues. Human Induced climate change is real & the Fossil Fuel Company, Their Paid "Scientists " & other companies knew from the beginning what the effects we're gonna be this. Especially as technology advanced. The rich around the 🌎 wants total global corporate fascism & slavery. It's rich against poor & always has been. Greed, power & control of everything & everyone is all they care about & uses half truths, straight-up lies, & everything under the sun to keep us divided & not come after them.

Sounds like Levy county needs a new county commissioner and more educated management. I pray this is the spark that ignites a huge change in ag in Florida!

My city gives free unlimited compost. It’s made from the leaves and tree branches they pick up that residents pile up on the side of the road. It’s not much if at all a very small percentage of food waste but I still get some every month as I’m building my first garden and my own open air compost pile.
I especially like the straight wood mulch to use for mulching my trees. The leaf piles aren’t really broken down much which sucks but it’s still proving my will a lot of material to put into my own garden and compost.

Was researching opening a compost business a few years back, my town health department prevented it for nearly identical reasons being alluded to in this video. The reasoning of not allowing a commercial compost operation to operate on agricultural land is that most commercial operations bring in material that can be questionable regarding biosecurity. The restriction is an attempt to avoid crop contamination. If the compost comes from a farm and is only used on the farm there isn't (hypothetically) material coming in and no biosecurity risk.
Any properly operated compost business does not present a risk of crop contamination and their customers would be some of the first to find out if there was. . . I think this is yet another example of the "experts" and lawyers colluding with larger businesses to prevent / eliminate competition. This behavior is out of control in agriculture and needs to be curtailed. Luckily, Texas recently passed an "upgraded" Right to Farm Act and Texas Constitutional changes to reflect. We are all crossing our fingers that Texas A&M produces a manual on "commonly accepted practices" that is consistent with all of their other produced material. The specifics will no doubt be fleshed out in court and everyone is hoping their number doesn't come up.
If someone out there needs a subject to study for their thesis or dissertation this would be a good one. The health department type folks are concerned about biosecurity, but I'm not sure it has ever been established beyond hypothesis and speculation.

Also, many folks don't know how to compost or don't have the means.
Finally, why cave to the bullies? I've toured this facility. It is a top notch, clean operation and smells like sweet earth. There's no valid reason to shut it down and rob people of this vital resource.

Judging from his statements he is starting to have issues because he is going commercial. Health departments don't like commercial compost operations operating on farms for the possibility of crop contamination when they bring in outside material (animal wastes, food residue, etc..). They don't have any issue with compost produced on farms from their own material because there is "less" biosecurity risk. No doubt his competitor is also pushing the County.
