      It's in the Constitution I don't believe in changing the Constitution it's been there for a reason. Now I do believe in sending the parents back. My mom came to America the correct way also had my brother and I after she became legal to be here in America. I have a cousin who has been here 30 an refuse to get himself legal I don't feel sorry for him if he gets sent back cause he can afford to hire a lawyer but refuses to spend those thousands of dollars. I'm a huge trump supporter but I don't believe in changing the Constitution.

    first of all the constitution never meant for it to cover Anchor babies. Both Parents should have legal visa's for the baby to be born a citizen. Two illegal immigrants should not be able to cross the border and then get to stay because they gave birth here. that is not Constitutional.

      I agree with you, I don’t think the 14th amendment was meant for this purpose. So illegal immigrants can enter our country and have children. Now if these parents decide to to leave the country and return to their native country with this child the USA is funding healthcare, benefits and social security for these kids is on the American taxpayers for this child. Don’t they get that these illegal immigrants check a free pass.I don’t think our forefathers had this in mind when this amendment was introduced

      Stop talking about immigrants like they’re subhuman. They came here to chase the American dream. They work for their stuff and they pay taxes. Taking away rights of Americans is insane.
      F MAGA. Imagine when your family came here and this happened. Than YOU wouldn’t be here. Barron was born before Melania was a citizen. So does he get the boot? I hate the Trump family. But that’s unfair for him.
      So that means 2A can be changed. It’s a slippery slope. If this happens I can see Trump taking away your guns. So you can’t fight against him.

    • @llupe217
      @llupe217 10 дней назад +1

      Birthright citizenship applies in all of north, central and South American countries… that’s not correct. You may do the same in Mexico. It’s not to protect the parents. Parents remain undocumented. Only the unborn child is protected so they do not have to suffer for actions of parents. All the immigrants that built this country in the past, had children that benefited from birthright citizenship (ex: our grandparents). Reading is fundamental.

      The point of the order was to disallow illegal immigrants, specifically, from granting citizenship to their children without being citizens themselves. Not all Americans. If you can't see how this is damaging to our country, and deliberate sabotage by Congress in the 1960s, there's little hope for us. This has nothing to do with the Constitution and everything to do with the Immigration Act of 1965. The Republicans were never truly anti immigration until now because they never challenged this blatantly subversive legislature. In most nations, they do not even grant automatic citizenship to children born to two citizens. It's time to stop being the world's charity fund and free housing project.

    Here's the full quote from Senator Jacob M. Howard during the Congressional debates on the 14th Amendment, specifically addressing the citizenship clause:
    "This amendment which I have offered is simply declaratory of what I regard as the law of the land already, that every person born within the limits of the United States, and subject to their jurisdiction, is by virtue of natural law and national law a citizen of the United States. ***This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons.*** It settles the great question of citizenship and removes all doubt as to what persons are or are not citizens of the United States. This has long been a great desideratum in the jurisprudence and legislation of this country."
    This quote comes from the Congressional Globe, 39th Congress, 1st Session, May 30, 1866, page 2890. Howard's statement indicates that he did not intend for the amendment to grant citizenship to children of foreign diplomats, but his reference to "foreigners, aliens in this context has been interpreted by some to suggest a broader exclusion. However, judicial interpretation, particularly in cases like United States v. Wong Kim Ark, has since clarified that "subject to the jurisdiction" was meant to apply more broadly than Howard's example might suggest, leading to the practice of birthright citizenship for most people born on U.S. soil.
