    Thank you very much. I've been having an extremely difficult time trying to decide on which battery powered DA I should go with. I was stuck between the Ryobi and the Kobalt. I was planning on going with the Ryobi as first choice and your review confirmed my choice. I did watch both of your reviews on these tools and were by far the best on this platform. Thanks again, happy detailing.

    Great review! I'm a Ryobi guy and found the Ryobi I happened to get had no power and liked to stall other than at highest setting. I did get the Kobalt during the Holiday sales (that's the only time to buy batteries for tool) so I was able to purchase the the 2-battery/fast charger kit for $143.00 and got the Kobalt polisher for free. It did come with the 3-pads. So somehow those pads got removed or your polisher was reconditioned. I do have the DeWalt polisher, and it rocks. Again, I bought it during the Holidays in 2020 (tool only) and it was cheaper to buy a DeWalt 4-peice tool kit that came with 4Amp and 8Amp batteries/basic charger than it was to buy just the 8Amp battery. Crazy. I found out today that the same company that builds the Kobalt 'Max' 24-volt tools also make the FLEX 'Grey power tools'. Again, great review. Thank you and the Kobalt pads are...well, as a PRO you already know.

    First let me say you have become my favorite auto detailer/ reviewer channel. However please note there is a substantial difference between "tactical" and "tactile".
    At this point you have been saying tactical for so long I'm guessing it will be hard to change, but just fyi going forward.

    • @imjoshv

      Am i really? In my head Tactile is what im saying when talking about feeling of the switching, plastics, etc... Im naturally a bit of a mumbler so it probably does sound like tactical... I appreciate the feedback. I think i also say "alrighty guys" way too much as well... But im working on it

    The kobalt has a brushless motor, the rattle is the rotor trying to match up the the magnets in the stator.

  • @KlockoFett
    @KlockoFett 2 года назад +2

    I'm betting that Kobalt was bought and returned, then put back on the shelf without being checked. Whoever bought and returned, "forgot" to put the pads back in the package. Wondering if they also knocked it around, thus the rattle.

    Great review, lots of details. Thanks!
    I saw one other review saying the Kobalt had the least vibration, which is definitely a feature that I like.
    But, I am going to be doing a lot of heavy duty correction. My 2008 Honda Element has a lot of scratches. And my 1995 RV has even more scratches. Need to do some fiberglass patching first…
    What I’m wondering is, can I use a random orbital sander for correction? And then use the Kobalt for later steps like polishing?
    I’m entirely an amateur here, and I know nothing at all about this. But I have three cars and a 35’ long RV to maintain, and a am fairly vibration sensitive. I expect to not do it all at once - battery life doesn’t really worry me. I will be taking breaks. Don’t expect to do an entire RV in a day :)
