    It's nice to have a 3d printer but not everyone got one that includes me

    Nice overview. Try, try, try. That’s the battle cry of innovation. Thanks for showing us the way.

    If you want to make sure your model railway buildings aren't like anyone else's...this is the ticket. I have a friend who laser cuts, spin casts and 3D prints. He models American Civil War era, and if he needs parts or structures he draws them up and knocks them out. With time and practice, this machine could pay for itself if you're into marketing your products.

    Valances - light bulb moment. Do Victorian cast iron railings. Polybak/Laserboard cuts better, so they say. It is resin impregnated Kraft card in 0.3 to 0.9mm thicknesses. Will Mod podge soaked Kraft paper be as stiff and cut the same?
    Acrylic resin/paints should cut without much smoke.

    Amazing, things have come on since I last put track to board. 3D printers, laser cutters fantastic tools. Bit ahead of where I am at present but good to know. Great review thank you.

    Interesting to see what you're doing though I much prefer watching your model railway endeavours. For the amount of modelling I have done/will do in my lifetime I'm quite content either building commercial kits or scratchbuilding especially given the minimalist layout approach 😊

    The thought of what can be made love it, but the thing not explained do you need a degree in graphic design to create the item which is going to be made on the lazer.

      A basic knowledge of cad is always useful however designing 2d shapes for the laser cutter is much easier than complex 3D models for 3D printers. In terms of images you can upload photos such as our BMR logo into the lightburn software and it will automatically engrave and cut the image.

    So, I just need to spare 700/800 € by now. That's a tool I need ! There is even a Linux software for it, good !

    It's interesting to see what this can do. How difficult ult is it to program after all we are not all blessed with a son who can write a program for us, lol😂

      We used LightBurn software which is paid software unfortunately but it's incredibly easy to design things on it as it's all 2D just drawing rectangles and lines. The Laser cutter comes with a great information sheet outlining what power and speed to use for each material. There are also loads of other free software programs although we haven't tried these out.

    did you cut any 2mm grey board with it?

      Cardboard yes, not sure what grey board is?

    • @ianlockwood7842
      @ianlockwood7842 Год назад +1

      @@BudgetModelRailways Thanks its the thick grey card that scalescenes recommend. I think that this would help with cutting parts more accurately although sorting the files out first will take time.

      @BudgetModelRailways  Год назад

      @@ianlockwood7842 yes it will cut it. Accuracy not an issue with any material we tried. It won't print white card
