The youngest babies will remain attached to the nipple 24/7 if allowed to. That can cause chapping and cracking of the nipples. Sometimes Mom needs a break and will hold the baby upside down. It's still safe against her belly but no longer has access to the nipples.
I realize I’m going to get hate mail over this, But……These baby? Monkeys are strong and fast enough to run after mom when she’s walking and at the same time jump on her back, they are strong enough to fight mom when she is trying to get them off her so she can have a few minutes to eat or tinkle. If they are strong enough to do that, they are strong enough to dig in the dirt for food.

I watch this happen all the time my sanctuary is free roam and how they wish to live if a new king comes to being and kills off newborns I just try to clear the body's sadly I let them live their full life as they would in the wild just minimal things I do supply food and fresh water unless it rains and try to heal newborns who have handicaps or become handicap I'll take them and put them in the handicap sanctuary where I'm 90% involved
It s very clear that the larger monkey was causing distress to Tanya maybe trying to kidnap her and Tanya s mother is lower on the totem pole so even the younger monkeys harass them.
All these comments talking about how these babies are strong enough to do this or that, so they are strong enough to forage or to take care of themselves. They have teeth, they need to be eating solids. They're too clingy, mama needs a break. They eat too much, cut them off. First of all, just because they are strong enough to pull on other monkeys and stop them, or hold themselves up, does not mean that they are strong enough to "dig in the dirt" for food. Not only do they do not know a thing about foraging til mama starts teaching them, but they aren't big enough to digest solids yet. Sure they may grab a nibble of mamas scraps here or there, but they usually just end up with it in their cheek pouches playing w it or spitting it out. They don't understand the concept of swallowing it because it is a solid! Secondly, just bc they have teeth doesn't mean they're ready for solids Macaques get teeth as early as 4 wks (there's been a handful of cases of babies getting their first tooth at 3 wks and 1 case where a baby was born with a tooth. They are just milk teeth and like human kids, they lose them. Third, they are BABIES, you have no idea the horrors these babies experience or witness at the hands of humans (VO's and tourists) all to get the "perfect shot for the perfect video) or the abuse they suffer at the hands of adolescent aged monkeys, grabbing and pulling on them. As soon as they're born, they go straight to mamas chest, they feel safe. Anything else is scary. Which is why they gradually gather the confidence to explore a little bit further from mama each time they walk around. To them, she is the first face they seen, not only is she their safe space, but also their source for food. So of course they're going to want to cling to mama. Lastly, everyone on here complaining about baby, actual BABY monkeys eating, nursing. If you ask me, the baby monkeys are just doing what they're meant to do, eat. Ya'll fussing and whining about these babies, yet you don't say a word about the mamas (even other monkeys) that literally migrate to the busiest part of the park and sit and beg the VO's and/or tourists for food. They're too lazy to forage. Then when they are given food, they feed their face until their cheek pouches are full, and keep eating until they start dry heaving til the throw up, they then eat what they just threw up and keep on going til they run out of food. So in all honesty, the babies eating is not what erks me, it's the overweight mamas who fill their cheeks and feed their face til they get sick and continue eating. The mamas that won't be stern enough to wean their over grown (1½ to almost 3 yr olds) or bite them and show them "No means No" but when it comes to them even glancing at food she's shoving in her face, You fuss and complain when see a video of a baby eating for 6 min out of a 10 min video. You don't know what they were doing for the other 23 hours and 50 min of the day. My point is, these babies are doing what they're put on this earth and meant to do.

I speak from experience, nipples become desensitized very quickly. I have no feeling left at all after breastfeeding 3 children, so, no. Stupid, flawed logic. Abuse is learned, sadly, but only an abused monkey becomes an abuser.

The camera shows mom just pushing the baby away alot in many of the shows and some are weaning their babies but actually mom has fed their baby enough food. The baby is really not hungry it just wants "snacks" & mom isn't having it

The title is absurd. Macaques have strict hierarchical systems and teach their young to respect the rules, as seen on video. Animals don’t torture. They just kill the baby.
Denying a newborn milk is torchure because of the horrible hunger pains the baby gets in its stomach. Milk doesn't stay in the stomach long so they have to nurse often for a couple of weeks and when it's able to walk and has a few front teeth on the top and bottom then it can start eating other small soft foods plus milk but a lot less milk.

Both of them barreled after his ass so fast, but it wasn't fast enough. In a 2 minute moment, Tanya was dead. I'll NEVER FORGET THAT SWEET BABY, just snatched like a theif in the night. I watch this happen all the time my sanctuary is free roam and how they wish to live if a new king comes to being and kills off newborns I just try to clear the body's sadly I let them live their full life as they would in the wild just minimal things I do supply food and fresh water unless it rains and try to heal newborns who have handicaps or become handicap I'll take them and put them in the handicap sanctuary where I'm 90% involved

All these comments talking about how these babies are strong enough to do this or that, so they are strong enough to forage or to take care of themselves. They have teeth, they need to be eating solids. They're too clingy, mama needs a break. They eat too much, cut them off. First of all, just because they are strong enough to pull on other monkeys and stop them, or hold themselves up, does not mean that they are strong enough to "dig in the dirt" for food. Not only do they do not know a thing about foraging til mama starts teaching them, but they aren't big enough to digest solids yet. Sure they may grab a nibble of mamas scraps here or there, but they usually just end up with it in their cheek pouches playing w it or spitting it out. They don't understand the concept of swallowing it because it is a solid! Secondly, just bc they have teeth doesn't mean they're ready for solids Macaques get teeth as early as 4 wks (there's been a handful of cases of babies getting their first tooth at 3 wks and 1 case where a baby was born with a tooth. They are just milk teeth and like human kids, they lose them. Third, they are BABIES, you have no idea the horrors these babies experience or witness at the hands of humans (VO's and tourists) all to get the "perfect shot for the perfect video) or the abuse they suffer at the hands of adolescent aged monkeys, grabbing and pulling on them. As soon as they're born, they go straight to mamas chest, they feel safe. Anything else is scary. Which is why they gradually gather the confidence to explore a little bit further from mama each time they walk around. To them, she is the first face they seen, not only is she their safe space, but also their source for food. So of course they're going to want to cling to mama. Lastly, everyone on here complaining about baby, actual BABY monkeys eating, nursing. If you ask me, the baby monkeys are just doing what they're meant to do, eat. Ya'll fussing and whining about these babies, yet you don't say a word about the mamas (even other monkeys) that literally migrate to the busiest part of the park and sit and beg the VO's and/or tourists for food. They're too lazy to forage. Then when they are given food, they feed their face until their cheek pouches are full, and keep eating until they start dry heaving til the throw up, they then eat what they just threw up and keep on going til they run out of food. So in all honesty, the babies eating is not what erks me, it's the overweight mamas who fill their cheeks and feed their face til they get sick and continue eating. The mamas that won't be stern enough to wean their over grown (1½ to almost 3 yr olds) or bite them and show them "No means No" but when it comes to them even glancing at food she's shoving in her face, You fuss and complain when see a video of a baby
eating for 6 min out of a 10 min video. You don't know what they were doing for the other 23 hours and 50 min of the day. My point is, these babies are doing what they're put on this earth and meant to do.

Denying a newborn milk is torchure because of the horrible hunger pains the baby gets in its stomach. Milk doesn't stay in the stomach long so they have to nurse often for a couple of weeks and when it's able to walk and has a few front teeth on the top and bottom then it can start eating other small soft foods plus milk but a lot less milk.
As soon as mean mom & rowdy kid saw Tanya getting fed there they both are! Then back to mean mom who refused Tanya but let rowdy monkey nurse. What an insult to Tanya.

The moms that decrease how much they nurse the milk will start to dry up. For sure mom will only produce a much smaller amount , she she doesnt nurse this baby properly.

Who is her other mom? It breaks my heart when this is done to infants, they are so small and fragile, I used to teach english in siem reap international school, and every sat and sunday was spent with these amazing monkeys, They look so much bigger on video, A newborn's hands clenched in a fist is about the side of my thimb nail, about a centimeter. The top of Tima's head came to my knee in height. we gave Tima some red bananas a guy was selling out of a tuk tuk, and her son Timo tried to eat from her and got the face with the wide open mouth and eyes
@@moonstars315 the other mom was the one who picked her up & nursed her. I was hoping that mom would become her mom but it didn't go that way. She's a very delicate baby.
@@maxinelowe6644 Yes, and now she's dead after only living less than 3 month's thanks to Santra who decoupled her. He snatched her from her mother's arm's as she was nursing because her mama was relaxed, and on her back while Anna was grooming her. Both of them barreled after his ass so fast, but it wasn't fast enough. In a 2 minute moment, Tanya was dead. I'll NEVER FORGET THAT SWEET BABY, just snatched like a theif in the night. Her mother was so very pitiful.
