Anita was way far BETTER than any voice in the Carter Sisters...She was also a beautiful woman by any standard. So very GREAT a talent....sad ending, but at least we have this to remember her.
Anita, what a talent that never got the recognition she deserved while she was alive, like many artists. We appreciate you now Anita and your beautiful voice.
My favorite Anita song is > A Tear Fell > which is sung in a 50s style tinklin piano waltz. It tells a story of lost love . She sees her old love dancing in the arms of a new love as she sheds a tear on the dance floor . I think of my first girl friend in high school when I hear this song . So sad .
Wonderfully pure, angelic, voice, that could charm the birds out of the trees. Anita Carter, 'the Appalachian Angel', is in my opinion the finest female vocalist you will ever hear in the country or folk music genre.
Purest...Gentlest...Simply The Greatest Country Girl Singer Ever...Ever...Ever. Nobody comes close. Anita always had it and always will. Bet she's the lead singer in God's Golden Counrtry Choir.
I miss you Anita....you passed away on my birthday...July 29th.. I thank you for leaving behind your beautiful voice to always hear.....I will keep your memory alive.
+Frank Panzer Jr. you said it Frank ! this music they have today I don't call music ! also all you see is singers jumping around on stage and hollering ! another good singer is Emmylou Harris !
I love Kris, but I can't quite escape the feeling that whenever he wrote and recorded a knockout song, someone else would come along and make a version that was better than his. I just love Anita's interpretation. I can't stop playing it.
no way bro. Kris did it WAY WAY better. He was the total package, great writer, amazing singer, and great actor as well! Anitas version is really grating on the ears and too sharp. the song was not meant for that kind of sound, it was meant to be sung with a slower, lower, and smoother voice.
@@orion7741 There is no world in which anyone genuinely believes Kris Kristofferson had a "smoother" or less "grating" voice than Anita Carter's. I will say that this song works better slower and lower, which is how Anita performed it live and to great effect.
Always loved this song and wanted to hear the right female sing it. Anita is that lady singer. Hadn't heard her much but I'm listening to her now, what a voice!!
She sang as a professional for 60 years. Hard to believe, but it's true. Anita and her sisters belong in the Country Music Hall of Fame and in all the other music halls of fame.

2021 and listening to the most beautiful voice of all times. Lovely Anita Carter your beauty is mesmerizing never got to see her she was before my time but I'm so glad to find her .
It was a pure stroke of genius when This angelic singer was matched up with Hank Snow and they created some wonderful duets together, Hanks grit balanced beautifully with Anitas soaring tones
This is an awesome version of my very favorite song of my 77 years. Always preferred Tompall and Glaser Bros. Version but this is terrific. This lady had an awesome voice.
Anita and Waylon. The do justice to this song. Her voice always stood out when they did background vocals For Johnny Cash. I don't think she got the recognition she deserved. I grew up with the sounds of the Carter family in my house. I have been lucky to have grown up and experienced so many great artists and the music they made. It is a shame to see music devolve over the decades into the garbage it is now.
“LOVING HER WAS EASIER” I have seen the morning burning golden on the mountain in the skies Aching with the feeling of the freedom of an eagle when she flies Turning on the world, the way she smiled upon my soul as I lay dying Healing as the colors in the sunshine and the shadows of her eyes Waking in the morning to the feeling of her fingers on my skin Wiping out the traces of the people and the places that I"ve been Teaching me that yesterday was something that I never thought of trying Talking of tomorrow and the money, love and time we had to spend Loving her was easier than anything I'll ever do again Coming close together With a feeling that I'd never known before in my time She ain't ashamed to be a woman or afraid to be a friend I don't know the answer to the easy way she opened every door in my mind But dreaming was as easy as believing it was never gonna end Loving her was easier than anything I'll ever do again. 👍🏻🎸✌🏻
I don't know which version is better this one the studio version or the live version on the Johnny Cash show with Carl Perkins picking away at that guitar.
there has never been and never will be a purer female country music singer than Anita -- not even close --- not even Emmylou -- you would have to cross genres to get to Joan Baez

What a beautiful photograph of Anita!
America was once capable of creating achingly beautiful music.
She still is singing in the heavenly choir!
If Anita was alive today no female country singer could touch her

"way far BETTER than 'the other' Carter Sisters? Certainly better than June but June understood showbiz and enjoyed it.
Best song Kristofferson ever wrote.
And sung
Beautiful woman and she sings beatifully too.
She puts most modern day country singer singers to shame !
Today's country singers both M@F are not in the same league as yesteryear country singers .That's not a good thing
Johnny said something in his book like she was the most under-rated female country singer of all time. Agreed.
@James Sero Oh there's a car in the photo???? lol
Johnny (allegedly ) had an affair with her.
I agree. The most beautiful voice then and still now after after 20 some years she has been gone.

I have seen the morning burning golden on the mountain in the skies
Aching with the feeling of the freedom of an eagle when she flies
Turning on the world, the way she smiled upon my soul as I lay dying
Healing as the colors in the sunshine and the shadows of her eyes
Waking in the morning to the feeling of her fingers on my skin
Wiping out the traces of the people and the places that I"ve been
Teaching me that yesterday was something that I never thought of trying
Talking of tomorrow and the money, love and time we had to spend
Loving her was easier than anything I'll ever do again
Coming close together
With a feeling that I'd never known before in my time
She ain't ashamed to be a woman or afraid to be a friend
I don't know the answer to the easy way she opened every door in my mind
But dreaming was as easy as believing it was never gonna end
