I have one that I ordered for my late fiance after we watched an episode of bizarre food. I ordered it from a company in new Mexico, where he filmed the episode. It's the larger size and fairly heavy. I still use it. His favorite thing to cook was deer backstrap, cut into chunks, marinated in balsamic vinegar and maple syrup overnight. Then coat it in Kentucky Kernel seasoning. The other favorite is catfish, any fish really. And breaded cauliflower, mushrooms etc. All good
Hey Daniel, that's called a Turkish Sac. They've been used for centuries around middle east and western Asia. Sac Kavurma is the name of the meat dish they make on those. It's a great cooking pan especially on open fire. Thanks for sharing how your dad made one.
I made my steel wok from a piece of 1/8" inch sheet steel. I pounded it to shape while doing some hand forging. I used the top of an old 100 lb. propane tank for the form. It turned out pretty good. My cast iron woks are too heavy to carry around. The steel one is light enough and tough enough to throw in the back of my pickup when I'm headed out fishing or hunting for a few days.
Daniel thats just awesome great job.I think that would jump your views up doing a DIY on that wok.Plus it would be a great give away.God Bless my friend.
Looks as if I may be heading in to TSC or maybe Rural King! Get me a Disk and do me some Wok Cookin!!! Outstanding idea. Love the way you do so much with your kids. they grow up way too fast and then you just wish you had done more. Keep up the good work.
Thank you. I try my best to keep my kids involved in outdoor/farm type activities. I fear what the future holds for generations to come with less and less folks knowing how to take care of theirselves in their own.
I really like that!! I'm not much into working metal, though. If you manage to find a disk, figure out how much you would charge to make one. It's something I'd consider buying, if it fit my budget (or I'd just have to save for it.).
I quit making them because ACS was selling them for $38. BUT they are a little thinner. And it took me to long to get the paint off them. I figure if I ever male any more I will burn off the paint.
Great video but these things along with actual woks are rather cheap to buy as far as pans go. For around $30 for a nice carbon steel wok and slightly more for a cowboy wok. Make sense if you have the tools and stuff laying around though. If taken care of they last a life time. I recently saw a wok burner on Amazon with the a simple wok for $60 which is a steal if you ask me. In not time at all you can master Chinese and Mexican dishes with RUclips as your guide.
You are right about the prices, but many of the store bought pans are nearly as big and don't hold up quite as well in the high heat of outdoor cooking. But then again most people have no need for one this large.
Hi Daniel, I see it's been almost a year since you posted this, but I hope you'll answer a question for me. The pipe cover over the handle is a great idea. Do you think wood would work, or do they get too hot? Nice video, thanks.
What kind of metal these disks made of? Authentic woks are made from carbon steel and are used normally with high heat like an open flame so wouldn't they work on a campfire as well?
that's funny, past 2yrs we've sold more disc for that very reason than for plowing!! had a guy make on that is 28", don't know what he was cooking...probably everthing
Daniel I love your cooking wok!!! I too love how it cooked! Oh yes a give away would be awesome!!! You rock!!! Thank you sir for your service!

Using discs to make a wok is a great idea. Thanks for the video.
+AD Homesteading You're welcome

+Renee Davidson I'll see what I can do.
Hey love your tree with all your stuff hangin on it. awesome
Lol. That's actually a cedar log that I trimmed the limbs and stuck in the ground. It works pretty good at keeping things handy
Great idea to use those old plow wheels! Thanks for the info Daniel!
Your welcome
Very creative use of discs.
Great video, love All the Arms videos.
Thank you for your video's awesome !!!
Perfect giveaway idea!!! Thanks for showing us what you did - never would have guessed that was a disc!
+usakiwi5222 Yep, no problem.
Cool ! I like the woks , wish I had one.
Thats a really good idea on how to make your own wok. I am going to have to keep my eye out for a disc from an old farm implement lol
+Lumnah Acres Yep, It's super simple if you have a welder and an angle grinder.
That's good stuff right there, Daniel, you are the man! Hey, that would make another good welding project for Weston! 👍👍
+Addiegirl's Homestead Yes it would.
Daniel thats just awesome great job.I think that would jump your views up doing a DIY on that wok.Plus it would be a great give away.God Bless my friend.
+Deep South Homestead I think it would make a good give away for sure.

I was given a small one years ago... It works great, just needs a lid!

+Elizabeth Pendleton Thanks
Great video! I believe this is a natural match for a rocket stove too!
Yes it would be for sure. I need to build a good rocket stove sometime.
I would love to win one or get one. I like the one without the handle.

Very Nice
+Rustic By Nature Thanks

+RICHROOFER1 Thanks

Yeah it's hard to justify taking all the time to make one when you can buy one that cheap!
Shipping was $10 a piece IF I bought 10. So I had to get buyers for them before I ordered them. 160 pounds on a palate. I kept one.

I bought one from agry supply

Wood will probably work even better, the metal handles get pretty hot sometimes.
How deep is the disc
What kind of metal these disks made of? Authentic woks are made from carbon steel and are used normally with high heat like an open flame so wouldn't they work on a campfire as well?
I'm not positive on the kind of steel. I just know that it is a disk off of a tractor implement. Yes it should work great on an open flame too.
Normally the discs are made from L80 steel.
Do you think an old directTV dish would work?
No I don’t. It’s probably much to thin and coated in not telling what.
that's funny, past 2yrs we've sold more disc for that very reason than for plowing!! had a guy make on that is 28", don't know what he was cooking...probably everthing
+silentWayne That's funny, so do you just sell in store or online also? I guess I need to be looking to buy a few.
Where's Mason?...I'd to see him cook....OOPS!...sorry wrong channel
....
Cant stop laughing😂😂😂
young man
No soap is a Myth!!
Have you thought about making them and selling them? Your woks lol
