so glad Bri is the kind of mom who let's Art be a dad...I've learned that dad's participate when mom's let go and let dad be a dad his way...also think of it this way...God forbid something happens to mommy sickness or what have you, dad needs hands on experience! take it from a mom who's had a spine injury that altered my physical abilities, and has needed daddy's help more than ever
I lived in Brooklyn New York my whole life, but seeing how happy your family is I'm ready to pack my family up and buy a farm god bless u and your family keep up the great work
Dads have their own ways of doing things with kids than mom does! I always kept my opinions to myself and he was more likely to take the kids and gave me a break!!Art is a terrific daddy and I say KUDOS to any dad that tries without making excuses.
Playing in the rain is fun, no matter how old you are. We spent an hour in the pouring down rain last night (chasing chicks and trying to put them to bed). It was fun, memories were made and made everybody hungry for dinner! :)
Bri -have an amazing time with the sister/women !Relax and ENJOY!!! Dad you are wonderful... Look at those smiles... warm rain storms... some of my favorite memories on our little ranch! Sweet, sweet video --- all of you
I'm an engineering student living in Toronto city, but I've always wanted to spend my adult life living in a farm. My friends always laugh at me for wanting the opposite of what I have. My grandparents have a farm where I spent my summer growing up and I fell in love with it. If only they can see how happy this kind of life is. Thanks for sharing.
Happy Mom's Day Bri! Thank you Grace for taking over and give your mom a break. What a great young lady😊.! Art I think now with all the technology it's possible to see a woman's day. It was good you noticed a day without Bri. She'll fell appreciated when she sees the video😉 Love ❤️ and Peace ✌🏼 to you all!!
Hello Art , I thought that I might mention about reading a book called Malabar Farm. It is about rejuvenating a played out farm in Ohio. The owner did it by planting and growing alfalfa. He postulated that farmers are really indirect miners ! That is bringing minerals up from underground to the surface . It seems that alfalfa will send roots down as far as 12-15 feet . He thought the alfalfa was even bringing up minerals from an underground gravel bed ! Alfalfa is a legume and cut and come again. Just a thought for you to tuck away !
:) ya made me smile this morning...I still remember my days playing in the thunderstorms. Art it always amazes me that you & Bri pull off any videos with a house full of little power plants...so you all are so amazing.
Have been enjoying your videos for a few weeks now. Keep up the good work! Your kids are such great helpers! You mentioned Glass Gem Corn! I believe it is a strain of popping corn, but of course you could also grind it for flour. I grew it two different years. First year produced multi-colored ears, which are smaller than other types of flour or popping corn. I selected blue kernels from those ears and grew them out, ending up with predominately blue ears of corn. This might be a fun project for the kids. Let each child grow a small patch of corn using just one kernel color. My corn produced black, white, pink, red, green and blue kernels.
You will do a great job with the chores Grace, especially milking the goats. Art, I noticed the filter you used when straining the goat milk. Could you tell me where I can purchase one? We have a hand held fine mesh filter, but I really like yours where you don't need to hold and pour at the same time. As always, I enjoy watching your sweet family. I hope mom has a wonderful time with friends on Mother's Day weekend. Art, you are a fabulous dad! Bri and the children are so blessed to have you.
Brings me back to singing in the rain with my nana! Love it! I'm new to your channel and hope you do continue posting. You're very inspiring and so full of knowledge. I learn something new and worth while from every video!
OK this might be one of my favourite family moments so far! The thunderstorm frolicking and that music to go along with it just warmed the heart! :) cheers art!
I Think it was very funny how stealthy Grace was pulling that bag of corn seeds over to her and slowly putting her hand in before the camera cut lol sweet kids
Prompted beautiful memories but I had to laugh at the difference in child care.. I don't think Mom would've let the children stay in their wet clothes at supper. 😄
Glass Gem Corn! So beautiful with such a wonderful story behind it. Have you read Newman Turner's books on pasture species? My favorite is Fertility Pastures, but then most of the others are about cattle, and I don't raise cattle. Have you read Gaia's Garden bit on pastures?
Your kids are so Sweet . Do they prefer wearing dresses instead of pants . They are learning more about life than any school could teach . Love ur channel. Deb ark
Hello from Ontario, Canada!! This comment is not about this video but I watched one recently that I saw 2 of your dogs. They are beautiful! The thing I noticed though, was the loss of hair around their eyes. The only reason I actually noticed it is because one of my dogs had it. I am not sure if you are aware but it is a sign of an allergy. Something that they are eating is causing an allergic reaction. With our youngest dog, she is seems to only get that reaction from dog food or biscuits that have any form of food colouring in them. If we stick to dog food (and it is not a big brand name, it is actually no name, which i don't think you have in the US) and only give the plain variety of milk bones for treats, she gets all the hair back around her eyes. I just thought I would let you know. I love your videos and truly wish that I could have raised my kids the way you are. I am only now living in the country, with 3 beautiful dogs and in just a few weeks, we will be getting our first chickens!! Take care and much love to all of you!!
Art, the corn you got is it heirloom corn, or is it a hybrid. I live in N. C. and I can't seen to find heirloom corn here. I would be willing to travel where you got yours if need be. Shirley
The challenge in staggered plantings is that both are long season varieties. We will stagger, then see when they are actually actively pollinating. May or may not save see this year. We might just pick our fav and grow only one next year and save them next year.
I remember beeing the girlz size and loving to play in the rain. I thought it was fun to take summer rain baths, soap included. Of course i was in my swimsuit and NOT naked but it was fun all the same.
Thank you ART and BRI for sharing your video homestead chicken farmer garden 🐔🐓🐥🐈🐕🐖🐐🌱🐄🎥👍👍👍

It's so great to see kids enjoy the simplest things like playing in the rain. I wish I was a kid again. :)
I lived in Brooklyn New York my whole life, but seeing how happy your family is I'm ready to pack my family up and buy a farm god bless u and your family keep up the great work

I let my kids play in the rain also ! There is nothing as joyous as a bunch of kids in a summer rain!
I can only imagine Bri's frustration with her multi-tasking. You all do a wonderful job!
how wonderful to see kids playin in the rain an not in front of the tv game console.

This was a beautiful and peaceful video. Your children are so sweet and such good helpers.🐐😄
Thumbs up to you. The children are happy and that warms my heart. Farm life is the best.
Adorable, she looks just like her mom. Good job mom. 👍
The kids are so cute. You really get to truly see what Moms go thru when You have to do it . You will do fine.
It was so nice seeing them play in the rain, it reminded me of my childhood

I still enjoy being out in a soft rain....no thunder and lighting though!
Plant the Hickory King corn first, wait 2 weeks and then plant the Glass gem corn. No danger of crossing.
So far, so good.
I have a handful of the gem corn seeds. I haven't planted them yet. Next year, That's when I'll plant them.
I bought a pound. Excited.
we truly miss appreciate our companions when they are GONE!
Agreed. She is great. -A
Good luck, Art.

The fence will be up before the corn.

When do you think you'll start stringing the fences? :)
Doesn't Orchard grass need to be plugged and not sown? That's the way I've always been told
Not sure.
Do you leave enough milk for the lamb?
when is the cow coming?
Mr Mom ☺️
Big family home stead is looking for a new home Please let them know if u know of a place
I'm not sure I've ever seen happier kids. Nice job. You should start a parenting college. The homestead is just a means to an end.
Art, Just reminded me of how much I hate child gates!!!!!
haha! I honestly say almost every day , " That gate has changed my life!" Seriously, Brighton is an acrobat!
won't those corns cross pollinate?

Time to put the girls' hair in pigtails!
first to comment how are the eggs coming on
Art- I noticed you didn't say, 'I love you' back to Bri when she kissed you goodbye... :(
I think he was perhaps a bit sad that she was going. We all know he cherishes her.
I think they should be wearing gloves but I love the video
