Unfortunately it could be way worse. At least frank and Monica truly believe they have good intentions and it’ll come through sometimes. Some parents have addictions and bipolar and openly hate and abuse their children, in comparison negligence is probably preferable
@@llcourt Oof .. Abuse is r'lly bad. It took their childhood from them. Especially the oldest daughter. Verbal abuse. Negligence. It's worse than I think you realize. It's terrible.

I'll chime into this one. My childhood is like a mirror to this whole show. I'm a gay genius with a brother who struggled with girls, drugs and alcohol. My dad is basically Frank and Terry M as a single person, his name is actually Terry, and my mom is basically Monica with a hint of Fiona. Dad is a shit person, but is so narcissistic that he is convinced he actually tried, mom actually did try but coped so hard that she may as well not have. As a person who is uniquely positioned to comment on it, both situations fucking suck.
Deserving of each other is all that's ever been said cause they sure as crap wasn't worth a crap in the children raising department that's 4sure and the sad part is, this really happens. I remember as a small child around 5yrs old when the youngns that lived below me and I'm talking about at least 8 or 10 kids would come to our house hungry and my mother would feed em while their father stayed drunk and their mother was a run around so to speak. Finally the father slacked up with drinking and kind of raised his children until they could fin for themselves. I do remember my mother whoopn the children's mother so bad that she never came back until we moved to another location. Welfare people didn't care about anything in the 60s and 70s. I don't even know if they had Welfare back then cause everyone took care of their own. I only remember 1 family that was exactly like Frank an Monica and I just spoke of em. Now that is why the show is called Shameless, they had to drug every one of em just to be able to put up with em for 1 evening or day. That's what sad 😔 looks like
I know that this isn't the show's style, but I would've loved to have seen a "what if" scenario episode on what the Gallaghers could've been and had as a family, if Frank and Monica weren't hooked on drugs and had the stability to be decent parents!
Pretty sure they would still be fucked up in some way. What with living in that neighborhood, also Monica still would be bipolar, and Frank's side of the family still being the kind of people that they are. And Frank and Monica have been said by others, *and admitted by themselves* that they've slept around while they were married and living together.
Repeat after me: I woke up, I found her, that’s all I know. REPEAT IT! Now we removed all the drugs from the apartment so they shouldn’t book you but if they do call your lawyer, Saul Goodman. You go it?

I understand what you all are saying, but on the other hand Frank and Monica are still their parent's and I heard somewhere that if a person is going to heal they have to love at least part of where and who they came from
Genuinely don't know how anyone watches scenes like this and thinks anything loving or caring. There are real addicts out there just popping out kid after kid who turn into hurt adults that have to heal. I get that addicts exist, but if you're going to be an addict don't have kids. It doesn't even make sense for them to want to go through a pregnancy or bringing up a child. If you live like this just do everyone a favor and not procreate.
