On the back of Lagwagon's Feedbag of Truckstop Poetry 7" on which their cover of this song was first released Jawbreaker are clearly credited beside the songs title.
For sure. Billie Joe namedropped Jawbreaker in an interview so I had to check 'em out. Even after 25 years, I'm still discovering stuff because of Green Day.
Will Johnson Also the bridge from Dead Kennedys' "Pull My Strings". I think there's a classical piece it's based on; like, how there's a million pop songs that riff on Pachelbel's canon (I'm not sure I am spelling that name right; I kept wanting to type "Taco Bell's canon". I'm hungry).
JohnSmithAprilMay Thank god I wasn't the only one that noticed the similarities between Canon in D and some bass lines. Carousel by Blink182 really reminds me of it.
So Lagwagon definitely covered this and I can't find any credit given to Jawbreaker. Kind of makes me ask wtf? Great song. I just wish Lagwagon would've given some credit... then I might have gotten into Jawbreaker way sooner.
Lagwagon did give credit though. The album that contains this song, "Let's talk about leftovers" by lagwagon is all covers of some of their favorite bands and some rarities (as stated clearly on the album and credits)
Totally agree, Nicholas. Already have my tickets to the album's anniversary show in SF where they are playing it in it's entirety. Stoked, too, because it is my favorite album by them and I have seen them many times but have not heard many of the songs.
I love jawbreakers but I don’t understand why people hail Blake as the best lyricist when he’s lyrics read like the livejournal entry of a teenager who just read chuck palahniuk for the first time two nights ago.
Writing the greatest hook of a career just to make the listener wait 2 full minutes to hear it is punk rock ingenuity at its finest
This song brings back memories. Jawbreaker were such a big influential band, but don’t get the credit they deserve.
Love this song, love this art cover, love cats, love melancholy, love punk rock, love everything in this song.
...and for thouse words, i love YOU
oh yeah GO JAWBREAKER!!!!
yno hardcore and grunge n roll
I don't like cats, but everything else is fine
Except the vocals
This song got me into Jawbreaker
sometimes I'll go to music stores and plug in a bass and play this song just to see if anyone recognizes it
Super late reply but have there been any takers?
@Ryan Damn, yeah
@Ryan LMAO
@Ryan HAHAHAHAH TRUE
Yup,and I’d hop on the drums to let you know that we are from the same cloth good sir!!
This makes me feel like a teenager again, and I'm only 24
Same. I'm 46
27 now
I know a chaz riley so this is weird
Same, 28 here
22 and this is my second teenage life

I fall in love everytime I hear this song
damn i could listen to this all day i never got a chance to see jawbreaker live someone needs to get crackin on that time machine already
They were just on tour.
This song is such a friggin earworm...Listened to it at least a dozen times tonight...
This really might be the best song ever. It led me down a different musical path and opened up a whole new perspective
Haha awesome, they played in my friends garage on this tour :)
Arcata. Humboldt state. 1990. Jawbreaker rocked us hard. Way better than greedyday.
I bet Arcata was a lot of fun in the 90s.

@schpoingle Saw Jawbreaker and Jawbox together in 94. Still have the flyer somewhere around here. Good times.
I'm here to pay my respects to this absolute cracking song which i always thought was always Lagwagons.
same!
The fact that this came out in 1990 is ridiculous.
blasting this on christmas 2019 2am. lot nicer stereo now though 🤘❤️
Damn, it's so good.
...so timeless
Unrequited desire or love?
one of the better bands from the 80's-90's
Best album track. Skate rock soundtrack
This is what heaven must be like!
You cannot make up greatness.
i wish blake was my english teacher
hello Will... nice name ;)
What a cute cat!
LOVE THIS BAND/SONG TO DEATH
this song is for you M, always.
RIP jawbreaker cat!
Lagwagons cover sounds like the real deal
Blink 182 owes royalties, the intro of this song is the blueprint for everything they did until they went major label
I love how this album is called Unfun and there is a cat on the cover. Haha. Cats are totally unfun.
No
Its like proto-pop-punk
Best
Preza
this reminds me of clinton, pauly shore movies, and when the simpsons were still good.THE 90's!
Love song emo for live
OH Yeah!
Richard Butler mixed with joe Strummer and for better or worse -- The beginning of Emo.
uuuuuufffffff....great..!!!!
Six people are unfun.
90 to 1 ratio is pretty damn good, though.
Funny that they started their run with a Cat (Unfun) and ended it with a donkey (Dear You). Jawbreaker for life!
I want that cat :3
Jawbreaker is the shit! :D
I could rub one out to this thumping track
lol
Thanks to east bay punk movie for this song
I’m useing this for a music vidio
come here to listen to this song after the band like my picture in instagram using a unfun shirt
I bet Green day listened to this track. (When I come around bassline)
Mike Dirnt shared on Instagram a picture of his playlist which included this song lol
For sure. Billie Joe namedropped Jawbreaker in an interview so I had to check 'em out. Even after 25 years, I'm still discovering stuff because of Green Day.
the bass line reminded me of "when i come around" [green day]. Nice song.
really similar to play

It is super similar to Green Day wtf

In fairness, Lagwagon is fucking boring and not worth the time of day from anyone who likes interesting music.
You gotta be kidding. They are super talented and have great music.
Let's Talk About Feelings is one of the best 90s punk albums, period.
Totally agree, Nicholas. Already have my tickets to the album's anniversary show in SF where they are playing it in it's entirety. Stoked, too, because it is my favorite album by them and I have seen them many times but have not heard many of the songs.
you might be reaching but that's interesting that you noticed. New band, 'forgetters' has no JB tho :< and even the previous 'thorns of life'.
sounds like old bayside!
You mean Bayside sounds like jawbreaker
