The practical affects makes sense from evolutionary standpoint.
The catnip creates a compound that repels insects.
That same compound is what the cat is reacting to; literally the cat rolls its body in the catnip, effectively putting the feline version of bug spray on its body.
Literally it tells other cats that: " *hey I am parasite free* "
Other cats: " *that is hot* "
This is bug spray to a cat an it smells good to them.
By the nature of a Feline, they love cleanliness.

I just bought Catnip to make tea, and it is exactly the same brand as your Cat likes. I checked and it does not appear to have anything added. I will get back to you how I felt after it. Thanks for the well made and fun video gorgeous lady.
I had a cup this afternoon. Cannot say I noticed much difference apart from the slightly sore head an hour after drinking it.

I have 3kgs of catnip extract powder so its super strong and i just put a few tablespoons in a pot of 1 cup of hot water and gave my dogs a tablespoon each, see how it goes will reply to my comment later

My neighbor absolutely hates cats actually fears them... With that we have quite a few strays around here. So I bought a couple bags of kitty dope and over the next few days i would pour it around her house doors and vechicle. Took a few days before all the kitties caught on. Anyways middle afternoon you hear this crazy lady outside screaming and yelling like the world was ending! She was chasing them with a broom stick and screaming words i've never heard come out of a woman's mouth... It twas glorious indeed.

1:30 wrong article to show when claiming some insects like catnip. the article shown discusses using catnip to repel insects. It seems you arrived at this article via a google search with terms, "catnip attractive to insects" which would return this article that you didn't read.

Just an fyi. In British English words ending in ~ham are pronounced like "~um" and not ~Ham, eg Birmingham Alabama is pronounced BermingHAM ..... but the English city of the same name, Birmingham is "Berming-um" and Sydenham is"Siddn-um" and Parham is "Parrum" etc
