This is my favorite bmw, my grandma had this car, when she passed away it sat for 15 years, it’s currently my daily driver, I fixed it up and fixed some cosmetic issues and it still looks good today.
@@pablonator3000able E39 M5 wasn’t technologically impressive. It was an old school BMW far more related to E38 (previous generation 7-series) in technology. E65 7-series was the beginning of new era for BMW. Definitely the most advanced and modern BMW of its time.
@@mikojarvinen6273 I can agree with that aspect, I was leaning towards the tuning and performance part of the E39. The 745 was elegant and luxurious when I first seen it on the streets, didn't know it was techy.
Owned this for many years. I really loved it. These are amazing cars that can hold up with modern vehicles fairly well - you just don’t get Bluetooth or a backup camera, but everything else from cooled seats to night vision to adaptive cruise control was all available for these cars! I’m sure this iDrive _was truly_ difficult for the older people who bought this car, but for anyone millennial like myself or a late gen-X, this iDrive was/is extremely easy to get used to, especially since this is the norm in new cars today. They also showed a pretty much base model interior. Most were equipped with 22 way comfort seats and cooling + massage.
@@ic1815 These cars did come with bluetooth and backup camera. Mine has bluetooth but not the reverse camera. Plenty of people retrofit these items onto the pre facelift e65. Mine is an 07
@@ic1815 My car has bluetooth bud...It's on all the LCI models, calls/voice control only. If you didn't have it it must have been a pre LCI car, right?
Very controversial design by Chris Bangle when it came out. Ahead of its time for sure, plagued with issues, still cool though. Wouldnt mind having one to drive everyone blue moon
Actually designed by current design chief, this outsold Mercedes for 1st time, made BMW #1 global premium & have since doubled volume in neu segments & made Spartanburg largest American exporter of vehicles on X crossovers.
“On Speed Channel” - was there market specific episodes?! I do not recall him saying that before. Were these multiple takes and they’d use certain takes for certain markets lmao?!
2nd best 7 series design in my opinion, the first is the G11/12, 7 series (2015ish)I would say. I love the W211 such a great design still looks great today but the W212 does something for me
I feel the opposite. Every generation besides this one has been an absolute hit in my book. And the latest one. This does look better than the latest though. Better value on the used market too
I dealt with too many of these in the repair world. These cars were under-built and toooooooo many things leaked and failed. The owners of these were generally broke and awful too.
The first ugly bmw, but 20years later isnt so much compare it to the new 7 series. First i drive, so much ahead of its time, many people dislike that...now days admire and enjoy the tablets on 4 wheels...i mean new cars.
& 1st time BMW outsold Mercedes en route to becoming #1 global premium, guess driver$ don't buy German V8 luxury sedans for 0-60 & Model S beats your Mercedes.

Beautiful cars, innovation not always appreciated by the (m)asses, still true today.
The technology in this was lightyears ahead of its time
And light-years from reliable
How so the E39 M5 had also released around the same time and much more impressive.

E39 M5 was and remains PEAK BMW. Everything else afterwards just strayed too far away from its winning formula.

I bet you sold the car due to its many problems and repairs cost.

Amazing car bought an 03 745i last year for $2459 absolute bargain nothing has broken yet!!
Good cars, replace the alternator bracket and valve cover gaskets and you’ll have a daily driver. Check your trans fluid.
6.2 seconds is fast especially for a big old boy. The back is okay but the front end looks so classy.
20 years on Lexus LS 500 has Bangle butt (which he didn't actually design).
I love the looks of this car.
Man e65 is amazing! I love 730d 160kw pre facelift. Damn thing looks moder to this day, especially that back in the controversial back.
It's still better than the new I7 and 7 series lol.
The G70 makes the E65 look beautiful. 😂
No comparison, E65 reviled when new & i7 3 ton stretch limo.
Found these in every hood....after 4 years of course
This on chrome rims = Ultimate drug dealer car
DAMN STRAIGHT...
An early 2000s drug dealer yes.
Bentley Bengayta.

Mercedes-Benz Did the same thing with the Hooded Dash panel on the 2005 S-Class W221 Model.
Hands down best looking 7 ever. Words from a W211 owner.

by 2024 standards it looks beautiful

Guess you never saw Isetta & iDrive 10 full windshield HUD, no more tablet.
Haven’t seen one in years. They all broke. And I’m in nyc
Manhattan only use Lincoln Town Car airport limos. There were never a lot of 745i but they're still available.
The car was very impressive in regard to the technology. However, it was the most unreliable vehicle ever made.
The M5 that came out 2 years later is up there too
German engineering must be maintained & Hyundai have million$ more do not garage factory 🔥 hazard recalls, nowadays Toyota buy Supra from BMW.
This ruined bmw for me. I loved the 01 740il

Compared to old BMWs it's very ugly. But then again compared to the horrendous designs BMW put out now, it looks beautiful. LOL.
BMW design why their sales just keep increasing & they have 20X more trolls>buyer$ (both record #s).

The best looking 7 series is either the previous generation or the OG model. These are ugly as sin and had the PoS iDrive.
