- Big days in the saddle and adventure is what summer is all about right?! This year Neil's big summer rides have been a lot closer to home. But that doesn't mean he had to ride boring trails. He spent lockdown planning rides using Komoot and is now able to let the Garmin show him the way so that he can worry about the riding and just smash some exciting trail riding that's local to him 🤘
In association with Garmin.

@@youngchild9294 so babyish
I’m going to the Forest of dean
Those trails were pretty gnarly 🤟🔥
Yes I live in Germany and in the holidays me and my dad are going to ride to England if the pandemic doesn't stop us.
'Pretty technical for an XC bike' as he does a live commentary about 3 times faster than I could do on an DH bike. Legend!
Lol I know right. He’s an ex pro downhill racer
Shout out to the camera guy in these long rides.
I will let Nick know, although he was on an ebike 😬 Still hard work to be fair with a camera bag
Neil Donoghue whats the best way to get noticed by a company?
EEEEB IT!!!
I loved it - looked like a perfect day. I think the thing I liked the most about riding in the UK was the access. You aren't limited to driving to a trail center for a day ride, but can easily explore a whole region by bike via bridlepaths, singletrack, and farm roads. I'm quite sure that's why Komoot hasn't taken off here in the US as well as in Europe.
Yeah I wish I could do something like this. Unfortunately most of it would have to be paved roads.
Felt like I was watching a garmin infomercial
Keith Cadima you basically were.
Exactly wonder people are so dumb supporting such channels when they are just promoting complex things which will eventually hinder "pleasure of riding"
@@ThatWanderingNomad Ok old man
Went riding at my local jumps today. Wet weather, foot slipped, pin came out of the pedal and got stuck in my shin. Pulled it out with tweasers. #surgeon
Done pretty much that exact same thing, but my shin exploded instead of sticking with the pin. Completely fractured
Happened to me twice lately. Now, I wear shin pads on rougher rides and jump trails.
@@gruensein yeah thats smart, might need to start doing that too
@@gruensein wow that's such an obvious fix 🤯 thank you!

The return of the drones! yay!
Great ride on fabulous trails. I moved away from there 20 years ago and you’ve just made me really homesick! Brilliant job and a cool computer too
this video was so inspirational i woke up early in the morning, watched the new gmbn video and it inspired me to get straight back out on to the trail neil your genuinely amazing 🔥
Really love the drone panning shots and the slowmo! Keep up the awesome content! 😁🤙
good riding Neil..You look like you are on an adventure every time you ride..Thanks dude
Loving that when all the other channels did a generic first look you went all out and gave us a fantastic narrative and interesting video!
Love these xc videos. I've decided after many many off's attempting to take my Kona hardtail on techy downhills I'm changing the tyres and looking at more xc rides.
That's an awesome one - thank you so much Neil, and the team, of course! you guys rock 🚀🚀🚀
I found a few guys from my childhood that also rides mtb. we meetup once a week to explore trails we havent tried before. the good once will be revisitet. using diffent apps to locate the trails. greate fun. and gives a new perspective to my local trail. great vid boys!
It's not always about the distance. Sometimes discovering what's on your doorstep can be rewarding
Always keen for big rides
I keep expanding my rides finding new trails and routes which is much easier now that I have a garmin 530
Awesome video Neil and GMBN 👍
Love this channel, keep up the great work guys
Thanks Salvador!🤘🙌
Lovely to see my spiritual home in glorious colour. Hope you enjoyed the variety those realitively small set of hills, miss them everyday, looking forward to spending time back there soon.
Stunning Scenery!
Very enjoyable video. Liked the relaxed tone, beautiful scenery and info on Garmin 1030 Plus as have been thinking about a cycling computer. Well done! Thank you.
Amazing content, thank you gmbn.
This has came just in time. About to tackle the Trans Pennine Trail, 165miles and 3800ft of climbing over 2 days 💪
How did the ride go? Did you ride east to west or vice versa
@@paulkemp8784 im riding west to east, stopping in the peak district over night. Should be fun 😅
5:14 this pov view exactly describes why everyone loves mountain biking ... Btw love the gmbn vids and Neil you are my fav man...also when is the next gmbn representer challenge vid coming !!
I prefer it without the electronic.
Great journey, love the longest day and rides you do Neil
7th ride ever on my Nomad & clocked up a 28 miler, 3808 ft in elevation @ Castleton on Sunday. Love an epic ride but it's killing me!
What a madlad, respect!
Love these epic ride videos!
great vid. looked like some cracking trails there
The drone shots are amazing
Live the vid Neil! I try to do one of these rides each weekend, if I can. Always solo. Enjoy your time on 2 wheels and tell GMBN to send you to SoCal!
Lots of fun and inspiring! Especially the large fish & chips!!
I use that' back to start ' option often.Great for if your lost or hit the wall, and can unearth some great trails sometimes.
Those tanwall barzos man... I think im in love
Heading out tomorrow morning for an epic planned ride round The High Peaks. Lots of climbing. Lots of gnarly descents. A few escape routes planned in just in case. Should be a good 6 hours in the saddle.....smiling.....unless the weather forecast changes then it might be a shorter ride, but I’ll still be smiling! 🤙🏻
Ridden the Quantocks once about 3 years ago, in the rain. Still recognised some of those trails tho...some classic routes, but always very sawtooth ride profile.
Currently doing long distance rides to peaks around Shropshire
Good video Neil !
Neil, I always take my pre ride wee right behind that gate hahaha :-)
So that's why the nature was especially blooming there!
I wondered what the smell was
Big up Donny for visiting the Quantocks - I recognised many of the paths and trails there
Looks sick i sure will be going there🤟🤙
I have watched this channel literally every day in lockdown
That's funny I used to watch the whole bike network daily but today is the first day I have come back to this channel since the event we shall not name shut everything down. Sounds like it's time for a ride.
Me too, the best!
Thanks for the support 👍
Know those hills well, and they’re so overlooked as a riding location, they have a huge variety of trails - fire roads, single tracks, technical and smooth, a downhill area and even some massive gap jumps through the woods. You can easily ride all day there.
Good choice for some big rides 👍
I love your videos GMBN
Great ride Neil I'm waiting for North Wales to open so I can do my Tour of Snowdon bit of trails, tarmac, gravel , slate 65miles 🤟😉
Nice! It may sound silly but it is very heartening to see a video that looks and feels "pre-crisis".
Love a bit of Quantocks riding. Hoping to get back down there this summer (pandemic notwithstanding...)
beautiful trail system
Garmin is pushing all the channels to promote their new device. Anyway still GMBN my MTB content lighthouse and Neil has always his human humility approach I always find myself in. Yep I am not a champ, but have so much fun in shredding the trails the way I can the way I want and this is what Neil inspires us. Thumbs up for the footage and the backstage guy that captured the motion, he had also to ride on top 😁
Looks like a nice part of the world.
The production on GMBN vids is very very good. Nice Garmin product too.
Thanks 🙌
Looks like a blast! 🚵♂️🦘👌
Totally!
It's quite a strange feeling when such a huge global channel ends up on your doorstep checking out the local trails! You done well getting shots with no one else in them - quantocks can get very crowded these days!
im brand new to mtb u have helped me thank you
Keep shredding! One day you'll become the best if you stay motivated that is. Don't ever give up lad
Was looking forward to a legendary ride video with Neil. What I got was a 10 minute Garmin 1030 plus advert. Come on guys, whilst I realise you rely on your sponsors (probably right now more than ever), you're way better than this.
I take that onboard. We do want to show off our partners brand now and then in an authentic way, it was a legendary ride for me at least 😂 Best day out I’ve had in ages.
Nice video and ride
Neil..you said it..LARGE fish n chips dude..YUM!!! that was a good ride..plenty of distance on that ride. Not everything has to be super EPIC... Beautiful scenery too..
Big rides are fun every so often. Great sometimes just going out and see where you end up with no real plan.
Entered the Whaka100 in Rotorua in spring so need to do some long rides in lead up over winter.
Love your videos
Nice one Neil, as an older rider looking to bike pack the ridgeway. This just adds to the inspiration.
Derek as an older rider myself do you have all the Garmin stuff ? I feel like I need it but am intimidated by getting into it
@@triathleteuk I haven't taken the plunge mainly because satnav's seem to be hit and miss and I can't think these can be a lot better especially when you are in the middle of nowhere without any sort of signal.
Ha this just came up in my feed ...spooky im just getting ready for a nice 44km ride through my local mountains
Did a week of bikepacking on a mtb with a creditcard and a tent, (in and out of the forest to supply where i could for 2 days at a time). Kind of learned to jump even!
Thank you for the inspiration GMBN! Best vacation i've had in years!
That looked like a great day out, nice looking computer too.
I do 40 km rides every 2 days
Nice where
Weird flex but ok
As a messenger biker i rode my bike minimum 50km a day
jep nothing special
Also with 1500m climbing? The accending is the real killer
Tried to see how far I could go on my Dh bike, reached the first hill and turned around and went home.
Xc bike
Brave!! DH bikes are hard to do any distance on .
My favourite kind of riding.
My average ride XC is around 45km, when i go big or far usually the amount is around 70-100km! Really Nice sight seeing.
Great vid. I've got my own big ride planned for tomorrow. 72k, furthest I have ever done. I'm using my Garmin Fenix 5 and Komoot to guide the way.
You can do it!
Have fun! SEND ITTT
Planning SDW Double so 200miles, on my Cube Stereo 150 C:68 TM done 120miles on SDW a few weeks ago.
Glad I'm not the only one who checks calories burned after a ride to justify a large portion of chips for tea :) Looked like a cracking day out
Beautiful scenery...cool Canyon! How maby inches travel front and rear.
This lux is made for rides like this :)
I recently followed one you routes on kamoot with my brother, it tested my fitness beyond my limits and my legs were toast but I completed the ride and it was epic. If you would like company the next ride you do in the Southwest area please ask as I would love to ride with you as I think it would greatly improve myself on my bike and you guys are always saying to follow someone faster than you so you can improve I am just getting back into mountain biking again and love being out.
Need to visit the Quantock Hills again , not been there for years
I made this comment for the video martyn did about things going wrong on a ride but its 4 days old now so not many people are watching so I'll put it here🙂
Picture this: you are going on a big adventure, in the middle of nowhere, with your friends showing you around, because you have never been! Until it all goes wrong...
You fly down the black run, having all sorts of fun! 🥳
You've got a clean bum, until the rain starts to come ☔
It ruins the jump you're about to shred, and you then end up with a very sore head🤕
There's no air in your tire, it's getting quite dire☹️
You've forgotten your tube and your friends shout "you're a tube!"😩
Your friends look quite bored, and they shout "all aboard!"😲
They hop on the their bikes, wish you a good night, and you're left on your own, just you and your bike😫
You're finally ready, you shout "let's get shreddy!" 🤟
But there's a crack in your frame! Oh this is just lame🙄
Your stuck in the forest, with less clue than Boris 🧐
Bikes are NOT great, you shout, full of hate😠
You phone for a lift, feeling quite miffed😤
You get a new frame, one just the same🙂
Your bike's good as new, in good looking blue🔵
So please don't pout, the sun is out!🌞
You go for a spin, this time it's a win 💯
You exclaim "alright! Not a problem in sight!" 👌
No longer are you filled with hate, because really, bikes ARE great😊
These are the type of rides I want to do more of just going out long days exploring
This was so cool to watch. :) Makes me want to go out and ride. But my front wheel is crooked and I have to work. Is there anywhere I can see the specs on Niels XC bike? :)
Canon Lux. The king of XC bike !
Looks a great ride with great scenery .With the gps maybe you could do a batten type ride, you ride for day, pass it to one of the other presenters who uses it for a day and onwards to the next till it eventually goes flat.
Just did 19 miles of single track with a lot of incline yesterday. Did it in about 2 hours, it kicked my ass lol
The best job in the world. Can I work for you ? hehehe... Anyway, Great video! 🤙
I wish I have access to trails like these!
Heaven
Thank God for the garmin otherwise you might have got lost and had a real adventure...
Too many gizmos lads...
All the best 💚
Can you upload the route you took. I am very close to the quantocks and it would be great to give it a go!!!
I like Komoot! Huzzah for fish 'n chips. I rode some similar trails in the new forest last year, want to do more. I have a road/maybe gravel bike though with 28mm tyres, works well enough, reckon it could handle such a trail? 🤔
Is that Canyon a hard tail mtb. Excellent riding if it is. 👏👏👏👏👏👍
Hey Neil
Nice video
Where can I see the setup of your bike?
Cheers mate
Some sexy drone footage
nice drones pics! PLEASE!! MAKE 4K CONTENT!! 1080 is 2000s, we are in 2020, Cmon guys! Thumbs up!!
great video, thanks. How many crew do you have to make that video? It's not just you is it?
He had 'fatty' with him judging by the garmin message😁
That looked epic where would I find that place?
I like the bike, like, I REALLY like the bike. And That's the sort of rides I go on... Just slower, of course.
Is there a date scheduled for the first EWS right now?
What bag are you using? It looks very good and I would love to get one.
The only backpack worth considering are ... the mighty ... Osprey! Raptor 14 for the win!!
TRISCOMBE BABY!!
Neil, great vid, what XC bike u using? I see its a Canyon but can't make out the model
It's a Canyon LUX CF SL
Any idea on best tyre size choice for long days? I’m on 2’6 but they’re sluggish on pavement
thanks for the 11 min garmin ad
trying to decide whether to buy a trail bike or XC bike, a roadie new to MTB. Could i ride longer days in the saddle on a short travel trail bike (marin hawk hill 3 to be precise)?
Is the 1030+ really any good for navigation and route changes off road? Garmin’s are very road-friendly.
I would love to visit the UK, travel restrictions will be higher than ever now...
I wish I could visit UK too! I love the humid weather most of the time.
I went for a 12km bike ride/ run for him and I’m eleven and that’s my biggest one yet
