So many memories of when the deck was first coming out and we had to wait in anticipation of when we were getting it and do the shipping calculators, getting excited when someone got theirs. Can't believe it's been 2 years already!

Now it has turned into an all out political war.. windows vs linux handhelds lol.. I think valve has achieved their goal which was not to have the most powerful, dominating handheld but to win over console people like me who have now spent hundreds of dollars on steam games over the past 18 months. I think the debate of which device is superior is getting rediculous because let's face it the deck is over 2 years old and the technology isn't as powerful as the newer devices. Even if we dont keep our steam decks we are still spending money on steam!

Man I found your channel looking for info for steam deck before it came out. I was a light Xbox gamer but was so interested in pc gaming. You helped me thru so much being a new steam user let alone just on Linux. Desktop mode help dock reviews putting game pass on deck. I’ll never forget learning steam and pc and you were a huge part of that. I don’t use my deck super often anymore but it was an amazing into into pc gaming. Haven’t watched you in forever but I am watching now and you still seem like the same honest dude. Thank you for the help and thank you for the honest reviews!

Pretty much using mine for Indie games. But even the recent non-AAA games like Palworld and No Rest For The Wicked are getting harder to get a consistent 40 fps on the Steam Deck. Hopefully, we will get a Steam Deck 2 announcement later this year.
Yes, it is still worth it. It becomes my all-in-one emulation station.
About a year and a half on mine and it gets used at LEAST once a day because I play about an hour of emulated games in bed. Yes I do play several newer PC games but it mostly gets used for emulation. Hands down the easiest and most reliable emulation machine.
A lot of people don't realize that Proton actually has better games compatibility than Windows 11. There are so many games that were designed for windows 7, 8, or 10 that just crash to desktop in Windows 11 (such as Bayonetta) but run flawlessly in Linux under Proton. Proton really is a killer app.

@@core2julen728 Yes I own the LCD version, I heard about the Oled having problems with drivers and I hope that gets solved. 🙏
@core2julen728 i guess better to keep with lcd vr and keep your money there's notva huge different plus the oled vr had screen problems similar to switch oled because they used HDR oled similar to the olde galaxy phones in 2013 not super oled

This is what i do, indie games and ps3/360 era games.
How much time do you spend on the OS lol. Linux or windows you only load up the os to fire the game up, you don't necessarily spend time browsing through it. I don't really see that huge of a difference except I agree that windows os do take up 4gb of ram on the get go so 16gb is not really enough.
The masses want a steam deck 2 that they can connect a quest headset to, and be able to download VR games to play off of it. SDVR. Thats what the masses want… It would make VR even more portable.
I beat 65 games in 2024 so far vs 30 games in the entirety of 2023. I love this thing

just saw this, I bought it on ps5 after a free week of the Base game. Then I got it on steam so i could play it at my country home. Still have not finished all the dlc, and now the Base game is free...NuTS!
Ih and ratchet and clank ps5, 50 euro, two weeks later free on psn 😅 (havent started playing yet)
SD really is a game changer. Still love mine. I really enjoy all the customizations and the struggle of trying to make things work.
I had my steam deck used had 512gb 349$ this device made gaming phones looks like weak and you can used steam as pc 🖥
Would you suggest not worrying about the memory it comes from and just get a decent sized sd card?
@@stored1453 Depends on the person and if you want to save on money then absolutely that’s an option. I have 1TB SD card on mine. So many vids out there as well that guide people to upgrade the internal storage as well.

If a new steam deck gets announced, it won't be much more powerful because valve stated that they want the battery to last longer. A more powerful device would kill the battery too fast. So until battery technology gets better, there won't be a steam deck that it's much more powerful.

It works pretty good on it. Elden Ring has been one of the most played games on the Steam Deck

Good thing new games are garbage and I'm not remotely interested in playing those. The last new game I played was Zelda tears of the kingdom.
Facts steam deck lcd stronger than oled because the lcd screen can taking longer years without out the ghosts icon or oled liquid
Not worth it. Can't play decent ps3, xbox 360, tweak too much to play X Deviant. Can't play GamePass. Too weak to connect to a TV. Had the Oled. Nice screen. Had the Ally too.much crashing, no battery. I have a Legion Go....what a Beauty, easiest to set up, nice screen, good battery and performance.
