Yeah this makes sense. I was curious as to why the battery in my plasma lighter began swelling up (eventually putting too much pressure against the metal walls and breaking the lighter). What I noticed after plugged it in tho is the circuit board heats up, thus cooking the battery, and making it inflate. Thanks for the vid
My suggestions. 1. Use original battery charger. 2. Don't over charge. Keep charging between 40 to 80 or 30 to 90. We just have to make sure that mobile does not heat up. 3. Avoid using mobile while charging . Specially heavy programs. 4. Avoid using Hotspot. I spoiled my mobile battery because i used 7-8 hrs hotspot daily. Better buy 4G router.
My huawei mate 10 back cover is gradually coming out. For now its just about half mm or 1mm out. I dont exessivelly heat up the device , nor do i store it for a long period of time (i use it dailly). What could be causing that?... And how do i ensure that i'm buying an original battery if in my country there are no official huawei stores...? Any idea? Thanks for the info.

Having just somewhat inadvertently discovered the actual cause for [I suspect most if not all] Li-Ion battery bloating. I then Googled "youtube bloated battery". The 1st pg of results having No mention of the actual cause, I picked your video to watch. Great job video editing and using lots of nice graphics; however, you never answered the question as to WHY. All I heard was a bunch of 'blah, blah blah' had me wanting to raise my hand and ask a question.. :) HUGE Smile on my face right now, lol, cause 'uh-oh! He's gonna ask THA question.. You know, the one that's gonna make me look like a fool in front of everybody..' In my defense, lol, its actually an honest question, born out of a desire to understand whats happening to cause a battery to bloat.. THA question wasn't born of trying to call'em out and make'em look like a fool.. lol So tha quetion is... WHAT GAS is produced inside the battery?? How and why?!? And I attentively listened with great focus every time you said the word GAS, waiting and expecting you to tell us what Gas is produced. I'd had faith in you to at least partially answer the bloated battery WHY question.. I'd expected you to at least say what gas was produced combined with the 'blah blah blah' nonsense [claiming the gas & pressure having MANY different possible causes, blah blah blah] Your explanation and answer wasn't just incorrect or misinformation, but rather just blatant lies. *drum roll please.....* IT'S HYDROGEN GAS being produced in the Li-Ion battery cell.. And I'll further explain why & how I know, as well as the actual cause.. Because, obviously, the Bloating and 'Hydrogen Gas' are the RESULT(S) ... not the cause.. And let me admit, if it were not for my prior personal experience with elemental Lithium, I too, like most others, be clueless as to what's happening in the battery cell to cause the bloating.. It's been awhile, a good 20+ years, since that day in which, like a little child acting on an uncontrollably overwhelming urge to test the boundaries.. I took great caution IN THE HANDLIng of my lithium, keeping it submerged in a suitable NP, [which was usually Xylene]. I always took great caution any time I would expose the Lithium and kept it as short as possible. Having had it drilled into me, the dangers surrounding Lithium and it's reaction to water... One day, working with some lithium, just 'had to' test it and see it for myself, just like a child testing the boundaries.. I remember cutting carrying the glass container (a glass bowl full of Xylene with a qty of Lithium submerged in it) over to the counter beside a large stainless steel sink. I remember thinking, how bad could it REALLY be? So, just to cover my ass, and play it safe, I exercised some good logical caution.. I went small, very very small.. just to start... the little piece that I cut off with an xacto knife while submerged in the NP.......[it] was small.. Did I mention it was REALLY REALLY SMALL??!?!? As in like the size of an ANT.. It was in-between an ant and a HALF of a grain of rice. We'll say 1/4 of a single grain of rice (uncooked obviously). Grabbed it with tweezers and immediately turn 90 degrees and take 1 or two steps up to [the sink] and just dropped the Itty bitty little piece into the empty though wet with little droplets of water all over the sink. I was NOT prepared for that!! the instant that little piece of Li hit the sink, it was VIOLENT alright! It was bouncing off the sink at rocket speeds! I remember my first thought, just a single word.... "DAMN...." followed by "That's kinda COOL!" and at the word cool, [in my mind]... I must have just finished inhaling [breathing], in that single breath in, was NOT prepared for that! I don't even know how to begin to describe it.. It was like something grabbed and ripped my lungs out of my body, I COULDEN'T BREATH, I COULDN'T EVEN Exhale or Inhale, the only word remotely describes it, is PARALYZED. couldn't breath, or catch my breath, couldn't move, absolutely NOTHING, for what 'felt like' an eternity though probably only a second to a few seconds. Probably very similar to drowning, whereby under water, unable to inhale, to take in a breathe.. Now thinking about it, I suspect how I felt was probably identical to that of 'drowning under water'. It was such a miserable experience, this child didn't even think about testing the boundaries any further OR EVER AGAIN. From that moment on, I had NO interest in EVER introducing Mr. Lithium to Ms. H2O [ever again]! All I can say to anybody else considering mixing Lithium & Water....They don't make a happily ever after Couple. The only pertinent, helpful, important and useful advice I could give is this: You can not use 'too little' Lithium... That said, START with MICROSCOPIC AMOUNTS! I'm being SERIOUS, like microscopic as in SMALLER than a single grain [spec] of beach sand.. My experience left me with the impression that even a small amount of Lithium, for example a little round 325mg pill of Acetaminophen (generic Tylenol) size quantity of Lithium... Go get your bottle of Tylenol and hold a small little 300mg'ish pill in your hand... I have NO idea as to what would actually happen from that small of a quantity of Li coming into contact with Water; however, still have to this day, THE IMPRESSION that little of an amount would be like a nuclear bomb going off. I have great respect for Lithium and Water, and can attest to the reaction between Li & H2o is KNARLY and imho goes way above and beyond [being VIOLENT]. Bloated Batteries! That's what brought us down this treacherous path.. So this evening, I'd decided to attempt to repair TWO identical laptops, each having bloated batteries... I used the best, hot air station (an 861dw) to remove the outer most adhesive black plastic in which covered the individual Li=-Ion cells (measuring appx 70 by 50mm and appx 7-8mm deep placed the cells. Then placed them under a Trinocular Amscope on a boomstand and I placed a heat gun (similar to a hair blow dryer) about 10" away, in order to heat up the surrounding atmosphere and environment so as to protect the battery from any atmospheric moisture. Using a Xacto knife, just sharpened immediately prior to its use, created very small puncture hole in each bloated cell and proceeded to vent the cells. with my head and face being directly above the cells I was working on, and NOT wearing any PPE (protective gear such as facial masks and/or breathing gear) breathed a very small volume of Hydrogen Gas which vented out of the battery . Without a doubt, it was Hydrogen Gas.. And for those unlucky folk whom have had the misfortune of previously inhaling Hydrogen Gas AT SOME TIME IN THEIR LIFE, will never forget it. I would say that it's unique and distinct in ways that we'll never forget it or mistake it for something else. Now 2 am, very late, exhausted and falling asleep.. Detailing the surprising why and how will have to be another day.. Although, the attentive folk should have gleamed the "What" is causing it {out of my long winded share}.. And, yes, it's WATER (h20). It's the HOW in which might surprise others.. Infact, investigating the How until I was able to identify the How....Actually, it SURPRISED EVEN ME! I would have NEVER thought of or imagined the How, it surprised even me.. Reminding me of how surprised I was to be told and find out that Electricity doesn't run or flow through wires, contrary to popular belief... (for those wondering wtf I'm talking about, might take the time to go watch a few RUclips videos discussing and explaining such). As for the How in regards to bloated batteries, I wouldn't have been able to think of or even guess the How. And it was only me investigating the How until I successfully identified the How. And I'll admit it wasn't my astronomical iq or some super power behind helping me discover the answers.
