- Happy Halloween! Count John Rain-ula and Dr. John Thomson-stein gather to give their thoughts on the horror-mystery, The Medusa Touch.
I always enjoy listening to these talk together about films they love; less for laughs and more about appreciation for the craft. It makes for an interesting edit.
Also I wonder what Professor Denzil Dexter would make of Telekinesis...
This was a new film for me and I don't understand why it isn't as well known as Carrie and Omen. If it's new for you then sit back and enjoy this spooky tale and of course check out the film after (it's free on YT)

Thanks again for the support and comments as always :)
Siskel and ebert a couple of 🔔-ends. Amazingly enjoyable run through one of Burtons more vilified efforts
I never knew Smersh Pod did anything other than poke fun at films. This was a nice dive into a film I'd never even heard of. Perfect for Halloween. 🎃
Not the sort of film I'd usually be interested in, but with you editing a SmershPod commentary, it's an easy watch.
My favourite part, oddly enough, is the cartoonish sound effects you added to the statue smashing. So simple, yet so much fun.
I actually watched this film before listening to original upload, Underrated movie, Burton is brilliant in this, BTW the use of David Jason As Frost is Hilarious
You know it's kismet when you watched this movie literally last week. We're aligned.
Bruh your edits are fantastic. BanyaBat is my first love, but you're right up there already. Thank you!
The sound effects are brilliant.
Glad you did this one! I'd never heard of the film but the episode had me intrigued, now I'm into late 70s horror.
Fun fact: When I was at university I put a rock band together, I found our bassist by looking at the classified on the various corkboards around the radio station. His ad said "call Toddits" (real name Tod).
It also said "Influences: Sonic Youth, Nana Mouskouri" but that seems less relevant.
The Big Lebowski bit got me laughing out loud like a madman. Brilliant.
god I cackled at the Spectrum loading bit here 😅
Richard Burton treats objects like women.
Richard Burton draws a lot of water in this town. You don't draw shit Lebowski.
I love Lino Ventura in anything
John Thomson?
Nice.
Great! Nick Nack No Yeesss
Brilliant thank you
Top effort getting the game sounds - although can only vouch for Manic Miner & Chuckie Egg! Will be re-listening to the pod tonight with a new appreciation. Keep 'em going!
Dizzy Adventures (also an egg), School Dayz and Ghostbusters 2 (when it didn't crash right at the end of loading). On spectrum, you had to choose what game to play wisely, as it took 20-30mins to load, and then fingers crossed it didnt crash on boot. Upgraded to Amiga then PC after...nostalgia.
Yay! Where’s Dan Thomas and his Chis Walkman impressions? Get him on every pod
The Medusa Touch....is also a type of Greek weed... It gets you stoned!
13:17 Thank you, Toddits! I had completely forgotten about this commercial where children were going to disembowel a beloved character from my childhood.
YES A FUCKING TODDITS EDIT THANK YOU !!
Great work on the editing as always
Ah yes David Jason from the hit “A Touch of France”
i love these
Toddits upload lets goooo
Thanks man.
Do you remember being in this movie, Mr. Burton?
No, I was drunk as a skunk and buying jewellery for THAT woman lol
Good-o, another Toddits.
I liked this film, even if Dilbert didn't.
My dog lost it during the squeak edit of the statue murder 😂
Roger Ebert is a hack, I’ve no idea why he’s considered a great movie critic. He frequently misunderstands, misinterprets or is just unable to follow a film and his reviews mainly seem to rely on whether he’s in a good mood or not that day. That’s fine for the casual viewer but a critic should have a deep knowledge and understanding of the topic they critique. Otherwise why on earth should you listen to anything they say
Me too, not like that. The transfixed bit.
