Your consistency Was something I worried about for you bro. Because posting every day as a fellow content creator is A Herculean task. But I can tell you’ve got a really cool system on how to pump out content all while sitting in your office. I salute that from one content creator of color to another that we need more diversity in the personal finance space. You’re definitely planting a lot of seeds that will yield a great harvest. Keep going bro!
I feel the same way about M1 finance. Once I found out about buying factional shares. This open my portfolio in buying Reit, companies stock, & bonds. Every week dropping 40 dollars and watching it grow with the reinvested dividends.
@@zrowedaartistviews2278 Just started with M1 in March, I had Robinhood I could only buy full stock price. I seen all my stocks grow better even when they down my dividends balance it out.
I feel like you are yelling at me at the beginning of the video, but good video! As far as the $125 annual fee for M1 Finance Plus, if you can't make up the cost of $125 by getting an opportunity to trade the same day over a year, then yes it isn't for you because you are a small player. Once you get thousands in your account, your account will fluctuate hundreds or thousands per day, so being able to buy at 3pm should recoup your $125 in one trade or maybe in one month. Also, as far as borrowing, I can see that being a advantage if you have investment properties where you can buy a condo, you'll need money for the down payment (~$30k) and renovation cost (~$20k) and but after one good year you can pay that money back from the income the condo will make. That is my situation, so I see this as a nice to have as well!
Bottom line, for beginner investors, these partial share companies like M1 may be ok but once your portfolio gets high enough that it generates sizeable diividends, you no longer need the ability to buy partial shares. I moved my account to Vanguard and pay zero fees. Having to buy full shares only is no big deal and executions of trades are instant.
I really like dynamic rebalancing, how M1 Finance can invest and reinvest in the under performing pieces of your pie. But you have to be careful not to rebalance and cause a big taxable event. I have etrade and wish the big brokers had a dynamic rebalancing.
I started using M1 back in November. I have no complaints. I just got a Robinhood account just to put any extra money in Delta & I'm glad I have M1 as my main brokerage. Robinhood just isn't as good & they crash too much. But I do have a question. Originally when I opened up M1 Finance account I was a newbie. So I chose moderately aggressive portfolio. Now my that I'm more comfortable with investing & have a higher tolerance I want to change the percentage of my shares. When I started I had it set up where 27% goes to VCIT & 23 goes to VOO. I want to decrease VCIT to it by 12% & increase VOO & also add SPHD. But I'm not sure how to edit my pie to change the percentage of my shares.
I use acorns and m1 finance for my long term investing. Once I investing the amount I set for the month, if I money left over I can use robinhood, cash app or Sofi money to buy other stocks and stuff. ( more risky, that’s why I do with the left over money )
I think another con of M1 Finance is the fact that you cannot do limit orders. Or maybe there is a way, but I haven't seen it. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
You didnt mention the auto invest feature. You just deposit money and it does everything for you. You can even automate it and not have to do anything. They also have IRAs.
It will pull from your checking account (usually monthly), and split your deposit into the stocks/ETFs you have picked and the percentage you picked. You will have to set it up though. Not too hard. If your job/industry is stable, it makes it very easy to build wealth long-term.
M1 investment formula is absolutely brilliant. However, beware of their hidden fees and inexistent customer service. When you email their customer support, you will obviously get - within minutes - the typical automated response with a ticket number for your query. After that you may wait 7 to 10 business days to receive a response written by a human. When you call their so called “customer success” phone line, you can expect to be on hold for a minimum of 30 minutes and occasionally you may even experience an automated message telling you that you have been on hold for too long and that, they will now disconnect the call. I wouldn’t encourage anyone to keep large sums of money on their M1 account(s). I am still using M1 but only for weekly pocket change. Too bad because the product really is fantastic with nothing like it out there.
Lol ...I had to turn down the volume to me it sounds like you are talking too fast and telling at me. Lol. Still great video looking for new platform moving from robinhood after 4 years there not happy after all this GME stuff and restrictions
I should also add that you are incorrect as to why Vanguard can charge such low fees. Its not because they are big. Its because Vanguard is not a private or publicly traded company. Vanguard is owned by its customers. Since you own shares in Vanguard ETF's, you are a part owner of Vanguard.
Yo !! This is the video I was looking for ! Would your recommending me starting my Roth IRA with m1 or another brokerage. I have bought some shares and I've been investing small amounts every week with M1 Finance. A reply would be greatly appreciated
Any books you recommend. I'm a technical analyst and trying to get back into the game but also educate myself more sort of like a refresher. Thanks for your info
Tommy, what are your thoughts on these new electric vehicle start ups? Specifically, Nikola and Lord's town? Are they destine to be like Tesla or are they an afterthought? Thx in advance. Appreciate your thoughts.
So im relatively new to this. So the only major difference on m1 is that you can choose your own pie compared to robinhood for example? I have 3 stocks so far through robinhood so if i keep buying stocks through there it would ultimately be the same as if i were to do it through m1 right? Or am i missing something. Great videos by the way!
Is there a way to transfer the money I have from one brokerage account straight to another without transferring to the bank than back to M1? I have 2 different portfolios (2 brokerage account) in the same M1 account. When I go into TRANSFERS it just give me the option to send to bank and not to another brokerage account. Thank you!
M1 plus IS worth the money. Tommy, you break things down by per day cost in other videos.... 125 for the whole year is less than 11 dollars a month....
Yo Tommy I was wondering what key light you use for your face? ~Looks great Also I tried checking your Kit link for your camera gear but it seems to be broken 💯
I really appreciate and enjoy your work. Question do you have any negative thoughts or view on Robinhood i jumped in not knowing what i am doing and now with your help and other means I habe made some good moves. Thank you
hey Tommy I opened a m1 finance account and everything was going great but I can't connect my bank. my bank is citizens bank and I I looked and saw it wasn't supported. I don't wanna open a whole new account with another bank. i have a robinhood account as well also a webull account. does it really matter too much if I don't do this thru m1 finance? or is it that big a difference?
Great video little bro. But I don't understand how we move money in and out? I was just talking to a family member about M1 fiance. So this was right on time. Still trying to understand all the lingo.
To buy Amazon, google and Facebook would take forever? Who are you and who is your audience? I can do that all day long. I’m new to this and enjoying your video but maybe I should run with a bigger dog
Tommy contradicts himself quite a but in video titles and what he says concerning platforms, yet he has accounts every where. LOL. "Iam against M1 Pkus" then another video both 1 year ago "I have a M1 Finance account" he is all over the place. You can't take people like this seriously. Also how is he a accountant and able to record, edit and post videos everyday ?

How do I build my credit fast and easy
Have you heard of Robinhood scandal
☝🏽 a question. All these investing accounts you have, they all taxable accounts?
Do you have a referral code for M1?

How has been working
@@zrowedaartistviews2278 Just started with M1 in March, I had Robinhood I could only buy full stock price. I seen all my stocks grow better even when they down my dividends balance it out.
ThaHarlem Gigolo I use Robinhood and maybe when you were using it you couldn’t buy fractional shares but now it’s a option
I am thinking of starting an m1. How is it?
I feel like you are yelling at me at the beginning of the video, but good video! I was using Webull but now I’m going to start with m1 finance.. I’m a long term investor and the platform is great. M1 and vanguard all day
🙌🏾 yess agreed. Vanguard and M1! best combo
you are one of the goat youtubers when it comes to finance! thanks always for your insight!
Thanks man, step by step 😎
Yes...what he said!

Love Vanguard
@@IAmAwesomeSoAreYou is that what platform you use to invest??
Good advice for me and other new investors. Thanks Tommy, it's exciting to see other young entrepreneurs have successful mindsets. Keep it up! 💯
Thanks 😎and step by step
Thanks for explaining M1
That's great to hear good and bad things from you.
I really like dynamic rebalancing, how M1 Finance can invest and reinvest in the under performing pieces of your pie. But you have to be careful not to rebalance and cause a big taxable event. I have etrade and wish the big brokers had a dynamic rebalancing.
Exactly that’s why I like the dynamic way of doing things, especially if your investing regularly
Can International investors use M1 Finance to invest?
How can u add another pie on it
What type of account do I make??? Individual??
That’s what I have
If I wanted to withdraw all my money for a house in 10yrs would I get penalized or just taxed?
I love M1. Thanks for the video you have another new subscriber.

Click on the pie and then manage and then change it from their as you make new investing it’ll distribute the money accordingly
Is this the only place you invest into?
Do you use Vanguard? and what is the major difference between M1 Finance and Vanguard?
This is dope video! Thanks for breaking everything down
Where is your link for sofi bank? I wanna join.
Hey tommy do you advise having more than one investing app?
I use acorns and m1 finance for my long term investing. Once I investing the amount I set for the month, if I money left over I can use robinhood, cash app or Sofi money to buy other stocks and stuff. ( more risky, that’s why I do with the left over money )
Definitely think m1 is a great app for setting up a diversified portfolio... great vid
I just started using fidelity I'm having issues with webull when it comes to connecting my capital one account through plaid 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
I think another con of M1 Finance is the fact that you cannot do limit orders. Or maybe there is a way, but I haven't seen it. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
I'm so confused with M1 finance since I have the free account. It only let's me buy a day in advance but I don't even know what price I'm buying at..

Is this how you genuinely talk cause???????? OML 😭
Lol 😂
Lol ...I had to turn down the volume to me it sounds like you are talking too fast and telling at me. Lol. Still great video looking for new platform moving from robinhood after 4 years there not happy after all this GME stuff and restrictions
what if you empty out all your investment back to your checking account? is there a penalty?
Good question
No other than tax obligations.

is your m1 acct labeled as individual -409 or something else ??
They assign you a account name but you can change the name as shown
Hi Tommy I have 2 questions first I’m only 14 can I invest into stocks and if I can how much money should I invest
Only way to do it under 18 is to have an account under your parents
Yeah gotta have your parents make you an account, and you can invest as much as you want, I would do it weekly
Ok thank you man
Thank you tommy your videos are amazing and very helpful

New to this... this portfolio for me kinda losing money so what do I do... hold it?
Great info Tommy! I joined M1 back on June 23rd
Omg thank you so much I needed this...
Where do you go for your saving? Acorn?
No current Sofi, however varo money has the best rates if you a direct deposit set up
Is there a video on varo money?
Yo !! This is the video I was looking for !
Would your recommending me starting my Roth IRA with m1 or another brokerage. I have bought some shares and I've been investing small amounts every week with M1 Finance. A reply would be greatly appreciated
No reply was ever given... :/
I don’t have that much capital, is m1 finance a good idea for me?
2 percent to make 8 percent ? a bad focus ?
Do you recommend starting investing in a roth IRA or in a regular account? M1 Finance
start investing in an IRA account as soon as you can
There is a free offering for the debit card and it still has 1% cash back. Solid for a debit card
I thought anytime you rebalance your portfolio on M1 it is a taxable event?

True, but there's another option, M1 will automatically rebalance (non-taxable) when you make additional deposits.
