Looks like you had to tear half the engine bay apart to get all of that done. Man. I guess all the flunkies from engineering school were hired by GM. Anyway, the old radiator was in really sad shape, clogged like that, there's no way that could dissipate heat well enough. Not to mention, the old water pump versus the new one, the old one just looked shot compared to the new one. Looks like that cooling system was neglected since it was on the road. The radiator fans are expensive for whatever reason. Sometimes you can buy just the motor, if you ever need it. Otherwise, one out of a junkyard would probably be fine.
Do you know what the main problem was got a uplander now thats pretty much over heating but it heats up cools down sometimes over heats and drops heat fast pretty much up and down
I've had thermostat and water pump both replaced last year. Today on a 4 hour road trip, 2 hours in, noticed the gauge would bounce between half(normal) and 5/8 mark (slightly warmer than normal but not over heating) Would this be caused by an older radiator?
@@lexmarks567 thanks for your reply! A mechanic that lives on my street gave me a great tip. You throw it in drive and the engine shifts forward. Then you can put the e brake on and mount it up 😄
how is the chevy uplander doing after the cooling system overhaul???

replace your thermostat and radiator cap, then check your dexcool concentration....
Where did you purchase the recovery tank?
eBay.
@@lexmarks567 Thanx.
Didn’t see how you shifted the engine back forward...
Take a rachet strap and attach one end to the engine eyelet then the other to the frame etc and crank till it lines up with the mounts.

Park brake, chock the wheels. Neutral then you and remove the bolts and ratch strap it back.
