Interesting to see soldering on stainless... good to watch. As usual you make stuff look easy. Here's to gravy jobs! Hope the incoming rain does not make for a problem - looks rather excessive. Take care Terry.
Try adding a little vinegar to your pot for cleaning the finished product. Its a mild acid, then go to a solution of baking soda and water to neutralize. Then just a plain water rinse
@@txsviking We would braze the cutters in and weld/braze a tungsten carbide overlay on the rest of the bit. Very interesting work, and very hot. We had to pre-heat them to 1000F before brazing so we could actually braze and not immediately freeze the solder.
Very nice setup. I like how you made your workspace clean and productive, the turntable clamp is just the best idea. So I take it stainless steel wont scale with carbon from the heat?
I did not watch each one so may have missed an explanation but am just a wee bit curious what these pipe fittings are used for? I assume the pipes remaining open serve a purpose otherwise a solid rod could have been used.
it's right at 90 here in MO. today too, I'm surprised someone hasn't said "you'er gonna blow yourself up using that lighter" lol, well I guess that would be possible if you helt the torch on the lighter for a while.
We've been seeing some screwy weather lately cold with high humidity, sunny and cold, cold rain. O-well New England. So you've been around a while in the welding field. Are you running a mix or just a gas?
Good job....no not good but great....that was to my eye a great silver solder job.....but for me when you stated the jobs you did I would not like the repetitious jobs....not my bag but hey....if it pays good one does it and runs with the money....CHEERS
@@txsviking Thank you, guess that's why a customer didn't jump at a bid for 32 each for mine. Basically, the same thing but my project has lead in it and some detailed TIG welding. They went for the 23 each though and they supply the acetylene and 02.
Fascinating as always! Also it was great to hear your stories along the way.
Thanks Chris.
Skol!! thanks for the video, this helps me in making oil lines for motorcycle with stainless and banjo fittings.
Glad to help!

Thanks Chris. Yeah, the rain is mostly south of us but still coming our way :/
Summer is hanging on here in TN too! We had 97° yesterday. Glad to see you and hear you again Terry.
We are almost at flood stage today :/ The rain came and just won't stop again.
@@txsviking Send it up our way, we haven't had any rain in nearly 2 months. My well keeps going below pump access.
Keep up the good work all the best thanks for sharing
Thank you for the nice comment.
@@txsviking your most welcome 😊
A man of many talents. Good work 👍
Thanks buddy.
Hey good to see ya I’ve been busy doing nonsense over the summer anyhow nice work 👍🏻
Thank you sir.
Great work 👍
Thank you.

Nice video. I used to do silver brazing for a oil field drill bit manufacturer, in Houston area. We used 505 silver solder. Expensive stuff.
Those drill bits take a licking.

@@crashbandit3018 Did you work for Baker-Hughes?
@@txsvikingNo it was a smaller competitor "Caprock Oil Tools" in Pearland, tx

good job Terry, Although I have to admit seeing those tubes get red hot without a purge makes me cringe 😀
No scale, no problem :-)
It has been hot here. Great job
Thanks Mike.

Not when it's protected with flux. Thanks.
Another great work Sir! Would a MAAP torch work for this application?
I think so. I never used one.
Have a good one, 75 here today
I would need a sweater. :-)

They are used in some kind of gas analyzing instruments.Yes they are tubes.

I Know. I always used a Bic to light the torch. No problems yet.
Is the turntable vise something home made? Or purchased? Looks real handy
I made it.

For welding just argon. I use oxy/act for solder work.
I remember those parts from before. What brand torch set do you use?
Victer. Its popular here like Harris is up north.

Thanks Terry, are you a veteran?
No. I was called up as the draft was ended and was lucky to just miss the physical :-)
Is Map gas hotter than oxy/ace?
I'm not sure, I never used it.
no, it is not hotter oxy/ace rules
Oxy/ace is 7000 deg f, not sure, but map gas is less than 2000.
Solder? Or braze'n?
Silver solder.
