      this is not the time to be proud but the time to question. we live in a country or society which is failing very badly because of a Ignorant leadership. soon these scientific experiments will became a matter of fun which people will do on street to have a living. you might be proud, maybe you think you live in a third world poor country but i can assure you that for Indians these are child play. you born in a country which is thousands of year old, it has the knowledge and information of those thousands of years and generation, just lacks a leadership that can steer this knowledge in the right way.

If we simply convert AC into DC and have a variable voltage output, can't we just get oxygen(and hydrogen as by-product) from water.

    We had performed this experiment in school where we used Hydrogen Peroxide & Potassium Permanganate to produce oxygen. I remember one of the students asking the professor if this is how oxygen is provided to patients in hospitals. The professor said that this reaction produces pure oxygen and pure oxygen is actually harsh and harmful to our respiratory system, It is usually mixed with other gases to reduce it's concentration. I don't know how these scientists tackled that issue but I would request people not to try this method for your friends and family battling COVID. I know everyone is desperate to find a solution but this will actually make matters worse. I hope everyone is safe and also pray for the speedy recovery of your loved ones.

    Specific volume of gas is almost thousand times in comparison to specific volume of liquids. That's why oxygen or any gaseous thing is stored and transported cryogenically, to save cost and improve efficiency.
    Specific volume is inverse or reciprocal of density. Specific volume (v) it simply means that space occupied by 1 kg of gas or liquid. Ex..1 kg of liquid oxygen can be stored in any 1 ltr jar (under specific environment) ,but 1 kg of gaseous oxygen will acquire space of living room. Just think how difficult it would be to transport and store gaseous oxygen.

    Why not use RuO to catalyst to electrolysis water into H2O2 as it can absorb oxygen from atmosphere. The we can transport it to places using normal trucks. ( We will have to concentrate it above 95% to delay self ionisation )
    Then pas this over electroplated porus silver.
    This will generate oxygen and steam. We can then use the high pressure steam to run pump reducing it pressure head and converting a small ammount of heat to electricity. To help reduce the electricity needed to cool the output.
    ( RuO is exotic, I kniw about it's an industrial catalyst and the supply can be procured at scale and makes the process sustainable and a cycle. No waste )

    The oxygen cylinder doesn't contain only oxygen,it has all gases in proper ratio
    If you inhale only oxygen them rip

    The instant disadvantage of this method is, that with current devastated system of supply chain, even the ingredients will get shortfall. So we will be back where we started. PSA units should be setup in big hospitals so that sustainably oxygen is generated. It will need electricity to run the compressor and that can be tackled with a in-house solar energy plant.
    But no matter what we try to do, whatever innovation we do, honestly its too late. We have to see thousands of more deaths before any concrete solution is found.

    It's actually being used in submarines where they use candles to burn for maintaining o2 levels... I was wondering why they are not using this ...

  • @pcpatel01
    @pcpatel01 3 года назад

    Just a query hope it makes sense. Why not use electrolysis process separate o2 & hydrogen, use cryo cooler compressor to convert o2 from gas to liquid state and store in a canister for later usage as and when required. This might help reduce the size as well as quick manufacturing of oxygen too

  • @1ndragunawan

    Electrolysis of water equals Hydrogen, burn it or vent it out, and Oxygen, check if it's at acceptable temperature. That's the easiest one, you don't have to buy any chemicals, just water electricity and suitable electrode.

    Electrolysis is also a good source of oxygen and it can be continuous. Only issue is selection of electrode because it contaminates oxygen. If we have some inert electrode, That oxygen can be in purest. Also, Electrolysis is scalable.

    I don't understand one thing, why we are not using electrolysis of water for oxygen generation. I know it is not energy efficiency but if people are dying we should do that. Important thing is it needs. only water and electricity, which is available in large quantities. So why we are not using it?

  • @srinivasb6425
    @srinivasb6425 3 года назад

    Ok In terms of molarity the quantity of O2 generated will be much smaller than the quantity of the chemicals used. In an emergency when nothing else is available this can be used for a few days. Best is the PSA method.

    I have been searching for carbonates and percarbonates since one one year , this process has been used since decades . Even today it is used in submarines for backup oxygen supply .. it’s not easy to source chemicals in India easily ... good job though . Other way is cryo accumulator . You should try that .

    PSA- Pressure Swing ADSORPTION

  • @ravibarj
    @ravibarj 3 года назад

    At the initial stage of covid infection, we can consider using cpap instead of an oxygen concentrator. Putting atmospheric air under pressure into the lungs increases the quantity of air and consequently the quantity of oxygen. Let the separation of oxygen from the air be done by the lungs. A cheap portable cpap can be developed using a water pump and nose mask. Please think on these lines.
