Nikolai Yakovlevich Myaskovsky - Cello Sonata No.2 Op.81 in A minor (1948)
0:00 I. Allegro moderato
9:23 II. Andante cantabile
15:56 III. Allegro con spirito
Michal Kaňka - cello
Jaromír Klepáč - piano
it is a cello sonata, and he really realized that. the piano doesn’t upstage the cello, neither does the cello upstage the piano, they work in unison creating beautiful melody and work together. The piano isn’t as complicated, but is still a good show off piece, especially for the cello
similar to the amazing rachmaninov cello sonata ❤
Myaskovsky wrote beautiful music, this cello sonata is lovely
I am an unknown composer from Okinawa. I am very grateful for the upload of the music score. The performance is also wonderful.
I fell in love with this sonata from the first moment, it's so beautiful!!
Very beautiful.....
Beautiful piece
Hermosa y desconocida...porque????
The A section of the finale reminds me a bit of the last movement of Brahms' String Quintet no.2.
Beautiful!
Bravo bravo bravo brilliance grandiose genial music sonata super
Great piece but so many ads!
Absolutelly stunning sonata! It's quite unexpectedlly conservative in the harmony and structure, it sounds a little like a more simple Medtner!
Impossible de quitter en pleine écoute, cette sonate nous happe délicieusement 🧡Grâce aux deux interprètes 🥰
I think Myaskovsky is a great composer, and this sonata is a beautiful work. Maybe his reputation suffered because of his ambiguous position within Soviet music, on the one hand writing works about Khokhozes, as if he was a lackey, and on the other being castigated by the authorities for formalism. But he is a great discovery and very underrated.
I played this piece in my graduate school, and can't forget those days filled with this dreamy music...
Très beau
Very nice, I think there is a kind of 'French' element in Mijaskovsky's music so to speak, also noticeable in some of the songs, a bit reminiscent of Fauré and such, it is hard to explain. Anyway, thank you for uploading.
one of my favorite pieces
Потрясающе!✨👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️
Bravo, gran musicalidad
The beginning of this sonata is hauntingly beautiful.
agree. i can listen the first minute again and again...
I heard the first movement of this amazingly beautiful work on another channel, but that's all there was. Needed to find the entire piece. Thank you.
So beautiful music!
Can cellists please please play this sonata more?
So beautifully written, the two instruments are very well balanced, there's no moment when cello goes silent and piano plays solo and yet it's regarded as cello sonata.
So soulful and beautiful. ❤
Anybody with experience would care to analyze the form of this piece?

22 минуты на одном дыхании❤спасибо

Lovely. Would be a great piece to learn if you didn't feel quite ready for the Grieg
A little boring
Wonderful music. But the execution is boring. Too little agogic. And the cellist did not find the soulful sound required here. He saws without phrasing or breathing, like a saw. Well, accordingly, the accompaniment is inanimate.
I advise you to listen to Rostropovich performed on YT.
