    I love this intersection of retro computing, hardware hacking, musicianship, and just raw experimentalism.

    Thanks for exploring this feature. It's an interesting quirk that it seems buggy, but great you still demonstrated it working with a few bodges.I enjoy seeing people explore the nuances of the back in the day real hardware. The guy who said he was exploring 14 bit sound has a thread on EAB about it where he and others discuss his experiences, it's great to see the community join in too on these things and help the exploration.

    even though I'm not a soundtracker pro II user, I really wish this would work for you! the 8 channel dream is something I've been wondering about a lot lately in regards to the amiga trackers that aren't OctaMED.
    I asked a few coders to try and help me sync up 2 protrackers but I'm told the code is so messy that it's hard to do, but I'm still clutching on to a hope handful of faith in case some one wakes up in the middle of the night and goes AHA! - this is how to do it!.
    The clock sync would be 101% satisfaction from the user that you're in safe hands syncing them up, however... to be honest "manual-sync" is actually pretty rock solid on 2 amiga's (as long as they're the same amiga!) and will only drift out of time after about 7 or 8 minutes which is fine for a full track. A clicktrack at the start also helps once you have the 2 flanged up.
    The only problem then is user control, you want the workflow to be good between the 2 amiga's even with 2 Mice, so you want to only have play/stop/cont and the pattern-sequencer-position going to just 1 finger press.
    So with that said, with custom USB keypads this can be done actually but you need to faff about with green-Amikeys/SUM (I found out the black-amikey's don't work for it) and yeah, a keypad with 2 X RP2040's (wires bridged across from one rp24040 to the other) with some QMK code on it (I can confirm that works with amikeys/SUM) I had to have some one help me with the QMK code though it's horrible!

    I was working on a different little project, as I got the TherapSID in. I was menu diving on the Pro 3 (first time) to get the CV voltages set to work with the TherapSID. Sadly, though, both the SIDs I have in the TherapSID have hosed filters. So will be seeing about getting a couple ArmSIDs for it. It's been ages since I messed with Soundtracker on the Amiga. Like 1991 being the last time. I had a friend that did demos, and he would get samples from my synth rack powered by an Atari 520ST. So his Music had DX7, D-50, Ensoniq EPS, and TR-808 sounds.

    Just as a personal preference I use Octamed V4 for MIDI. Octamed V5 and V6 used movable windows for everything and it just got too frustrating and confusing. I would go to click something and I would end up moving the window or sometimes even closing it.

    Hiya Maddi ☺️ Just catching up after a busy weekend and it’s great to be able to sit down with a coffee and watch the latest upload.
    Absolutely amazing what you can do with these Amiga’s and l am all for experimenting!
    I find it sad though that people can be so down on “you must use this software or that software” Why does that even matter?!
    You use what you like, when you like and that should be the end of it. I just don’t get why anyone would be so strung up on this 🙄
    Anyways, super interesting content as always and Mr Neelix must have worked in a cafe or bar in a previous life lol 😂
    Hope your all well and all my best to Rich and everyone there. Have a good one Maddi ☺️👍🏼

    I did the protracker serial link version (1.2F) a while back with a NULL cable, there's no master clock it appears, it's literally just plays/stops the other protracker, so yeah like this, you have to setup the same BPM. Also it was buggy af so pretty unusable.
    The only proper sync tracker for Amiga that actually works is OctaMED.

    • @xsm5525
      @xsm5525 Год назад +2

      I got a feeling the soundtracker pro 2 dude put it in as a thing-to-do but didn't actually complete it. the Sync clock that is.
      Maybe. I'll try it my self this afternoon.

    Is ground potential an issue? Are the Amigas connected to the same PSU? Having fried a CIA when messing with parnet I'd at least rule it out.

    • @MsMadLemon
      @MsMadLemon  Год назад

      They're connected to different PSUs but the PSUs share the same mains cable, though i dont think thats any different to connecting two different PSUs to the same mains power strip. I've actually wondered about the PSU and tried two different PSUs. Unfortunately It's the same result.

    • @FredrikRambris

      Your big custom PSU could maybe power both? At least measure.

    • @MsMadLemon

    I was hoping you were going to connect the Polyend Tracker to the Amiga. Too bad. I found out about trackers / mod files from Ahoy's excellent video, then when Polyend released the tracker picked it up. M8 also, and just ordered the Tracker Mini. Neat video, but honestly the Polyend has nothing to do with it.

    • @MsMadLemon
      @MsMadLemon  11 месяцев назад

      I did connect them together in my latest video on trackers.
      ruclips.net/video/tgiCnJUKhoM/видео.htmlsi=GYNVQb49lGc_oDeZ
      Polyend is a modern take on the tracker so I wouldn't say it has nothing to do with it... Its still a tracker.
