Probably my favourite scene of the entire series... near perfection, right down to her almost saying "f*cking office" lmao. Only Samantha's character had the charisma, humour and pure generosity of spirit to make your heart really swell, not to mention carry a cancer storyline the way she did. I think SJP knew Kim carried the show, and why [SJP] knew it was over when Catrall refused to do SATC 3. (Part if me thinks they wanted to undo the memory of the horror of second movie -such a terrible way to end the franchise). But you can't always get what you want. But Kim Catrall's depiction of Samantha will always be stuff of legend and if anyone needs to reminding why that show was so loved need look no further than this scene ...
25 years ago, we all wanted to be Carries, nowdays after a lot of growing pains and heartbreaks we understand, value and celebrate Miranda and Samantha, I loved watching "And Just Like That", it made me feel in 1998 again, for a bit, but.... I couldnt help but wonder, has Carrie ever been this toxic? Was this the role model I was dying to follow 25 years ago? Have I outgrown this egocentric behaviour? Or will I forever be the Carrie type? And it is oh so clear why the show worked in the first place: it had balance, Samantha and Miranda had to counterbalance Carrie, Charlotte was pretty much just in the middle looking pretty (and being low key racist), Samantha was everything we value today: a strong independent loud passion-driven woman. Miranda has always been the rock of the group, no matter what life send her way, she was the most stable, centered person and she gave stability to the other women and her husband, we all need a Miranda in our lives.
@poisonmoon123 they don’t want Kim in the show after her public accosting of SJP. No one knows what went on behind the scenes, but what Kim did was unprofessional. I LOVE her character, but I lost a bit of respect for Kim at that point.
@poisonmoon123 what seems to be is that you are making a lot of unproven assumptions based on celebrity gossip columns. Like I said, no one knows what caused their professional differences, but SJP publicly offering her condolences (like each of the other stars did) was no reason for Kim to lash out like she did in a public forum. I found it shocking and inexcusable. I also found it interesting that costars took SJP’s side in the matter.
Love Samantha, but I think the writing is more of a problem in anything SATC past the original series. The original was so witty, but after that - ...meh
