      It is all about tight packaging for weight and the edgy handling and power delivery with high and sudden torque on the back wheels. Its hyper character would mean a manual would take away from the experience. trust me. You need both handa on the wheel and 100% concentration at all times or it will try to kill you often 🤣 Most fun you can have on 4wheels though.

    I have driven this car model in the Launch edition. It doesn't need power steering. I have EPAS in my racecar and take the fuse out when I race it. It gives me better feel. I have always had manual racecars for 50 years. I want a DCT. I want it for the quick shifts, I want it for never missing a gear. Strange how all F1 cars, rally cars and road race cars are either DCT or a sequential gearbox. The only real disadvantage of a DCT is the gearbox will not allow you to left foot brake into corners with some accelerator input. This is a car that you get up at 4 am to drive your special mountain section. This is not the car you take to the shops for a carton of milk, that car has power steering and it will be an auto.

      Yes, most of them are pretty reliable, especially the 2.0T. No worse than others in the segment, and better than the C class Mercedes. A few owners get pretty annoying electronic that typically get sorted out under warranty. Your experience should be pretty decent if you get a MY18 and up and don't have a weird dealer to be stuck with.

    I own one and it delivered to me more than I expect it. it is nimble, easy to drive, easy controls to understand, before you know it, the car is apart of you. It tells you the road you are in so that you can compensate and correct if you need to fast. You can also swing the back end at will because it is easy if you are listening to the car. Funny to say that but it is true, it does not hide the road from you as many other cars do. I am not spoiled, I am independent an I don't like to be babied, This car is it. If I mess up is because I did it knowing in full what I was getting into. Alfaromeo did great!

However, I NEVER think about manual when driving the 4C. That would be like dating a supermodel and being bothered by the fact she has no big toe. If this Alfa were available with a manual gearbox, I would lust after it. But, not only was there no manual, the paddlebox shifts were also reported to be very clunky. For me, even a really good semi-auto is a deal breaker. Gotta have an H-pattern shifter, and the opportunity to enjoy the process of shifting gears, to be a proper driver's car. The decision not to offer a true manual, and the use of this harsh dual-clutch, killed this otherwise fantastic little car.

      yeah, I said the SAME thing. Then got to drive one. I think it's the only car I've ever driven that a manual might not make sense. I can't even describe it beyond needing both hands on the wheel when you start to push it and click those video game steering wheel mounted paddles

    I would suggest everyone in the "but it's not manual!" camp first go and drive one before they comment 😂 If you understand and experienced how edgy and nervous the steering and handling is, paired with the low weight (EU specs cars are 2000lb...) you will understand that a manual would detract from the driving experience in this unique case. The rest of the the raw experience more than makes up for the lack of a clutch pedal... You need both hands on the wheel and 150% concentration AT ALL times or it will try to kill you every chance it gets 😂 I drive mine daily. Pure joy. If there was a high revving N/A engine option like a v6 that would work in manual, but having the torque to weight ratio of a GTR or an early C63AMG with sudden delivery to the back wheels when the boost hits... you will want to have all your reflexes and energy focussed on the job at hand 😉 (And I have manual classic Alfas and race cars so not an auto fan)

      @davidturgeon2087 8 месяцев назад

      @@saneepeopleonly Apparently, a manual transmission was judged to be poorly matched with the 1.75L turbo engine. For example, the quick shifting TCT keeps the engine boost on boil, while the shift timing (in auto) and shift speed is electronically adjusted to suit whichever Alfa 'DNA' driving mode is selected. It's a pretty slick system.
