I love the part where he's slowly walking toward her and moving chairs out of the way while she's backing away and trying to put more chairs between them lol.
Tennant and Tate act up a storm, and the audience eats it up. Benedick and Beatrice are two of Shakespeare's most entertaining characters, and is arguably the first rom-com.
They just always need to act together. Always. Like if a casting director is like "I want David Tennant to be in this!" or "I want Catherine Tate to be in this!" then they have to be okay with casting the other as well. A salt and pepper shaker set, that's what they are.
I love that Shakespeare has the man who has spent the bulk of the play so far talking about how untrue and fickle women are and that they cannot ever be trusted not to cheat also be the one who believes that Hero is innocent, even her father isn't sure.
Oh thats gold. Beatrice doesn't really act like that in the original but Tate's take on it is so hilarious I'm sure good old William would heartily approve. 😂😂😂
Rachel Borowyckyj I love that she’s not whip thin and she’s the average women’s size. She’s got the big hips and the big bust and it looks like me and means I can be like her
Something alien is happening in the theatre, first they went in as part of the crew, but the actors for Benedick and Beatrice went alienly missing and the director saw Doctor and Donna argue and in panic put them into the play. They didn't come up with a good enough excuse for not doing that
I've never seen a stage version of this play, only the film by Branagh. Honestly the comedic vibes this has is awesome. Knowing them from Who I can't see them romantically tho😂
Okay while this isn't my favorite version (I think Tennant does a great job though and Tate isn't a bad actress, I just...this version just isn't my favorite) this scene is really cute the way they do it. The chairs stuff makes me smile.
Where do I have to go to buy this? I saw this show on RUclips, and the show was as brilliant as any Shakespearean show can be performed. Thing is, I can’t find it again. So where can I go to buy this so that I might watch it again?
A good performance. However, what still remains far and away the best version of this scene I have ever seen is the one by Robert Lindsay and Cherie Lunghi in the 1984 BBC television production of the play (part of the complete works of Shakespeare they did for television back in the 1980s). Lunghi REALLY captures the outrage of Beatrice at her cousin's slander, and makes you truly believe she wants Claudio dead because of it, and Lindsay believably goes through shock at realizing this (and initial refusal to kill his friend), through being persuaded that Claudio has done a great wrong, and finally believing that what Beatrice is asking for is actually somewhat just (given the standards of the time) and agreeing to it. This version is more comedic, and yes, the play is a comedy. But I really think Lindsay and Lunghi nailed that scene, because it is a pretty grim moment in the story.
Einstein the first four to five episodes of this particular play I've already figured out the David tens character Benedict obviously in love with Beatrice play by Catherine Tate not Sherlock Holmes or a Columbo but I sure as hell am not stupid I'm also not Allergy i Hardy again and not stupid
I don't have to be Sherlock Holmes I don't have to be Shakespeare I don't even have to be ldi Hardy to figure this out it's not that hard I figured this out in the First Act that they were in love with each other the more they denied it the more they protest that they weren't the more I knew they were if I were to take the two of them into an interrogation room I would have had this thing locked down in 5 seconds RUclips like I'm sorry but you two cannot pull this girl I've watched enough soap operas to know the difference and this is classic I'm in love with this girl come on piotrus you're in love with Bandit and he's in love with you I figured this out the First Act come on God. I still got you a lot better than they have to blow me come on really come on seriously you two are acting like two teenagers at school prom they couldn't wait to kiss each other because kissing first comes love then comes marriage then comes better than a baby carrots not that hard come on guys I'm not stupid
Yeah that's not her to tell such strange at all I've already figured that out in that one that he was in love with her every time he said he's not the man protest it too much that's really means he's lying to himself and to everybody else in short that's bull crap
Well David turned I already figured that one out didn't take that long to figure that without that was easy and act one scene one episode one she usually you two are going out you might as well have been making out on the back of a car all that BS about how you two don't love each other was just that BS intergalactic cosmic crap in short I already figured that out I'm not dumb I don't have to be clever or cute to figure that out
I love the part where he's slowly walking toward her and moving chairs out of the way while she's backing away and trying to put more chairs between them lol.

Ikr, they’re brilliant together
they should get matt smith and jenna coleman
Even though Karen Gillian is my favorite companion, I thought Tennant and Tate were the best duo. Chemistry you can’t teach.
@@nicholaswm4742 And they are both BRILLIANT actors

The staging of that scene was amazing, the chair moving felt so completely natural to the characters.
I was fanning myself, the way he was stalking towards her moving the chairs🥵
@@hothotheat3000 Same!! And then the change of pace when she uses them to make a wall. It went from sexy to all to human to funny in a minute.
I replayed it like 4 times! 😂 🥵
I love how when she starts screaming he sounds like he’s genuinely laughing
Oh thats gold. Beatrice doesn't really act like that in the original but Tate's take on it is so hilarious I'm sure good old William would heartily approve. 😂😂😂
I did this scene in high school with a friend and now I'm realizing we had no idea the potential this had to be comedic
That's the problem with the average high school literature education, it assumes that nothing of value can be anything but stoic and stollid.
Yeah it's meant to be a comedy but I swear the film version I saw was rarely funny
This... this is such mood. Not a mood I’ve felt recently but still. A mood.
IKRRR
I love this comment.
Their chemistry...is unmatched
"I confess nothing!!" Hahahaha and then she's moving the chairs hahaha.
She protesteth too much, Lady DaVinci.
These two need to be in everything.
Love, love, LOVE this part! David and Catherine are BRILLIANT in this production
I LOVE THIS CATHERINE AND DAVID ARE THE BEST!!!
2:16 Why is her reaction mine?
These two work so *well* off of each other I just... yes.
david tennant: hi
me: 2:16
I lover David Tennant, however, Catherine Tate's figure in that dress is amazing.
Heck yeah!
Rachel Borowyckyj I love that she’s not whip thin and she’s the average women’s size. She’s got the big hips and the big bust and it looks like me and means I can be like her
She makes that dress gorgeous. Flaunt it !
Hobbs - always make ordinary women look and feel gorgeous (for a price, even second hand/used/preloved/worn once etc. on eBay) worth every penny.
She’s gorgeous! A funny ginger with that figure, what’s not to love?
Someday, I wish someone will look at me like David looked at Catherine at 1:53
Especially if it’s a man like David Tennant 😍
02:15 I would have same reaction if David Tennant told me that he loves me.
SAME, GURL, SAME!
Probably my reaction if he said anything to me. My brain has been a bit like that since he came back to Doctor Who.
@@Charliefarley170287 mine too. N I occasionally make the monkey sounds like Catherine.
I love David Tennant so much! He did such a wonderful job as Benedick, that this play has easily become my top favorite of Shakespeare's plays
Wonderful stuff! Actors like this keep Shakespeare alive as though he had never died! (Always the DoctorDonna.)
Good lord, she's gorgeous! 🥰
I couldn't watch this without thinking "What if this is actually Donna Noble and The Doctor playing a huge elaborate prank on everyone!?"
Or for the Doctor/Donna shippers what if it wasn’t a prank?
Something alien is happening in the theatre, first they went in as part of the crew, but the actors for Benedick and Beatrice went alienly missing and the director saw Doctor and Donna argue and in panic put them into the play. They didn't come up with a good enough excuse for not doing that
I have seen perfection
God I need Tennant's Benedick 😭 that chair pulling scene is AMAZING 🥰
This is the best production of this play and I will fight anyone who says otherwise.
2:16 what in lords name demon possesses the?

Best delivery EVER!!
Finally! The Dr. and Donna ship we asked for, albeit noncanon
The real question is why they are not remaking every katherine Hepburn/ Spencer Tracy movie.
"I love thee!"
*wheezes*
Is it bad that I see David Tennat and Catherine Tate as an adorable couple?
Nope! I ship Tatennant
Noooooooooo! She’s too much woman for him. He can’t handle that!
Yes! David needs a women who brings out this level of manic humour every day. I believe I could have a decent go at that job too.
Hahhahha they have Wonderful chemistry together! Im so glad they have lots of acting projects together!
Dr. Who, comedy skits, Shakespeare. Is there anything David Tennant and Catherine Tate do together that isn't great?
Okay while this isn't my favorite version (I think Tennant does a great job though and Tate isn't a bad actress, I just...this version just isn't my favorite) this scene is really cute the way they do it. The chairs stuff makes me smile.
what is your favorite version?
I can't imagine Scrooge and Magica confessing each other... Goldie O'Gilt will be so pissed!!!
Catherine looks so good here!
EASILY my favorite scene. These two nail it.
I love this and them so much
Love it.
HAHAHA these two are always wonderful together :)
Where did the full play go? There was a full version... It's been a decade...why can't we have it on RUclips?
It's not that strange! xD
Nandhini Srinivasan isn’t it “is not that strange?”
@@rachelsewell7026 It is! He’s meant to be asking a question there but I can see how it can be misheard.
they reallly should do more together
Ha! I have the same aversion to romantic love.
Beautiful dorks in love!
NEED TO WATCH THE FULL PLAY
Ahhhhh I love this
I'll have to watch this a couple more times before I see anything but the Doctor and Donna playing around.
Where do I have to go to buy this? I saw this show on RUclips, and the show was as brilliant as any Shakespearean show can be performed. Thing is, I can’t find it again. So where can I go to buy this so that I might watch it again?
David Tennant and Catherine Tate being material guurls (or something like that, I watched it here yesterday)
Holy shit, this is amazing.
RUclips recommended this and it took a solid 2 minutes to realise this wasn’t Doctor Who
He just wants a "mate" ! XD
Well, you ain’t mating with me, sunshine!
How do we see this whole production? It must be spectacular!!
Search for “David Tennant and Catherine Tate being material girls”. It’s the whole play with a cheeky title to avoid copyright strikes.
@@vikitty604 Thank you thank you thank you!
She is wearing the HELL out of that dress.
okay who's there because of ineffable husbands version ?
which one!!!!!
Dude I can’t find it! What’s the name of the video?
I did not know it was a thing, where??! :D
Whaaaaa where..?
NAME OF THE VIDEO. NOW.

Why can't I purchase this!? Try to but would not let me. 😭😭😭😭😭😭
jenabug did you go to digital theater
You can't buy individual plays anymore. They switched to a monthly subscription service.
truediva18 Yep, I subscribed and watch at least once daily. I’ve watched a few other versions but this my favorite.
YEEEE
It's like DuckTales meets Shakespeare - scrooge and magica do Shakespeare
Is this an alternative timeline between the Doctor and Donna?

He is such a much better actor than she is. She's okay, but her acting appears so wooden, so artificial alongside his.
