    When gasoline spills on the floor starter...then you get heated seats as well!

    This is awesome. Makes me want to get my 1942 GWP script tub up and running again. Such great vechicles. I always loved how it truly is a combination of tractor/vehicle. Being a guy raised in a rural setting, both always appealed to me. Mine was built in the Richmond CA. ford plant and served in the pacific theatre. It went through a Depot rebuild in Japan then served in Korea before being shipped back home and living in Arizona for most of its life. Thank you for this. (little known fact Henry Ford is to thank for the iconic jeep stamped steel grill vs the willys slat grill.)

    if you included a policeman, a construction worker and biker you would have had The Village People too ;)

    WW2 history buff as well. Loved N.Z. war memorials in all the town's. I remember one in Rotorua for the locals who died in the defense of Crete. Hitler never used an airborne assault after that.

    I love power, performance, technology, but I also really love old stuff like this that's just full of history. You probably won't get many views on this one Nick because it's not a 720s or a Gt2 RS but awesome vid 👍🏼

    The comparable vehicle of that era although slightly later built and better made was the Land Rover series 1, which was totally inspired by the Willys as the director of Rover cars (Wilks) owned a Willys on his farm in Wales UK and wanted to replicate it,.
    He needed to rescue Rover Cars from finncial collapse with a quick fix model, that could made in austere Britain after the second world war and there was a lot of aluminium and green paint

    Always heard the word jeep came from the fact the vehicle was for general purpose (GP) , ergo the name Jeep. True or not true?

    • @kirk2767
      @kirk2767 5 лет назад

      Nah, the "G", I'm pretty sure, stands for "Government." The "P" is Ford's designation for the vehicle based on wheel length. I'm sure I'm at least half-wrong, but I do know GP does not stand for "general purpose".
