Something very satisfying watching you haul your crops. It might be because some of us watch you all year. The results (harvest/your semi- trips) are the pay-off for us, too. Thanks for taking us along!
Nice to have the harvesting done before the weather turns against us. Commodity prices are good here in Ontario Canada. Corn is $225 per ton soybeans are $14.75 per bushel other grains doing well too. Hope your prices are good too.
To the few who see this god bless stay safe and be awesome people these small farms are what make the world go round thank you Ryan for bringing us on the adventure and a special thanks to you Ryan and all other farms I’m a farmers son we own a 10,000 acre operation i drive a 8230r and I love it god bless to you all farmers or not stay safe and be amazing btw love the sound of that freight liner keep up the good content god bless once again love you all
The semi purchase sure seems to have been a great addition to the farming operation. I’m sure it’s paying its own way. It gives you a lot of flexibility. Harvest over, good time for a wedding.
Crazy weather! I'm in Bakersfield California elevation404' . Its been 18ish - 20ish years since we had snow but it could be a white January here. Crazy weather! Prayers for you success.
Even despite the downed corn from the Derecho this year, it seems like you guys had a wayy less stressful harvest than compared to last year. Glad to see you guys got done early enough to finally get some tillage done this fall for a change. Love the drone shots - those rolling hills look so good with the rows of corn on them. Great video, and thanks for the awesome content as always!!
Hope you now see how much a semi is well-worth the investment. The load distribution is about the same for us as you described, usually make the front hopper fuller than the rear hopper and balances out rather nicely. You have some dry graphite to spray on your hopper slides? Usually have to do that once or twice a year depending how much hauling.
Great Season Ryan, glad to see Old Red doing a good job, haven't heard you complain about the slider doors in a while, guess there getting better. As always great video, and Thanks for the content from your family. God Bless
Nice video. Lots of work and scenery! In my area most fields produce 100,000 bushels, it is just same each day. No dumping on county roads, no pastures and hillsides! I sold 75K bu @ $4.70 today looks good for now!
@@HowFarmsWork Upgrading logos or upgrading trucks?? LOL:) I always thought adding a semi to the mix would really help you guys out-- I learned myself when I got back into grain in the mid-90's after a 15 year hiatus of all cotton (and of course hay and cows) that trucking costs sucked up a LOT of profit out of the grain; I could never justify a semi but I did buy an old 66 Chevy tandem to haul my own and was WAY money ahead at the end of the year. I was curious, seeing how that big cart really helped yall out (keeping the combine running and filling the truck quicker for more "turn and burn" time instead of wait time) you thinking about possibly upgrading carts at some point?? I know you gotta pay down debt on the JCB and semi and stuff first no doubt and that would be wise, but looks like a bigger cart that could double-duty as a "mother bin" would really speed things up for yall, at some point. Ideally the "perfect setup" is when the truck only sits long enough to get loaded, the combine doesn't have to stop to wait for the truck to get back and the cart unloaded into it. Worked great last year for us-- BIL was running the 9600 Deere, and I was jumping between the 600 bushel Killbros cart and the semi, hauling into town... I could make a run into town, dump, weigh out, and get back to the field, and the cart would be full and the combine full and he sat maybe five minutes-- dump the cart on the truck as he dumped the combine into the cart at the same time, he'd double back into the field, I'd finish dumping the cart, grab another dump off the combine by the time I got down to where he was in the field, run it back out and top off the truck, then stage the cart next to where he was picking, jump down roll the tarp on the truck, hop in and head to town again-- slick as snot! I love it when a plan comes together! LOL:) OL J R :)
Great Camera placement! Enjoy the longer 30 minute videos especially when you watch and the time flys by. Too many FarmTube channels are getting filled with sponsered advertising lasting over 1/8 of the video length. Is this the oldest/ longest running FarmTube channel?
Hi Ryan I hope you're doing well seems like you need some Viper sunglasses looks like that sun hurts your eyes in that truck pretty well you have a good day my friend
Wish it was so picturesque here in Lancaster UK, its been very wet and windy as usual for November. Finally able to watch in high quality thanks to a fault on the old phone line being fixed, noticed big red is more big pink. Maybe a bit of t-cut over winter to restore her paint work?
Glad you guys had a good safe harvest, despite the challenges this year dished out with the derecho and of course the "fungusamongus" (kung-flu, wu-flu, Sichuan sniffles, whatever). At least most folks seemed to catch a break during harvest this year. Last year just seemed everything was wet all over... we waited a week and took a lot longer to harvest and corn was STILL coming out of the field wet-- just that kind of a year. Hannah is so cute, and a big help. Think you got a keeper there! Treat that lady right! Here's hoping you can get your fall tillage work done and be in better shape for a *hopefully* better next year! Later! OL J R :)
hey ryan great video well its that ti,e of year again i defianlly cant wait for next years harveast sure going to miss those long semi rides to the plant those are my favorite cant wait for more videos as always great job thumbs up and shared
have you ever considered bringing back a half load of the distillers grain to feed to you cattle. if they are dry you should be able to store all winter but i heard sometimes they come wet?
There's "wet distiller's grain" (WDG) and "dry distiller's grain" (DDG)... he should SERIOUSLY look into that and maybe doing backhauls and selling some locally would be a viable money-maker for the farm. Even for his own cattle the DDG's would be a GREAT addition-- DDG is higher in protein than corn-- when they make ethanol, a 56 pound bushel of corn goes into the fermenter, and out comes ethanol (ethyl alcohol) and 44 pounds of DDG... Part of the starch in the corn is converted to sugar and eaten by the yeasts fermenting the grain into alcohol (they basically "p!ss" alcohol as a waste product) but they don't consume the protein in the grain, so the DDG is much higher in protein and lower in starch due to concentration of the protein in the DDG compared to the original corn. SO feeding DDG or mixing it with corn into a ration for his cattle would really add value, and he could sell more of the original corn into the market, offsetting part of the cost of the DDG. If there's other cattle farmers in the area (or his Dad or brother were interested in feeding some DDG's) then he could easily make backhauls of DDG's and pick up some extra money that way, particularly if he could store it or deliver it to other farmers in the area later on and sell it to them. Would certainly make the drive down there MUCH more profitable! OL J R :)

You can add them, but you gotta do some engine work to install them, and it's NOT CHEAP to add them on... cheaper to just buy a truck with them on it from the factory probably... OL J R :)
The camera work and editing is excellent. I wish more people would take that into account when watching these videos.

Good to see that you finished harvest. We are busy harvesting in New South Wales, Australia, best crop in many years after 3 years of drought.

Great video and congratulations on completing harvest. Thank you for the video.
Congratulations on finishing harvest. I know it wasn't an easy one due to the storm damage, but you did it with class and style. Well done!
Worked at Viterra ports for a couple of years and I got to say that those are the cleanest road grids ive ever seen
Another great video. Glad the weather held. Hope tillage goes smooth.
