▷ ABOUT ME
Hello! My name is Kristen, I am 22 years old, from Sacramento CA, and I am graduating in the Spring with my BA in Psychology. I created this channel for three reasons that are very close to my heart. One, to help others be able to tell their stories and be advocates for mental health, to give recovery tips and tricks to help others find the help they need, and to spread awareness for mental health issues to fight the stigma surrounding it. The more we talk about mental illness the more normalized it will be in our society and the more people will not be ashamed to get help!
☆ DISCLAIMER ☆ I am not a professional. If you are seeking professional advice please go see your primary care doctor or therapist. The information in this post is based on personal experiences, personal knowledge, or research I have done on the subject. If this is an emergency please call 911, call your local crisis line suicidepreventionlifeline.org/ or go to your nearest hospital.
I am beyond grateful to be a part of this video, and hopefully being able to inspire some sort of change. Kristen, you are doing a great service to people across the globe, and it's clear that people appreciate what you are doing. I love you so much as a friend and as a fellow warrior in the battle to erase the stigma of mental illness!
its refreshing to see some guys talk about mental illness because theres so much stigma
I had so much fun creating this video. I am extremely passionate about spreading awareness that there is no shame in reaching out for help. Men have different barriers than women when reaching out for help. I hope that this video helps someone out there feel not alone!
LikeKristen you're awesome! Thank you for making such a difference and helping me!
LikeKristen. thank you for trying to make a difference in the world about this you have done so much for me thank you so much keep up the good work
Did I never comment on this? I am not good at youtube anymore! Thank you so much for letting me be a part of this project, Kristen! I'm in great company!
Society which believes that men expressing their emotions are weak and those being cold hearted and even cruel are strong is seriously messed up. Unfortunately, this is the society we still live in. All of you guys, trying to break this stigma and change at least something, are really cool. Thank you all so much!
"I told them that I was fine, and that I can deal with it on my own, and that I'm okay. I was not okay."
Story of my life.
I never truly realised the stigma against men having mental illness until I had been mentally ill for around 2 years. I'm male, suffer from major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, psychosis and bipolar type 2. I have thousands of self harm scars on every inch of my body and I've made multiple suicide attempts. the stigma hasn't affected me too badly but I've heard stories of people being rejected help simply for "being male". it just isn't okay.
Awesome video. I've had so many men in my life suffer silently from mental illness and refuse to get help or even admit they have a problem. Seeing this gives me hope as well as some more understanding of their experience.
I always mention when I'm not feeling so great on my channel. It's okay to feel and express emotions - positive and negative. The people that would judge you for it probably aren't doing so well themselves.
bless you! i really enjoyed this.
MEN-tal health
God, I don't know what it is about your videos but they make me feel all the feels.
Love the video Kirstin.

Thank you guys for sharing your heart and inspiring one another
I wish I could like this video a million times ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Your videos really brighten my day Kristen. ^^ what you do is really helpful for breaking the stigma around mental health. This video was really refreshing to watch.
I have a question: what are you most afraid of?
I asked on another video but you never answerd^^

Gumi Swimming I know right!!!
You can search for it on the internet and buy one for yourself if you have the means!
Thanks, this is a really important issue. There's alot of progress to be made here.
Could you do a video on depersonalisation disorder? I find your videos really informative so it'd be nice to understand DPD more!
MusiczSora would love to!
great video
This is so interesting! I'm surprised you didn't collab with Scott since he was someone that inspired you to make a channel, but you totally should eventually. Anyway, we've talked about stuff like this in a class I'm taking called psychology and women. Did you take a course like that? I'm loving the more frequent videos!!
They had a class like that at my college but it didn't fit into my schedule. I did take a women's studies course my first semester thou. And I did ask Scott but he was busy :) we have collaborated a BUNCH on my channel already.
LikeKristen oh gosh I gotta go back and watch some vids then! I know you guys met at vidcon and I was so hyped about that. Well I'm glad you took a course about it.. psychology is an awesome major. And I wish you the best of luck in your future videos as well as when you decide you want to work or pursue teaching :)
There're so many people trapped in toxic masculinity. It's really sad.
