I’ve always heard people talk about this book and thought they were reading (no pun intended) too deeply into it. Guess they were right this whole time.
Goosebumps fan here! Been one since the 90's. The artworks are pretty cool with these books. This story here is very interesting and original with the plot and ending. This book here kind of reminds me of Calling All Creeps. Something about phone calls with unknown voices that can cause so much tension with someone.
This was cool to see find in the related videos. Two things regarding its unreprinted status: 1. They released all them in ebook in 2018 and this was one of them, so it's out there now. 2. Here's my theory, and it actually has nothing to do with the content. They keep the 2000's reprints going until 2007. Then in 2008 the Classic reprints started, the ones with new covers, as part of the relaunch. Those books were the only ones left, as they went out of order. Heck, Return of the Mummy (book 23) wasn't done until near the end. So i assume these were about to be reprinted but the plug was pulled on them before it could happen. Thus, the content didn't factor into things. But that's just my guess based on the circumstances.
Attack Of The Mutant was and still is my favorite. Probably because I was dorky, comic book obsessed tyke. Also the ending to Attack Of The Jack O' Lanterns is indefinitely creepy
werewolf skin in the dutch version was renamed to something wrong with the neighbors, Mabey the English version has a reprint but with the name altered
I remember reading this one, I think it was in 2004. I remember being really confused, and at the time didn't care much for it. But now I realize it's supposed to be more psychological than scary, like it's SUPPOSED to mess with your mind, make you keep guessing wtf is happening. I'm currently re-reading the series, and hope Amazon has this one and Monster Blood 4. Also my favorites are Legend Of The Lost Legend and Beware The Snowman, and really wish they'd been made into TV series like the others. Maybe in the reboot show I heard about...
I've wanted to do film adaptations of Goosebumps books if I ever become a filmmaker. I plan to write my versions on a fanfiction website as if it was a novel. My plans are to make any improvements to the original source material while also adding my own spin, make them enjoyable to adults as well while not forgetting its child audience and to give each story a different tone depending on the concepts (a bunch of examples I have are: The Haunted Mask would be a more serious horror film, Attack of the Jack-O-Lanterns would be a straight up comedy, How I Learned to Fly would be a down to earth fantasy drama, Invasion of the Body Squeezers would be a Monster Squad-esque horror comedy, Don't Go To Sleep would be a sci-fi, action, psychological thriller, Deep Trouble 1 and 2 would be adventure movies similar to the Brendan Fraser Mummy trilogy). If I was to ever do an adaption of I Live in Your Basement justice, I would have to make it R rated not PG-13 like my other ideas for adaptations. Another advantage to making I Live in Your Basement specifically for mature audiences is that I'll have more creative freedom to do even more messed up imagery that would be too gruesome for children or a PG-13 audience. I Live in Your Basement and How I Learned to Fly are my two big examples of underrated books in the Goosebumps franchise that are completely different from the rest of the franchise and are slightly more mature.
i used to always sit in the main hang out room of my prectical highschool during recess reading ider goosebumps or the monsters encyclopedia, namely Frankenstein and Dracula
Would love to see this Goosebumps book get an episode adaptation but with the really long tongue pile and implied brain surgery adapted out of the episode version because that is a little too extreme and nasty.
I think since it came after Monster Blood 4 and the blob thing looked like the monster blood monster, a lot of kids might not have bought it. Monster Blood 4, from what I hear, was terrible and this new book may have been a reminder of how terrible the book that came before was
Tbh most goosebumps stories don’t hold up for me, it’s too childish and bratty which is why I prefer the scary stories to tell in the dark trilogy but those few diamonds in the rough make it worth it to reread them now and again
Hey, folks! Thanks for checking out the video! Guess what? The channel has a discord server! Feel free to stop on by! (discord.gg/Tp3Vmuk)

Finally a fellow I live in your basement enjoyer
I'll be honest, the only reason I remembered this is because of CR(an old Channel Awesome reviewer) had it as number 15 in his Goosebumps countdown.
A library near me actually has this book. I remember reading it in 5th grade and liking it. My favorite Goosebumps book is The Girl Who Cried Monster.

Read this one in school. Scared the crap outta me. Now I'm older it's still kinda creepy and I love it still.
Oh, so you’re the guy who did that audiobook for I Live In Your Basement I randomly stumbled upon last year. That was a good video BTW.
I’m all for that other Goosebumps vid. You have no idea how bad I want it.
Yes!!! I loved this book! I was as confused as a kid could be, but still loved it!

This October seems to be all horror themed unlike the last two. If this is how things are going to be now, I’m all for it!

The book that really stuck out to me was the one where the kid turns into ink or whatever at the end. It scared the hell out of me as a kid

My favorite is The Haunted Mask
Jk! The Haunted School
i used to always sit in the main hang out room of my prectical highschool during recess reading ider goosebumps or the monsters encyclopedia, namely Frankenstein and Dracula
Well, now I know what I’ve got to read today.
goosebumps my love, well in the Netherlands they renamed them chicken skin but it means the same

How'd you know?
My mom never let me read these as a kid
