Had an ‘11 Suburban LT Luxury package. Overall great vehicle I had for 160k. Traded in as I needed an HD truck. Here are some things to keep an eye on. 1- Throttle Position Sensor/gas pedal sensor. Had mine go out twice when it got extremely cold (teens). Easy 10min fix. 2- roof rack leak. Mine leaked at the bolt hole on passenger rear. 3- glass release button - the rubber cover broke apart. To fix is a pain! 4- power fold mirrors stopped working. Plastic gears just stripped away. Heated mirrors stopped working. 5- glitchy Bose amplifiers. Randomly would cut out for a second and come back. Of course always in the middle of a good song. 6- rear defroster tab detached from rear window grid. 7- my dash cracked as well, but on top of the instrument cluster. I replaced the entire dash cover. Small stuff considering. Do the maintenance and use quality oils and it’ll last. I also deactived the AFM stuff (tune) to help reduce the know issues with. Good luck and good find.
Looks like you found the right one at the right time. This is an awesome vehicle and very hard to find in such great condition. Can't wait to see it being "toad" behind that new Foretravel with the 10,000 tow capacity! That is what you're looking for, right? lol
How do you find these unicorns??? Great vehicle! You need to start your prayers for a diesel pusher! I read too much on IRV2…and my pockets aren’t deep enough for a diesel and it’s maintenance…but it will be fun watching you guys! I am learning to be a mechanic with our 04 Fleetwood Southwind 32VS gasser.Looking forward to your search.
Glad I was sitting down for this. Totally surprised by this. So is the Mustang still going to be around for a bit?? Also I’m getting the feeling that something is up with a new RV down the road. Enjoy Nelly for however long you still have her….???
Wait…. It’s not April Fools’ Day. So…. I guessing possible new Class A as you did not seem too excited about Super C’s after you test drove a few. Possibly something from the NIRVC event???
This info might be a little too late but you CAN flat tow a Toyota. We flat tow our 2017 Toyota Truck. You have to get a Drive Shaft Disconnect made by Remco. Once we got it, Camping World installed it for us. Hope this info helps.
Get a DOD disabler that goes in the OBD port. I own a 2007 Tahoe since new. The lifters go bad from the displacement on demand system. Then the heads have to come off. You won’t notice a fuel mileage change and the lifters will last so much longer. Otherwise it’s a great vehicle.
That is a sweet ride, pristine. My good buddy has always Tahoe and GMC and loves them. Interested in how they are flat towable? Transfer case disconnect? We went with a 2019 Crosstrek, manual trans. Bought it from my friend who towed it behind his Holiday Rambler. I don't even know it's behind me, except when I brake.
Super C or Newmar Class A Diesel - nice hint. I flat tow actually 2 different vehicles behind my Canyon Star: a Ford Explorer and the recently purchased FORD Escape HYBRID which has a tow mode and only weights about 3500 lbs. love it. Can’t wait to see what you are buying - maybe a used Dutch Star 🤔?
I would look at the old Jeep Liberty we had a 2004 I towed for 17 yrs. We took it everywhere. Even took it out west in 2020, 2021 when was a 15-16 yr old Jeep. It was a tank. We finally went new with a 2022 Wrangler. But the Liberty back in the day was the #1 4 down towed vehicle behind motorhomes.
If it has the 5.3 look heavily into the dfm delete. That engine reduced thing they do is known to kill the engine do to lifters not getting oil like they need. I have a 03 suburban with the pre dfm 5.3 and 289k miles.
Nice find! Is it a 4x4? Will you go into how to flat tow it? I had a 2001 Ford Expedition, had 356000 miles on it and it threw a rod. One of the best vehicles I have ever had! Will miss the Mustang!
Beautiful! Can you tell us the name of the dealership in NJ? Love our Blue Ox towing system. We have a class A now and our towed vehicle is a 4 door Jeep Wrangler. Think we are gonna be looking at some super C’s at the Hershey show 😊
Good grief. Where do you find these gems? You could be a broker yourself and help other people. I had a suburban, dropped transmission at 11,000 miles, and pther issues. Not a fan but this vehicle looks stellar!
Nice vehicle! I own an ‘06 Nissan Pathfinder. Great car and has 135k on it. Never have had any issues. Seriously, they don’t make them like they used to. Congrats and thinking about you guys with Jason off to college. ~hugs~. It gets better. :)
Izzy & MJ, congrats on the new vehicle! In your video you mentioned that you were going to get the windows tinted at 5%. I recall earlier you were talking about possibly moving to TN for retirement. If you live in the south, you might consider heavier tinting. You may recall that we met you at the NIRVC event in TN recently. We had the blue jeep in the same row that you camped in. We’re from TX and have the Jeep’s front windows at 5% (legal max), the rear side windows are “limousine black” and the rear window is one step up from Limousine black (meaning lighter). This helps TREMENDOUSLY with your vehicle’s a/c being able to cool it down quickly and keep it cool. (Don’t use Limousine black on the back window…because if you wear sunglasses while driving it makes it hard to see out the back.). One final note - having limousine black on the sides “hinders” people from looking into your vehicle while it’s parked. Anyway, just a thought from one Southerner to our potential southerners! (Get here soon!). All the best and safe travels!
Nice choice, very hard to find a low mile gem like this. My only recommendation as a former GM tech is to get a power programmer. 2007 was the first year for AFM, (Active Fuel Management) With the programmer you can turn off AFM. 5.3's are awesome but just watch out for lifter issues. You catch it early it won't eat the camshaft.
Nice unit..I am a Chevy fan for life. Great choice as long as it does not have AFM(Active Fuel Management). This system over time will destroy the engine...just sayin. Enjoy
I agree that the new vehicles are too expensive and low quality. I got a 2023 Ford Bronco. Ordered in 2021. Took 2 years to get it. Chili pepper red with a Thin Blue Line decal across the whole back window. Hard top. Fully loaded ❤ awesome vehicle
Good job! Got yourself a cherry Tahoe! I've owned 2 Suburban's in my life and both were great cars. Current toad is a '14 Wrangler I picked up with 6000 miles on it 3 years ago. Enjoy the ride!
Great find! I have owned multiple Chevy/GMC SUV’s and pickups over the years and enjoyed them all and had minimal problems with them. The only thing I would be cautious about is that I believe 2007 is when GM began using Active Fuel Management with lead to a lot of problems for a lot of owners. But there are ways of disabling that if you’re inclined to do so. Otherwise, I think you have a solid platform that will serve you well over many years!! By the way, I love your videos!!
As far as tinting your windows goes. I thought I heard you say 5% in the video. You may want to rethink that. In Arizona anything less than 30% can get you a ticket!
I LOVE your new vehicle. You remind me of my sons-in-law. They both turn a new-to-them vehicle into a museum piece that is beyond perfect in a few days. Yes, their house is packed with new boxes of toys from the moment they sign on the line. I'm excited to watch your progress. Enjoy! There's a good reason LE uses this make and model. They are especially sweet for K-9s with AC.
Izz, I have a 2004 Tahoe, bought it new, 230,000 miles. Changed fluids like a clock but it's an automatic...looks like yours is too. What are the flat tow conditions???
Congratulations on finding a gem of a used SUV. We had a 2002 Tahoe and put 200K miles on it before passing it on. Will make a great TOAD, but your going to need a bigger motorhome.
I add window visors on my trucks, front and rear windows. Down in this Texas heat you can crack the windows and not worry about rain blowing in. That is if we ever get any rain, lol.
Izzy, that is a phenomenally smart buy! The condition and low mileage are incredible, that's a very rare find, many of those older Tahoes were used up and thrown away! I was about to ask what Nellie's towing capacity is, but you answered that! Hmm, can't wait to see what is next in your future! We tow a Jeep Wrangler behind our DS (the "Dutchess"), it tows easily and we love the mauverability, but a roomy luxury vehicle it isn't! A couple months ago I traded a Jeep Gladiator, which I loved, for a new Jeep Grand Cherokee, we were looking for something a bit larger, but a midsize SUV, a little more comfortable to take trips in. Like the Wrangler, the Cherokee can also be flat towed, but for now, will just stick with the Wrangler.
🙂 Matching radios, coach and Toad. TPS system. Fire Extinguisher. First Aid Kit. If you need more ideas, I can spend your money with the best of them! 🙂
Excellent choice. We used a 2011 Tahoe for a long time. Got 200,000 miles out of it.HA. 2004 Yukon before it. Now towing a 2023 Yukon.Look at the M&G braking system for it. But its weight probably exceeds your Newmar's limit

Very clean Tahoe, I would have thought it was a bit big for Nellie to tow so something else may be changing.
Agree
I have a 2010 5-Speed KIA Sportage. The weight is over 3,000 lbs
That's a big toad.
You got me thinking twice. I was set on a Jeep until this video.
If you are not doing heavy off roading the Tahoe is a far better choice in almost every way.
Wait…. It’s not April Fools’ Day. So…. I guessing possible new Class A as you did not seem too excited about Super C’s after you test drove a few. Possibly something from the NIRVC event???
Those Chevy LS engines are VERY durable. But only a 5k tow rating in your class A ? My E350 class C is rated for …5000.

Yes you can disconnect the transfer case electronically in 10 sec.
4-Runner would be towable with drive shaft disconnect. I did that to my 2018 Tacoma TRD Off-Road and it works well.
