More kid friendly, but I would recommend Lady in White from 1988. I remember thinking it was creepy as a kid. Picked it up on blu-ray a few years back and thought it held up pretty well. I believe it’s on Tubi.
The Invitation is a good one. Not sure if I would call it a horror movie but I suppose the premise is horrific. That one guy from the Drew Carey Show is in it. I had no idea he was such a great serious actor until this.

"Satan's Little Helper" is a nice recommendation. "The Guest" is also very good although I'd personally put it in the thriller category (like "The hitcher") but regardless, definitely worth a watch ! One of my favourite underrated horror movies is "Triangle" but it's definitely not everyone's cup of tea.
There are definitely a lot of good underrated horror movies out there. I'm going to add my own recommendations: - The Cremator (dir. Juraj Herz, 1969) - available from Criterion (US) and Second Run (UK) - Jacob's Ladder (dir. Adrian Lyne, 1990) - available from Lionsgate (US) and Imprint (AUS) - Cure (dir. Kiyoshi Kurosawa, 1997) - available from Criterion (US) and Eureka (UK) - Dolls (dir. Stuart Gordon, 1986) - available from Arrow (US & UK) - La Llorona (dir. Jayro Bustamante, 2019) - Available from Criterion and streaming on Shudder - A Tale of Two Sisters (dir. Kim Jee-woon, 2003) - Available from Arrow (UK) and Umbrella (AUS) - Messiah of Evil (dir. Willard Huyck & Gloria Katz, 1974) - Available from Radiance (US & UK) - Kuroneko (dir. Kaneto Shindô, 1968) - Available from Criterion (US) and Eureka (UK) - Censor (dir. Prano Bailey-Bond, 2021) - Available from Vinegar Syndrome (US) and Second Sight (UK) - A Page of Madness (dir. Teinosuke Kinugasa, 1926) - Available from Flicker Alley
One movie I like to watch around Halloween is Mr. Sardonicus. 1961, black and white, kind of gothic look to it with the time period and settings. Not the greatest or scariest movie you'll ever see, but it's just got a vibe to it that I think is good for spooky season. Stars Guy Rolfe, who's also in another movie I like to watch around this time of year, Dolls from 1987. Again, not the scariest or greatest movie you'll ever see, but it's fun and has that vibe to it with a cool setting in a creepy mansion.
Flesheater is a fun film with Romero vibes. It's a good 4K. Another great zombie film is Bio Zombie. I describe it as Dawn of the Dead meets Mallrats. Vinegar Syndrome also released a nice Blu-ray, but a shame they didn’t include the English dub. Adds a lot of humour. Blood and Black Lace is awesome.
With you mentioning The Invitation (great film in my opinion as well), John Caroll Lynch was also the character Eastman in The Walking Dead as well. Such a good performance in that show, and what led me to discovering that movie. Great list of movies, man.
Really good call with The Invitation. I feel like The Autopsy of Jane Doe is still underseen and really great. An 80s backwoods slasher that is often overlooked and has a really great setting and cinematography is The Final Terror, which has a lot of familiar faces. I've still yet to see Blood and Black Lace. I'm gonna have to grab that one soon. Joe Dante's praises it too in his Trailers from Hell video on it.
Ken if you want to see some underrated horror movie. Then you should check out these horror movies1988 976 evil & 1983 mountaintop motel massacre & 1989 the dead pit & 1990 demon wind & 1987 the kindred & 1987 the lamp & 1992 Mikey & 1991 popcorn & 1983 the prey
I like dark night of the Scarecrow. I wish they would have made the 2nd one only a few years later with the same feel. It would have been good that way. Others wise the 2nd as it stands is trash. Rent a pal is not bad wish there was a little more to it though.
Here are some underrated horror movies that are very good and deserve more attention: - The Burning - Demons 1 & 2 - Razorback - Dead and Buried - The House on Tombstone Hill - Masoleum - Evil Dead Trap - The House by the Cemetary - Chopping Mall - The Prowler - Dog Soldiers - Nightmare 1981
Night of the demons 2 is also worth a watch in my opinion both are great. Hell night and Hide and go shriek would be two 80s slasher movies i think are little underseen. For something more modern I'll throw out truth or dare(the English version) The Divide 2011 Calibre 2018 Cheap thrills 2013 Pathology 2008 and Asylum 2008 Hunter hunter, The Lodge, P2, The Ruins, Timber falls 2008 and Rogue 2008.
Yeah man a really good collection of movies for the season I will try to stream and perhaps buy some. Good choices from you many thanks. The only two I have seen are In the mouth of madness and Blood and black lace. Both great picks.
Drag me to hell is underrated good movie 4k coming Kenny don’t pass on it . Ouji another one it has 4k as well . I temember telling you how much i loved Frankenhooker. But i iust recently rewatched it and reaalized she isnt frankenhooker till the last 30 minutes. Sp for yhat , i really dont like it anymore. She is the only good part on the movie. She only comes on after an hour into the movie and by then, its almost already finished.
More kid friendly, but I would recommend Lady in White from 1988. I remember thinking it was creepy as a kid. Picked it up on blu-ray a few years back and thought it held up pretty well. I believe it’s on Tubi.
Clown is another good one. The whole idea of a cursed clown costume is original. Also, it kind of crosses the line as far as taste.
The Invitation is a good one. Not sure if I would call it a horror movie but I suppose the premise is horrific. That one guy from the Drew Carey Show is in it. I had no idea he was such a great serious actor until this.

Demons 1 and 2 are fun Halloween movies. This may be controversial, but I think part two is the best of the two.
@@garyrichardson475 I just reviewed part 2 and I thought it was definitely on par with the first.
Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon is one of my favorite underrated movies.
Dead Silence is one I always recommend as being underrated. Its directed by James Wan and written by Leigh Whannell.
Ken, night of the demons looks good, but quite expensive, good video so far

Big yes to Nightmare its a unique slasher film also great to see Razorback get mentioned.
The Girl With All the Gifts - very good UK zombie flick
From the Dark - Irish film with a primitive resurrected vampire.
Down aka The Shaft (2001). It's free on Prime Video. The movie is about a killer elevator in a high-rise building. Need I say more?
Night of the demons 2 is also worth a watch in my opinion both are great. Hell night and Hide and go shriek would be two 80s slasher movies i think are little underseen. Don't recall if it was related to Halloween in any way but the underrated Fright Night 2 (original one) is a great watch with all the monsters.
I’ve seen a handful of these films over the last few years.
Just watched night of the demons last night
