Hello,Mr.Brian Mclogan..Your presentation was nice...I have a question.Scientists found a fossilized bone from an organism in a deep layer of rock. When they took the bone back to the lab they realized that the bone had only 12.5percent of total Carbon 14 left.Based on the amount of carbon 14 left in the bone how old is the bone.?half life:carbon 14-5730 years..thank you
Hi, in the first formula you showed. y=ae^rt. t=5730. But how did you get in the second formula (ln.5/5370)*t . I am not sure how you went back to the variable t. I see e^r when r=(ln.5/5370) by why are there 2 T's. Thank you
I have a question. Is it rare that a fossil has color? I found a leaf fossil which has some green leaves and I don't know if it's common. I tried googling it but didn't find anything.
I would fail without your explanations. You make it look so easy.
happy to be able to help you our Marisa!
u have saved my life ur so awesome
happy to help!
You’ve definitely helped me get through MAT109
Boom!!
This video is pure gold. Thank you for making this!

3 half-life's , so the bone is 17190 years old .

I look the log of both sides and used the rules of logarithms
Thanks professor. I took pre-calu before and did very well in it. Just brushing up on some things. You're my go too instructor.
how would I find the rate if it wasnt given to me?
Nice explination.
I just finished my assignment thanks to you. Thank you so much!
You are very welcome!!

I want to take this man's hand in marriage!
This saved me
Great video
thanks khizar!
just wondering, why not use the formula A=A*/2^n?
+Aquilabashir never used that one before
ur getting the same formula simply it
a represents both final and initial value?
no he is just always making mistakes
y is the final value and a is the initial value
2:50 I thought we knew what the half-life was and were trying to find out what the time is because it says how long ago was the coal burned
@Akshay Tallikar Calls people retarded and uses "too" instead of "to"
We do know what the half life is but we have missing variables to put it simply
@Akshay Tallikar Lucas statement is valid unlike your poorly written comment.
Funny when you call out students inattention in vids. Britney is famous8 years later. Lol
Haha
No incorrect.. A carbon 14 test is good up to around 50,000 years
No it has a half life of 5,700
Correct, usually approx. ten half-lives is the effective limit.
